Wilmette Chop Housegreat findThis storefront in Wilmette was really amazing. Understand that this is a small restaurant with limited seating. Piano player sang also, but it was subtle enought to still be conversation friendly. The food was very good and the service leisurely. The wine list is small but adequate. Overall, it was a great experience and we cant wait to go back.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWe will be back!Great food, excellent service. I love the charred steaks! The chef makes his own rub that is unlike anything I've had anywhere. Excellent flavor, cooked to perfection. My friend had the veal chop and said it was the best he ever had.
It's a small intimate room with an amazing pianist. We thought the concept was inviting and engaging. This is the only place on the North Shore like it. They are busy and it's because every detail was well thought out to please their customers.
We will be back OFTEN!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great service and funMy wife and I dined at the Wilmette Chop House recently for the first time. It was a truly teriffic experience. Great food, great service and very friendly staff. The live piano act adds a level of energy and fun not common in suburban eateries. If you're looking for a place that won't push you out the door at 9:30PM, go here. It's the best place in Wilmette, hands down. We'll be back.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I love it here.My husband and I love it here. Great steaks and the vesuvio meatballs are so delicious!!
The salads are yummy. The potato side was delicious, I just love it. I think it's worth every penny.
Service here is always on point with fine recommendations for the table. Always friendly and helpful. If you order a cocktail , which I highly recommend be careful it does sneak up on you.
We try to come here as often as we can. Also great place to celebrate birthdays.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe thought the food was delicious. We thought the food was delicious. The ribeye streak I had was perfect and wonderful.
There was a big party of at least 16 people which made it a little noisy. But, I also felt that the table for four was too big and that it felt hard to talk to one another without straining. It may not be possible to replace the tables with smaller ones, but that would be wonderful. Otherwise, the attention and service were lovely.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service! Excellent food!Excellent service! Excellent food! I am not a steak lover, but would happily accompany my husband here anytime because all the food is good and I love the atmosphere and top service.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMfirst-class chop house, good musicThe caprese tower appetizer is fresh and light, and the lobster bisque is precious! The staples of a solid chop house are prepared with careful attention: the pork chops, strip steak and veal medallions -- all hearty and delicious. My sommelier friend said the wines were noteworthy and the staff was smart about good pairings. The gem is the live piano-bar music, which pulls everything together, from the great wall artwork and decor to the posh salon feel of the room, making the sounds and sights adaptable to any romantic or celebratory occasion.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMDined in a party of 7. EachDined in a party of 7. Each of us ordered something different. We ALL enjoyed our choices. We will be back!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMI had a filet. UnbelievableI had a filet. Unbelievable how tender the beef is. My wife had the smoked pork chop. It was gigantic! The plantains on top were a very tasty surprise. Seriously, it was like eating dessert...
We shared the bread pudding. I've had bread pudding in New Orleans and this was really good. It had a sweet whiskey sauced where the alcohol was boiled off some but it had a great whiskey taste!
Over all, I would say that was one of the finer dining experiences we've had in a long time! I would definitely go back again for a nice dinner.
Piano was also a nice touch. Made the restaurant better than others around town.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner music was niceExcellent dinner, nice service and the piano made it very special.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMreally nice dining experienceFor starters, we had the sausage and peppers, which were extremely good. I had the Wedge Salad, which is an actual wedge of an iceberg lettuce that has bleu cheese dressing all over it and then topped with bacon, diced tomatoes, and bleu cheese crumbles. It was very yummy. I selected the Filet Mignon; the meat was delicious and cooked exactly how I liked it, medium rare, charred. For a side, we had the spinach to share. The sides were a nice compliment to the meat. They also have a pretty good wine selection.
Overall this was a really nice dining experience.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed the comfortableWe enjoyed the comfortable setting and personalized service (attentive wait staff and the chef came out and greeted customers). We had steamed mussels in white wine sauce and a hearts of palm salad to start (both good). For entrees we had the smoked pork chop (outstanding) and ahi tuna. While the dessert variety sounded good, we settled for mixed berries. After dinner we joined other diners who had gathered at the piano which was fun. The piano player took requests. We'll be back.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMthis place is a true gemthis place is a true gem, one of the rare places where u get good food and great service. its the service that sets each steak house apart from each other.
this place is much better than mortons, ruth chris, ej's, sullivans, flemings, wildfire...... no excuse me, mucho mucho better ....
i would say that i would go back to this joint because everything about the place was superb, no dissappointments, we were very satisfied and didn't feel we paid an inflated bill4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBest ribeye I ever hadExcellent ribeye... best my husband ever had. I had the salmon and it was delicious as well.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe meal was ok - the filetThe meal was ok - the filet being over seasoned to our taste. It would have been helpful if the menu stated the meat was seasoned. Also too much garlic on the undercooked green beans. Would try again asking questions on the preparation.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMEaster dinner for SixThe Wilmette Chop House was a pleasant surprise. Our family prefers dinner at 6:00pm on Easter Sunday rather than brunch. Through OpenTable we found this wonderful little restaurant. The food was delicious - note the pork chops and the salmon. Server was attentive and informative. Decor was delightful. We even enjoyed a bit of sing-a-long time with the pianist over dessert. Everyone in our party complimented the person who selected the Wilmette Chop House. And, I'm so happy to say that was me! Easter dinner was perfect this year.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFour of us had dinner on SaturdayFour of us had dinner on Saturday night prior to a play. The ambiance was charming -- small, intimate, well-decorated, soft lighting. We also enjoyed the piano player, who had a lovely voice and played quietly enough that we could still converse. Our waiter was attentive to our timing needs, and was helpful and friendly without being overly present. My only complaint is that the food could have been a little better given the price. My husband's lobster bisque seemed bland, and my scallops were fine but not special. Our friends ordered the steak and salmon, and said they were both good. We did not have time to linger for dessert. Overall, we had a very nice experience at the restaurant.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMcouldn't help having fun!Went for a late night dinner. Kitchen was closed, but Chef Rob made us a great meal. The piano bar was packed! People were singing and having a great time. We couldn't help having fun!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMthe right amount of pleasantAfter moving to Chicago three months ago, my wife and I were looking for somewhere unique and local for our anniversary, and we were incredibly happy we went to Wilmette Chop House. The dining room is very small and the location does not immediately catch the eye inside the small downtown block. But the service, food, decor, ambiance, and staff were incredible. Our anniversary was on a Tuesday, so we ended up having the whole place to our selves most of our night. The Chop House staff gave us just the right amount of pleasant attention and never over did anything. We loved the Roy Lichtenstein-inspired modern art (by Chef Rob's wife, Madonna)with the romantic lighting, and jazz and standard music.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMwe will definitely be backMy wife's lobster bisque and my wedge salad were huge. I had a wedge salad the next week at a major steakhouse chain and was disappointed because of the standard Wilmette Chop House set for me. Our steaks (an NY Strip and Filet Mignon) were cooked perfectly, incredibly tender and with a substantial layer of spices crushed around the edges. For our anniversary they gave us an outstanding bite size peanut butter torte and two cannolis, as well as two chocolate martinis. My wife said she has never felt so pleasantly full. I left them the biggest tip I ever have (percentage-wise). We ended up recommending this place to my wife's parents for their anniversary and we will definitely be back.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat food, great serviceThe Wilmette Chop House is a fantastic restaurant. Great food, friendly staff, and romantic! My husband and I went for our anniversary both had the filet which was cook to perfection. I don't like green beans but they had the best tasting ones! What I liked the most is the chef stop at every table to his guests. I love to support local a restaurant with great food, great service all in Wilmette!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGet to the Wilmette Chop House! This place has brought the wonderful food, service, and swank from Chicago to the village of Wilmette. Hands down the best meal I have ever had in Wilmette. This is a wonderful place to go for any celebration, and they even have entertainment on the weekends! If you live anywhere on the North Shore, get yourself to the Wilmette Chop House!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMNeighborhood GemWilmette Chophouse is a great little place tucked in the middle of town. Great little hot spot in downtown Wilmette. They made everything perfect for us.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMPhenomenal food, phenomenal servicePhenomenal food, phenomenal service. My boyfriend the meat lover says the steaks are second to none, and I, the vegetarian have plenty of delicious options. Roger, our server, knows the menu and makes great recommendations. And you don't have to dress to the nines, which I appreciate. This place is our new home fav.3/1/2013 12:00:00 AMChicago originalLove this place! Chef Rob and Madonna make you feel like you are at their home....Highly recommend.2/23/2013 12:00:00 AMthis is the place for steaks! When there are so many steak houses in Chicago to choose from, why choose Wilmette Chop House? Simply because it is the best! The service and the food are great. I've eaten in the restaurant as a small group and hosted a private event for 50. I've never had a bad meal or experience. If you want a great dining experience, this is the place!2/22/2013 12:00:00 AMSee you again soon!Great food, service and atmosphere! Winner Winner Chop House Chicken Dinner!
See you soon!2/19/2013 12:00:00 AMnice steak house close to homeOur experience was excellent. We all had a great steak dinner. Everything comes with sides, so there were no ala carte charges to jack up the bill. Mussels arabiatta appetizer was delicious. The bread was the best! They get it around the corner at the bakery. Martini's were a very generous pour... need I say more! We are local Wilmette Dad's and appreciate having a nice steak house in town.2/16/2013 12:00:00 AMNew and doing it rightWow. What a nice, friendly place to be for a great steak. Wine list was small but it definitely paired well with their dishes. Service was professional. I could see why the restaurant was full. It is truly a find. I hate to even review it for fear of not getting a seat in the future :-) They are new and doing all the right things.2/12/2013 12:00:00 AMour new favorite placeExcellent! I've recently proclaimed that this is my new favorite restaurant! We split the gnocci appetizer (spinach, beans, cheesey, spicy) and then I had the special chop house chicken entree. My wife had a very generous double cut bone in smoked pork chop. We really enjoyed our meal. We will definitely be back with some friends to show off our new favorite place.2/2/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed our experienceEnjoyed our dinner very much. The service is perfect. The ambiance was outstanding. We will be back. Chef Rob is very talented.1/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
