Winds Cafélove those lentils!I usually order whatever beans and rice dish the winds has going at brunch, but this month's version was outstanding. The colors on my plate were so pretty, and of course the whole was delicious. Love the Winds!6/16/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious, w/ Father's Day glitchWe were seated promptly, got our drinks and entrees quickly. The main dish was a spicy Mexican style potato dish, which could be ordered with eggs or steak to enhance it.The glitch was with my Caesar salad. I noticed after a few bites that it was missing 2 of the crucial items that make it special.According to the menu description is comes with thin slices of cheese and bread crouton from their bakery. Without them, the salad was flat. I told our server, and he bought me a new salad, andapologized profusely.Winds food is quality, innovative and fun. If you have not eaten here it is worth a long trip!6/16/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial lunchNot as crowded with the opening of the patio for dining, so less noise than usual. the Croque Monsieur (sp?) was outstanding, and the pasta special featuring a spinach and pecan pesto was especially good. The featured wines make it easy to try something new without having to invest in a whole bottle. Dessert was good (Black Forest cake and chocolate tart), but somewhat ordinary compared to the entrees. The meals that went to other tables looked delicious as well, enough to want to return soon to try them.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good destination restaurantConsistently very good food from an eclectic menu. Something for everyone. Delightful outdoor dining. Service leisurely.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExperienceOur food was delicious, and our server was very sweet, knowledgeable, and efficient.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways goodAlways good to eat at the Winds. They have renovated the outside dining area which looks really nice.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMour spotThe restaurant feels like home to us. We have loved it since we first went there 5 years ago6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful dinnerWe had a great time...Enjoyed the varied menu which utilized lots of seasonal ingredients...our server was super-knowledgeable, had tasted the menu and was generally awesome. All of our food was very good and wine selections were fantastic. I've had mixed experiences recently at the Winds and was even a bit down on returning, but wow, did they do a great job on a busy night. We'll definitely return soon.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGo. Relax. Enjoy.Professional food and service without any pretension. Trust them.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMDependableRaised sheep as a kid, and like lamb and also consider myself a reasonable judge of it. Small plate lamb dish was excellent. Wife is somewhat more all around tougher to please than I am. She did not like the calamari appetizer. Her pork chop was quite good with the rhubarb glaze. Tables a little too close, and then a group of three women seated next to us. The alpha one had already had a bit too much to drink, and was too loud and Narcissistic, and used most every profanity. Detracted from my experience a little. Still one of my favorite restaurants of all time. Generally get at least multiple bottles of wine next door after dining-got six this nite.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favorite restaurantsI only get to eat at the Winds Cafe once a year when I visit my parents who live in a town close by Yellow Springs. It is the one restaurant that my father eats everything on his plate. The food and service was once again great.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently GreatWe've eaten at the Winds several times - with colleagues from work, as a family, as a couple. It is consistently great.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMDessert on Menu, not available 3 xsGreat food, unfortunately the past 3 times I have eaten there they have been out of the dessert that I have chosen from the menu. It has been a different dessert every time and each time they are out of it. This is very frustrating.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique! The 5 of us had a delicious lunch and we're planning to go back again soon.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding Place To EatGreat food at an affordable price. I have been to the Wind's several time when on travel and have never been disappointed.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial occasionThe place was crowded and the energy was high. As always, the food was great (which accounts for the crowd and the energy), particularly the mushroom soup-of-the-day. Two of us had duck (two different entrees), both superb, one had short ribs perfectly done, and the most adventurous had baked ricotta, a kind of savory cheesecake, which was surprisingly good. Definitely a place for a special occasion, less so for an intimate conversation.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had not been for a fewWe had not been for a few years and its nice to find that the food is as delicious as ever!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe visit annually to celebrateWe visit annually to celebrate my friend's birthday. it is a celebration just to drive to Yellow Springs and have lunch! We enjoyed being seated by the window for the first time! Our lunch was delicious - as always, the menu choices very interesting; the tea is wonderful - wishing we could have had dessert, but our visit to Yellow Springs is not complete unless we walk the 6 mile route to the Young Dairy and enjoy the ice cream. Thank you for making our annual birthday celebration a truly special occasion.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMExceeds expectations again!Exceeded expectations in every way. We come here often and
it's always a wonderful experience. We wonder when
we will experience a mis-step, but we never have. Always consistent
in creativity, flavorful creations, and priced fairly. The drive down from
Columbus is always worth the trip. Thank you!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great experienceWe had a great experience at Winds Café. The food was superb. Our only complaint was that the bartender was far too slow. We ordered Bloody Maries to enjoy before our brunch. They didn't arrive until 10 minutes after our food was brought to the table. Our waiter apologized nicely, but apparently we weren't the only ones experiencing this.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat I had was good, but theWhat I had was good, but the majority of the
Selection for the night was seafood, which
Unfortunately I don't like.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAs usual, this was a fantasticAs usual, this was a fantastic dinning experience. The food was super and the service top notch.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food, Long WaitThe wait was not good (even with a reservation) but the food made it worthwhile.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAs parents of young children,As parents of young children, we rarely seem to be able to get away for a nice evening out. Whenever we do, we are especially picky about the places we go. We can always depend on Winds for a relaxing dinner. The food is always superb. Everything is so fresh and flavorful. The service is incredible - so attentive without being hovering. They take the time to make sure we feel at home in their restaurant and give special attention to all the details. Their attention to detail carries over into everything they do. I can't wait for our next special date night!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Winds Cafe is a localThe Winds Cafe is a local institution in the area. I've eaten there many times and the food is very good.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBest of the best in Dayton areaThe Winds is my favorite restaurant in the Dayton area. The food is always exceptional, the wine list is extensive and informative, the wait staff are knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is charming. The only criticism I can make is that the noise level is a bit on the high side.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA great brunch - varied menuA great brunch - varied menu which we really loved. This is granola at it's best. Hostess was a total turn off which did not start our experience off well, but the food made up for that. They do a great job in the kitchen, just need to train the staff to keep par with the delivery.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMI took a friend of mine whoI took a friend of mine who lives out of town to the Wind's Cafe for brunch and she loved it! The food was not your normal bacon and eggs. It was interesting, fresh and delicious. And the service was outstanding.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant has a distinctlyThis restaurant has a distinctly spanish edge and is good at it. The romesco sauce is exceptional. The Black Slate featured wine was a definite treat.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAn attentive server to provideAn attentive server to provide a interesting lunch time4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for Easter brunchWe went for Easter brunch and it was great--food and atmosphere. This was my first time eating at The Winds and found the menu had customized classics as well as some unique items. All five of us tried something different -- all were excellent! We also shared two items from their bakery. The blueberry coffee cake with a cup of their black tea was outstanding, as was the cinnamon roll. Definitely worth it. I plan to do a hike and dine in YS soon so I can eat there again. Highly recommend it!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI would not call the noiseI would not call the noise "energetic." I would call it loud and irritating. The five people at my table had trouble conversing.
We've had better food at Winds than the three different items that we ordered. One of the dishes was "interesting" and even tasty but not great. The other two were ordinary. This was at Easter brunch, after 1:00 p.m.; perhaps the unsually large number of patrons and the lateness of the hour led to a diminishment in quality.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMTheir Easter brunch was awesome.Their Easter brunch was awesome. Best Bloody Mary I have ever had. Also the burger they should keep on the menu forever..3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMMussels Bistro Dinners atMussels Bistro Dinners at The Winds Cafe are a particular favorite, and the version served March 28 didn't disappoint, with a broth that was aromatic without being overpowering.
Since bistro dinners have pre-selected wine options, they're an opportunity to make discoveries, and the Castillo de Fuendejalon was one to be remembered at the next trip to The Wine Cellar next door.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMRecommendations to friendsRecommendations to friends and associates will be forthcoming. Always enjoy the food and the ambiance.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything g was great - theEverything g was great - the food was fantastic, the wines were perfect and the service esp. on such a busy night was friendly and informative. Our server (Jamie?) was great, high energy and took care of us. Perfect meal, starting with the bread and olives, the mussels and Lima beans (could not stop dipping the bread into the smoky sauce), split the Caesar salad, and for entrees had the lamb and the duck quarter.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe get to the area severalWe get to the area several times a year and get down to Yellow Springs to experience the specialness of Winds. They never disappoint - great drinks at the bar, reservation ready on time without rushing us or making us wait...the place is professionally run. Our late reso time meant that there were some highly prized menu items that were no longer available to us. Victims of Saturday night success, I suppose. Nonetheless, the food that made its way out of the kitchen lived up to our lofty expectations - duck, striped bass, lamb - all cooked perfectly as advertised. Wait staff is always accommodating, although our request for less wattage on the lighting was only resolved when one of our party unscrewed the bulb over over the table.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMHello, The Winds Cafe,Hello,
The Winds Cafe, I must say the location is wonderful. We arrived 10 minutes early for out reservation, No Problem! Our dinner for two table was ready and waiting. It was only a short time after being seated, our waiter arrived. Great Service! The evening began with whole grain breads, butter & a sampler of some great olives.. Now it's time for drinks. I had the house chard, it was fantastic.( 3 glasses fantastic). My date had 2 long island ice tea's, or should I say strong-island iced tea's. Next came dinner, I chose the "wild bass/coconut rice.. Best fish I've ever had. My girlfriend had the short ribs. I must say! We were both dissapointed with this dish. To much fat, no meat, and for some reason, it felt like a rush job!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Winds is an excellentThe Winds is an excellent Yellow Springs restaurant where you can always count on a good meal and friendly service.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Winds Cafe is a very niceThe Winds Cafe is a very nice place for dining. We have enjoyed this Cafe for many, many years and shall continue enjoying our visits several times each year.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic night at The Winds!Fantastic night at The Winds! It had a festive atmosphere as everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and running into friends. The food was fabulous. The scallops - wow - amazing. We enjoyed a few of the Small Plates too. I'm not sure if we could pick a favorite... the Mushrooms Cooked Like Escargot, the Baked Ricotta, and the Crispy Cod Strudel were all equally divine. Our waiter, JD, was the best. Knowledge of the wine list, understanding of the food, and friendly.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMRelaxingLove the restaurant... Very comfortable and friendly service.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI had heard about The WindsI had heard about The Winds for years and finally went for Sunday brunch. It was wonderful. Fresh ingredients, amount of food was perfect (not too much, not too little), and the service was outstanding. I will definitely be going back.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
