  • Very disappointing

The whole experience was disappointing. Vinyl table cloths for a so called highend dining is terrible. Does not live up to previous owners cusine. Prices increased and smaller portions i.e. porck chop ok but no side included for the price and five very small shrimp for a $12.00 appetizer. Way too many herbs and over powering spices in the dishes. In all my years I have never seen a Chef wait tables. Very poor impression. I will not be going back, Too Bad it was one pof my favorite places.

Under new ownership, the Wilmette Chop House is superb! Beginning with a supremely prepared shared Crab Cake and a velvety smooth Cabernet, the Wilmette Chop House did not fail to deliver an exquisite epicurean delight! After the delectable Crab Cake, came the very generous Ceasar Salad and Seasonal Beet Salad. Both arranged and dressed to perfection. Next, the Grilled Salmon and oversized Double Cut Pork Chop with sides of Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Plantains and Brussels Sprouts - each bursting with flavor and complementing the entrees. Finishing with a shared Moulton Chocolate Cake served with ice cream drizzled with Raspberry Coulis and a dollop of whipped creme. Yum! Outstanding!

I went with a friend to celebrate my birthday, and we had a fantastic time. The Caesar salad was perfectly dressed and flavorful. The filet was tender and done just as requested. My birthday Lava Cake dessert was delicious. The music was quiet enough to have a conversation (but you could still hear it) and all big band style - which I adore. A very small place, but enough room between the tables that even if it had been full, diners would not be sitting on top of each other.

It's essentially a steakhouse with superb quality meat (also fish) and excellent sides, and huge portions of everything. The prices are comparable to other steakhouses, but you'll have plenty to take home with you. It's a good place to go for quiet conversation, because there's no bar, no TV, no loud background music, no jazz or rock bands on weekends. No one rushes you. Easy to get to--just take the Metra North Line, get off at Wilmette, and it's a five minute walk, if that. They've only been open a few months--the owner is an experienced caterer--and they are still working out some minor seating and service details. But refreshingly, there's no "Hello, my name is George, I'll be your server, and how are we tonight?"

Went here a few months ago and was surprised at how good the ribeye steak was... As good or better than Chicago steak joints, and much less expensive (and I have been to most of them). Went again on a Thursday night with my wife... Had the smoked pork chop, which was recommended by others. Off the charts great... Best pork chop I ever had (tastes like a great ham). Everything was great-wine, service, food, dessert (lava cake). We will be going back, with or without a groupon, because they have very reasonable prices for the quality of food. The chef came out numerous times to check on the food he had just prepared. You just don't get that attention normally anywhere else.

After two hours in the Chop House, we had to beg for our check. We were the first persons there that evening and many left before we did. The food was good but mistakes were made in our orders. The management was apologetic but did nothing to improve the situation. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and left very disappointed. The food was good. We have lived in East Wilmette for over 30 years. We are already sharing our negative experience with our friends. (We've been using Open Table for years. This is the first time I've written a review.)

We had a groupon given to us as a gift- we live almost an hour away from here. We thought it would be a fun outing! It's a small, intimate restaurant. We didn't have very good service. There was only one waitress for the entire room, and she was new. It took us a long time to order our drinks and to get our food. The food was good, however it's incredibly expensive. It was even more expensive than most steak houses that I have been.

Wilmette Chop House was an "o.k." dining experience. The food was not very good. Both my husband and I had the filet which was burnt on the outside. The asparagus was overdone. The staff was great though. Very attentive and was always checking on us to see if everything was going well.

We have dined at Wilmette Chop House in the past, but apparently there is a new owner. The menu is different. The piano and piano player are gone. White tablecloths have been replace by brown vinyl. The sole waiter tried hard, but his service was less than attentive. We ordered the Colorado Lamb Chops and they were first served undercooked, then some parts were inedible.

Had heard about this restaurant for a long time and that it was now under new management. While we hadn't been there before to comment on changes, we found the food to be amazingly good! Crab cake appetizer was great. The steaks were tasty and prepared perfectly; salmon was delightful and the pork was unbelievable. Decent assortment of sides to choose from and all were prepared well. Chocolate lava cake was the best I've ever had. The interior space and service offered the intrigue of the city coupled with the calm of the suburbs. We'll be back….probably again next week for a birthday celebration.

We try to dine at this restaurant at least twice a month. The owners, Rob and Madonna, are creative, talented and friendly. They listen to their customer's suggestions regarding wines and specials and respond accordingly. The service is excellent. The Wilmette Chop House is one of the very few restaurants in Wilmette that is quiet enough to allow for conversation during dinner.

Intimate, welcoming, transporting - once inside, you'd never know you were in wilmette- a great place for those who want a relaxing delicious meal, and good conversation, unimpeded by high noise levels and too close proximity to other diners. The energy is relaxed in a good way; visually, decor is simple but lush, deep red walls, touches of gold in fabric curtains. Servers are attentive and knowledgeable. This is where I go to treat myself in wilmette.

We invited another couple to join us at the Chop House for dinner on Friday evening. Neither couple had dined there before. We really enjoyed the evening. The service was outstanding. The chef stopped by a couple of times, first to answer questions about the menu, then to make sure our dinner was prepared as ordered. Great customer service and very friendly! It is a great location to catch up with your spouse or another couple, as you can actually hear each other in this comfortable, upscale environment. I would recommend it for date night, as the atmosphere is very nice. Bravo!

I was hoping to celebrate my wife's birthday with a nice meal and some good service but I chose the wrong restaurant. We went to the Wilmette Chop House this past Saturday night and it was incredibly loud, the service was very slow, and our food was not good. We considered leaving even before ordering due to the noise (which we should have) but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. I wish that I had read the reviews before booking the reservation. We won't be going back.

This was our second time back at Wilmette Chop House. We were extremely disappointed with the service. It took our table 30 minutes just to get drinks. Food was fair...the meat was undercooked. Server never apologized for the service or meal. Owner of restaurant was drinking with a large party instead of walking around his restaurant and checking on his customers. We would NEVER go back here!

Service was good but it was a very slow night so hard to judge for sure but they were very attentive. The chef came out a couple of times and chatted with us which was also very nice. Food was average. I wasn't feeling well and only had the Lobster Bisque which was okay. My spouse's steak was rare but was it was rather tough to be rare and it was very expensive ($62) not worth it at all. My son has the chicken fingers which tasted pretty fresh but he did not like the fries. All in all this place is quite expensive. Also - we were celebrating my son's birthday and the server asked my son what flavor of ice cream he wanted leading us to believe he was going to bring it out but instead we just got the bill. My son was sad about that so we just wanted to leave at that point. This place is over-priced and I wasn't impressed.

Went to celebrate a very special family occasion with my wife. Not to embarrass her, or spoil the evening, I didn't send back my foot-long naked bone, in rib eye steak (think they call it a Tomahawk steak) which I would have done in a heartbeat. It was the worse steak I have ever been served. 60% of it was burnt at the edges, fat and gristle, and what was left was so tough it was hard to chew. What really disturbed me, was having to pay an UNREALISTIC $62.00 for the dish. Their website menu indicates a rib eye steak is $36.00.(My wife said her double cut pork chop was good but a little dry.( I shouldn't have listened to the server who KEPT TOUTING the Tomahawk, and ordered the pork chop that I originally wanted.

Can't say much good about this place. First time I've been. I had the skirt steak which was cooked to order (medium rare) but was filled with more gristle and fat than meat. It was extremely tough too. I've bought better skirt steak at our local Jewel and it's not known for its high quality meat. My son had a New York Strip, which he ordered medium rare. It was closer to medium well. Service was very slow. Waiter was very annoying. Just a weird attitude. The only reason I'd go back is because I live about 1/2 mile away making it convenient.

The food was fantastic. It was close to the BEST bone-in ribeye I have ever had, and that says a lot, as I go to Chicago steak houses monthly in search of a great steak. And the price was almost half of what I normally pay in the city. The cook even came out to see how it was cooked. He nailed it... nice char and lightly seasoned, cooked perefectly. The meat was extremely tender. And we topped our meal off with desert, which for the price, was fantastic also. The Banana's Foster, on a waffle, with ice cream, was delicious. We had a groupon, but I am going back simply because the food is fantastic even at the regular prices, which are a real deal compared to the prices in the city.

I live in the neighborhood and couldn't resist the coupon from Amazon Local to try out Wilmette Chop House. The dining room is attractive, small and intimate. There was a live piano player who added to the ambiance. The menu is limited and while I was thinking about their braised pork special, our waiter explained how the Pork Chop is many people's favorite. After ordering it, I know why! It had a ham-like texture and flavor, with a wonderful glaze. Oh, and it was enormous! The staff is friendly in this very small restaurant resulting in multiple pleasant exchanges with our waiter, the Chef (yes, Cannoli is better than guns) and the hostess (the chef's wife).

My husband and I have been here numerous times and they have yet to disappoint. Growing up in Nebraska, I feel confident in saying that I know my beef, and whenever I have ordered the filet minon it has melted in my mouth. I usually like my meat rare to medium rare, still mooing doesn't bother me at all, and it has always been cooked that way for me. The ambience is just okay, it seems like they are always changing things up since it is a small, small place and they have a piano bar in there, which makes for a fun night out too.
