  • "Hadn't been in for a while and it was better than I had remembered! Delicious!"

  • "Cozy inside and welcomely outside. Portions are big and food is delicious )) Since I drink only French, a decent wine list is very important for me. Not only they have a big selection of French champaign, but also they have SEVERAL varieties of SMALL bottles , which is very rare to find in a place where food is under 20$. Moreover, they have a small bottle of Demi sec ;) I would definitely recommend this place for lunch and dinner."

  • "Went to the Wine Cellar for dinner to celebrate my birthday. We chose to sit inside because it was starting to get chilly. We had a nice table near the bar. Our waiter Tim F was great. He was very attentive and made good recommendations. We had the Soy-glazed Salmon, Ahi Tuna and Fisherman's pasta. They were all very delicious. The portions are huge including the dessert. Three of us shared the Pumpkin Bread Pudding and we could not finish all of it even if it was absolutely delicious. I was also given a chocolate sundae with a candle on it for my birthday. It was simply a wonderful dinner. We will definately go there for brunch so we can sit outside next time."

  • "Excellent food, I love all of their dishes specially Salmon and Halibut, my compliment to the chef. Of course the service is outstanding too, prompt and courteous."

  • "Stayed there 2 hours with no one rushing us. Oh, the two hours was our choice. Food an service was fast, but not rushed"

  • "The 'Wine Cellar' is our favorite place to eat in Los Gatos. We mostly go for lunch and usually have the 'fish and chips'. The 'sand dabs are so lite and tasty! We had friends visiting from Monterey so the 'Wine Cellar" was the choice for dinner. It was a beautiful evening, we had an early reservation so had our choice of outdoor seating - very relaxing. The staff, as always, we're very pleasant, helpful, and attentive. Our selections from the menu were 'sea bass', short ribs, and two of us had the pear salad. We of course had to finish off with a delicious 'creme brûlée' We will soon be back!"

  • "We were greeted promptly and politely. Our waiter, Tim , was extremely nice and competent,,,as he was last time. The double shrimp salad delicious as usual. My ribs were good but not great veggies very tasteful."

  • "I wish there was a Wine Cellar closer to where we live in Palo Alto, although the drive isn't that bad...But worth it!"

  • "Loved this restaurant!! Everything started off really well. Unfortunately, our waiter's shift ended and he handed us off to his backup. Service dropped to zero at that point! We had been receiving attention and very good service, but suddenly, everything stopped. The backup had very little energy, and was just going through the motions. We waited 15 minutes for dessert and coffee. OVerall, the food was outstanding, and the only downside for the evening was the service hand-off"

  • "We've been going to the Wine Cellar for over 20 years. To me, it's gotten even better. The venue has been updated and the food has never grown stale. It's a great place for great food. I would recommend the Justin Cabernet and the Chicken Marsala, though my husband loved the filet."

  • "My wife and I had been thinking about visiting the Wine Cellar for a while and finally made it out there. When we entered, the place looked nice/promising. After we were seated, we waited for 20 minutes for any server to acknowledge us. We noticed a few other parties come in and were acknowledged well before us. At this point we got up and left. I expressed my frustration with the manager on my way out. I called the manager the next day to explain why I felt service was so poor and that I hope she can correct the situation for future guests. She apologized and assured me that it was a breakdown in their process. Given her sincerity, I am willing to give them another chance. Until then, I cannot recommend this restaurant."

  • "Came here for my birthday dinner. Lunch outside is good. Dinner inside, not so much. My party of 4 was not impressed by the food. The entrees are too big and the flavor is ok. The service was good, no complaints there. I won't be back for dinner."

  • "The patrons visiting this restaurant had on baseball caps, shorts, running shoes, flip-flops and contributed to the extremely loud conversations that could be heard throughout the restaurant. We were not sitting outside on their patio. One of the hostess was wearing open-toed sandals, totally not appropriate for a supposedly fine dining establishment. If this was a beach-side, extremely casual restaurant, then those shoes would be appropriate. And the seating leads a lot to be desired. The service was below standard. Our waiter was friendly but the bus boys didn't clear plates and with one entree we were sharing, we received no plates, we had to use our bread plates. Our dishes all tasted the same and were just average and overpriced."

  • "I NORMALLY LOVE THIS RESTAURANT. I AM ESPECIALLY FOND OF THE PORTOBELLO SANDWICH WHICH USUALLY COTAINS VERY NICE THICK SLICES OF GRILLED MUSHROOM. ON OUR LAST TRIP THE SLICES WERE LIKE LITTLE STRANDS OF MUSHROOM HELD TO GETHER BY A LARGE GLOB OF CHEESE. YOU COULD SEE SOME SCAPE MARKS WHERE THE MUSHROOM GILLS HAD BEEN REMOVED. IT HAD VERY LITTLE FLAVOR. NEEDLESS TO SAY IT WAS FAR BELOW THE QUALITY LEVEL THAT I HAVE COME TO KNOW AT THE WINE CELLAR. THE WAITER WAS NOT THAT INTERESTED IN MY COMPLAINT ABOUT THE QUALITY. I QUESTIONED HIM TWICE. HE DID SAY HE WOULD DICUSS IT WITH THE HEAD CHEF LATER THAT AFTERNOON"

  • "I took my mother and her friend to lunch and it was wonderful! The French Onion Soup was delicious, and the salmon and salads were superb! We enjoyed the fruit dessert the best -- it was overwhelming with color and flavor!"

  • "We've been a half dozen times and enjoyed another consistently good experience. We made a reservation for 8 and didn't get seated until 8:35 but fortunately we weren't in a hurry and the bartenders were friendly and entertaining."

  • "Had a delightful visit and lunch with friend to celebrate our birthdays"

  • "Sat outside for lunch on a lovely day - which was the best part of the meal. Service was OK but not interesting, food was adequate but nothing more. Relative to other dining options in the area, you don't come here for the food - it's the location that's the draw."
    Dined on 3/8/2014
  • "We ate outside and had sand dab tacos and fish and chips that were outstanding. Our waiter, Tim Flynn was excellent. It is one of our favorite places for lunch."
    Dined on 2/24/2014
  • "On this particular visit for lunch, the atmoshpere for lunch was quiet elegance, being seated at 1:00 PM. The attentiveness of our server was excellent as the of supporting wait staff. My one disappointment was the abalone which I've enjoyed on prior dining occasions. On this visit, the abalone was less than tender, undermining an otherwise pleasant lunch at the Wine Cellar."

  • "Great place to take your special someone. Very romantic feel. Good Food, steak had some fufu yuppy sauce on it but i guess thats the type of place it was. Service and waiters were great."

  • "It is an okay restaurant. Way overpriced for the quality of food though."

  • "We enjoyed our first visit to the Wine Cellar. The ambience is okay but certainly nothing special. The food was all good but for the price it should be exceptional. It is not. If money is no object, the Wine Cellar may be a good choice. But for the price I can find many places I would prefer. As an additional note: We ordered two dinners and I ordered a salad. The waiter made sure to ask if we were splitting the salad to see if he could charge a splitting fee. I understand a fee for splitting a dinner but for splitting a salad that is ridiculous. Again, overall the food is good but the only thing exceptional are the prices. Based on the location is seems there are enough people who don't mind. Enjoy."

  • "Been here 3 years in a row for Valentines. Couldn't said a bad thing the last two years. This year slow service, late seating, to noisy, and they missed one of the courses."

  • "Great restaruant to take your valentines to. The ambience was set with a romantic vibe. The service was great, they were very attentive. The food was spectacular."

  • "This was z very nice evening with good food and good service. However. It was rather noisy and we had to share a corner table with another couple. Not too private."

  • "We ate at wine cellar with our friends from out of town. The dinner was excellent from Chicken Marsala to Sole with macadamia nut crust. The service by Tim was superb, we love this place!"

  • "Friendly and attentive waitstaff, good menu selection, tasty food, pleasant, business casual atmosphere. Quiet enough to talk without having to raise your voice. We also enjoy the outdoor dining when weather is good."
    Dined on 2/7/2014
  • "The food was delicious...I had the chicken piccata...and it was wonderful. On a rainy, gloomy day, my friend opted for the meatloaf which she enjoyed tremendously. Our server was attentive, but sensitive to the fact that we wanted to talk and catch up....that was much appreciated...Oh, don't miss the Key Lime Pie for dessert...yummy!"

  • "When I want to take company out to eat, I KNOW the Wine Cellar will be a great choice! Their food is excellent! They have a great selection of wine! The service is great! The server we had was the same one we had for another visit a few weeks back. He remembered us. Did a great job making sure everyone was enjoying their food. We always are pleased whenever we go there and our guests love it too!"

  • "Given the reviews, I was expecting a bit more. Service was spotty - wasn't asked for a drink order before the main order, but then felt rushed with the sequencing of apps and mains. I had the dry-age rib eye - didn't taste much of the bbq sauce and had little bacon on it. The mashed potatoes were tasty. My wife's salmon was ok - but for the price we expected a bit better than 'ok'."

  • "We keep walking by the Wine Cellar but never tried it...It's a little gem, that serves a hearty meal at a decent price. Try the French Onion soup! Oh, and don't forget the sweet potato french fries... It's worth a return trip! The steak medallions are tender, it melts in your mouth."

  • "When I made the reservation, I requested a quiet booth or table. We were seated in a nice secluded booth which was enjoyable until the hostess sat a couple right next to us. There was a whole section of at least 8 tables right in front of us that were empty. Needless to say, we had to spend the rest of our dining experience listening to the loud couple next to us. The restaurant was obviously not that busy that Wednesday evening. I can't understand why that couple had to be seated right next of us , where my husband actually was facing the couple and had no choice to look straight at them. The tables were about 2 feet apart. This was a very unfortunate choice on the part of the hostess."
