  • "I live in the neighborhood and couldn't resist the coupon from Amazon Local to try out Wilmette Chop House. The dining room is attractive, small and intimate. There was a live piano player who added to the ambiance. The menu is limited and while I was thinking about their braised pork special, our waiter explained how the Pork Chop is many people's favorite. After ordering it, I know why! It had a ham-like texture and flavor, with a wonderful glaze. Oh, and it was enormous! The staff is friendly in this very small restaurant resulting in multiple pleasant exchanges with our waiter, the Chef (yes, Cannoli is better than guns) and the hostess (the chef's wife)."

  • "My husband and I have been here numerous times and they have yet to disappoint. Growing up in Nebraska, I feel confident in saying that I know my beef, and whenever I have ordered the filet minon it has melted in my mouth. I usually like my meat rare to medium rare, still mooing doesn't bother me at all, and it has always been cooked that way for me. The ambience is just okay, it seems like they are always changing things up since it is a small, small place and they have a piano bar in there, which makes for a fun night out too."

  • "After hearing mixed reviews about the Chop House, my wife and I took advantage of a Groupon to try it out. Overall it was a good experience. My salad was good, my wife's filets were tasty, the pork chop was huge and the Smokey/sweet combination really good. Service was good and the chef came out to say hello and to tell us where the bread came from (it was good). The only issue is price vs value. Without the Groupon, it would have cost a bit too much for what you get."

  • "The emergence of downtown Wilmette as a restaurant center has made the choices great and the parking difficult. The Chop House is unique in its upscale and steak orientation. The food is excellent, the service spotty, and the piano bar can make the noise level too high. But it is going to bring a clientele to Wilmette that will also help them discover the other outstanding new restaurants."

  • "The Wilmette Chop House was a very nicely decorated room. The food was excellent and the preparation was pleasing. The only caveat was is to not go there when the piano player is there, because he caused us to leave before dessert. Despite the piano player we will come back and enjoy the restaurant to its fullest, because the desserts looked wonderful!"

  • "We were looking for a neighborhood place that was nice to celebrate my husband's birthday. The Wilmette Chop House was perfect! Beautiful decor, live piano music, wonderful food and excellent service. The "green beans" Served with all main courses melt in your mouth. The Wedge Salad was generous and perfectly balanced creamy homade dressing. We also had the clams Casino as a special appitizer and they were delicious! My husbands steak was perfectly cooked. I had the Lamb Chops and I would just say they were overly seasoned. Too much dry-rub for the tender lamb. Otherwise perfect!"

  • "I took a party of 5 and everyone had something different Lobster, Tomahawk Steak and the Pork Chop and everything was perfect. I’m going back for the pork chop myself and will make this a regular trip just for that as it was one of the best pork chops I have ever had as it’s a must try. As the waiter described it I could tell his mouth was watering and I almost ordered it and wish I would have even though the Lobster I ordered was good along with the Tomahawk steak my girlfriend . The service was perfect along with the atmosphere. I can see this place outgrowing its current size."

  • "The food was incredible--all of it! The Chef checked on us to be sure we were liking everything. The Server was Great! He had the entire restaurant to himself and was busy all night. He did a wonderful job, not making us feel rushed. He also checked on us at appropriate times. We didn't have to ask for anything. He was always there at the right time to pour more wind or to see if we needed anything."

Chef and owner, Chef Rob, always stops at our table during our evening to be sure everything is to our liking. They are very accommodating with individual dietary needs. Do not miss the smoked pork chop - it's very special. Lastly, this gem is further enhanced with live music nightly."

  • "The place is very small. Some tables are comfortable but the small tables running parallel to path to kitchen are extremely close together- inches apart. Had very good steaks on a previous visit but this time the large porterhouse was remarkably poor quality. Can't blame the chef- it was a quality issue but that happens. They don't need to amplify the piano player in a room that small- it forces wait staff and diners to shout. Hostess should not berate waiter so that guests can hear."

The place is very small and there isn't much private space so if you prefer a spacious place, WCH is not for you. However, it was cozy and so worth the visit. Look forward to visiting again soon!"

The chef came around the tables and was friendly and informative. The wait staff seemed very busy and we needed a little more coverage during the meal but everything overall was very good."

  • "The space is tiny with tables squished too close together & a LOUD singer/piano in the corner with too much amplification. We sat 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. The appetizer (a 4-shrimp shrimp cocktail) came quickly & was followed too quickly by the entrees, allowing no time for pleasant dining. My steak was medium, not medium rare. When I told the waiter, I was commanded to cut into the middle and because it was still a little pink I was told it was OK. That's not how to treat a customer paying $44 for a filet. My date's lamb chops were done right on the inside, but so crispy on the outside it was hard to eat. She didn't complain because of my treatment. The chef never checked in with us, so nothing could have been fixed."

  • "I was there on Friday night and used a Groupon. My 'real' bill was $168. As I was counting out my money my girlfriend heard the servers say, "he's going to leave you twenty." I am a god tipper and I am glad I did not hear it because I would have left $10. I ended up leaving a $34 tip which will be the last money this place ever sees from me. I will not be back."

  • "I remember reading poor reviews when it opened, but I suspect it was just working out kinks. The martini's were great. Very nice wine list. The special appetizer calamari, could have been cooked longer, but we finished it. The steaks were delicious - asked for medium rare and received medium rare. If you are still hungry, order the bread pudding - it was enough for 4 people. It was a mellow Tuesday so there were only a few tables, but they still had a wonderful pianist who played everything but elevator music. I will definitely go again."

  • "We found the ribeye and trout to be very good, with nice sides. The escargot was a little bland. The problem with this restaurant is the decor and ambience. There is WAY too much vinyl, especially for the extremely high prices. Vinyl chairs (uncomfortable), vinyl banquette, vinyl table covers. The wall color is unsophisticated and the art is so cheesy. The menus are sealed plastic - like in a diner. The idea of the piano drew me, but the seats around the piano are uninviting and the tunes were WAY too old school and uninspired. To top it off, they sat a family of five, including two very little kids, right next to us, and the kids kicked the banquette over, and over, and over… If charging city prices, they need to create a city atmosphere."

We didn't realize they had a piano bar with a skilled player who played holiday music then happy birthday! The food- wow, our steak and prom chop were some of the best we have had which came with potato and a veggie too! Pod wine list and a full spirit menu available! We will go back and soon!! Oh, and I met the owner who was wonderful as was his wife an the rest of the staff!!"
