My wife and I met for lunch at Willow this past week and were pleasantly surprised with the newly decorated space and the new menu. It was a cold and snowy day, but the restaurant was warm and bright. The service was great and food as well.

Used to love going to Willow and sitting on the comfy couches by the fireplace with a few glasses of wine and appetizers followed by a nice dinner. The food is still quite good, although the selections are far more limited and they removed 2 of my favorite dishes. But worst of all, the ambiance of the back lounge area is lost. Used to be romantic and dim lit, now it is a poor attempt a modern and chic with bright lights and poor acoustics. We will find another spot :(

We enjoyed the food and the new menu at Willow. They also spent a lot of effort in redecorating the first floor and opening up the areas for better flow. All of our meals were excellent including a large brined pork chop and an order of carbonara that both got two thumbs up from the table.

My husband and I are self-proclaimed foodies and were excited to try the "new" Willow. We were not disappointed. We started with the deviled eggs and the tartare, which were both very good. We also had the pork belly bites and the curry mussels. Everything was delicious and the service was above outstanding. This is our new favorite restaurant.

I recently took my adult son and girlfriend out for dinner at the Willow, and enjoyed a nice evening in an attractive setting. Our server (Chris) was attentive without hovering, and helpful. The menu I'd seen online was very different from the one there. We shared a flatbread appetizer, which well very tasty. I was disappointed that there was no soup available, as I enjoy one as a first course particularly on a chilly evening. The apple/pear/blue cheese/bacon salad was delicious. I appreciate a nicely plated meal, and the main dishes were beautifully/artistically presented. The grouper and salmon were perfectly cooked and the sides/sauces were nicely flavored. It was a bit loud, but I would definitely go there again.

We sat there for about 7 minutes and finally had to ask if someone could wait on us. A girl did pour our water but never said a word that she was our waitress. We thought she was just helping out. She wasn't friendly at all. This was the first time that I only left a 15% tip. I don't like an over-friendly waitress but like one that says hello.

since the remodeling the selection of entrees has shrunk. the lack of a bread/rolls prior to service has reduced the quality in my mind of this restaurant. The caesar salad romaine was wet from washing and diluted the dressing. the anchovy on the plate was an attempt at upgrading a poor imitation of a caesar salad. the pear, apple, and cranberry was delightful. crab cakes were prepared with jumbo lumps and were excellent. will probably not return for dinner, but will try lunch before final judgement of Willow.

My boyfriend and I have always loved going to willow. Everything from the cocktails to the food have always been fantastic! This was our first time back since the renovation and we loved it just as much if not more! Love the new look to the bar. The place just feels more open and inviting. The menu is smalled but that might be the only down side.

We use to eat in Willow quite often, but the last few times we went the food was terrible. I had spoken to some friends and they had been to Willow in the last few weeks and both spoke very highly, so we decided to give it another chance. I'm glad we did, the food was delicious. Mussels in curry sauce, the sauce was so good. Our waiter was excellent! Very knowledgable about the menu, very attentive to our table but not imposing in any way! Will definitely be back again soon to try other items on the menu!

Food was very good. Limited menu could create problems. Will not return because of alcohol prices. The cost of Maker's Mark and ginger ale was $10.50. Three to four dollars more than other nice restaurants. Tanqueray and tonic over-priced as well. Too bad -- food was quite good.

Although we had a great time because of our group, we probably will not be back. Our server could not seem to recommend anything specific. Everything was 'good' or delicious'. Also, with only 4 people at the table, and at 5:30, a fairly sparse crowd, he couldn't seem to remember which 2 people ordered salads. The food itself seemed to be prepared to order, and tasted 'good', not 'remarkable'. $6.50 for a Sam Adam's Oktoberfest draft? Not doing this again.

  • A Disappointing Visit

Willow has been a favorite of ours for years, so we were excited to visit there last night for our anniversary dinner. Unfortunately the renovations to the menu weren't what we were expecting. The menu is much smaller, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but several old favorites were gone and the choices that remained were uninspired. We couldn't even find a dessert on the very short list that interested us. The two high points were our server, Alan, and the chorizo muscles appetizer. Sorry, but we probably won't be back until we hear that things have changed, again.

We looked forward to the re-opening of Willow as we are huge fans of the "Spoon Group' and watched the remodeling over the summer months. Sadly, the old space was more conducive to dining. The second floor is now off limits to individual patrons and the newly remodeled downstairs space is bland, with bad lighting and uncomfortable seating. The menu is limited and while the food was good, it is more like upscale bar food. Our server, Chris, was most attentive.

New menu is sparse, but food offerings are good. Only 3 choices of salad for dinner, with none being a "house salad". Miss the house salad they use to serve. It should be offered as a dinner side. No bread offering to nibble on while waiting, although Parker House rolls are offered as an appetizer for $5. Our server was attentive and pleasant. Really appreciate the improved lighting and the disappearance of the near darkness of before. The wait between placing your order and being served was a bit long, but the food was good. Also waiting a bit long for the arrival of dessert, even though the dining room was relatively sparse at that time of night.

Willow has transformed their menu. Now they have small plate options and some good lower cost food. I had a burger and it was as good as getting one from BRGR which makes sense now that Willow has the same ownership. They have been taken up a notch since the last time I ate there.

I grew up in the North Hills in the 50s and 60s and must have passed by this spot 1000 times in my youth. But my parents were not big on eating out and then I moved. My son now works nearby so the other night when we decided to celebrate a birthday the Willlows seemed a perfect choice. That's what it turned out to be. Recently remodeled the interior is pleasantly contemporary without trying too hard, the service is friendly and attentive, the menu varied and the food delicious.

This was my first experience with the new renovated Willow. I was hopeful the menu (while very different) wouldn't disappoint and it didn't! A party of 3 and we each had different salads, large plates, and desserts. All of our meals we're exceptionally delicious. The apple and pear salad was a highlight. The only issue we had towards the end of our dinner was the party of four near us that were so loud we had trouble hearing each other talk. (But what can you do??) Highly recommend trying out the new menu and Willow!

We had a business lunch here and sat outdoors. The new decor is welcoming and seems to have more light than before. The patio is lovely and quiet except for the occasional truck passing by on Camp Horne Road. (It does seem a bit odd that the patio faces the street; there must we some good reason for this.) My lunch was excellent - butternut squash soup and beets & grains were both fresh, healthy, and flavorful. The service could have been faster, particularly if Willow wants to attract a business clientele for lunch. I'm looking forward to coming back for dinner with my husband or an after-work beverage.

Although the food was good they had very few entrees on the menu and most were small plates like rabbit or boar!!! Our waitress was like a robot lacking personality and wanted to rush us through. The Caesar salad was exceptionally small and the cost of a lunch size. My quinoa and beet salad was good but my husband left hungry. We would not return and neither would the couple who came with us. It appears they are looking to accommodate the bar scene and not the dinner crowd. We won't go back.

Had lunch at the new Willow recently. Redecorated, new menu, same good food. The upstairs is apparently now being reserved for private events, so plan on dining downstairs. The menu is a bit more limited and with lower price points. I didn't understand the lower price points as we always found that prices at Willow were quite conservative. I had the lobster rolls for lunch - full of nice meaty pieces of lobster on Parker House rolls. My companion had the falafel pita. He said it was very good, but particularly praised the french fries, which he claims are the best in Pittsburgh (they are the same as the old Wllow's.) Good place for lunch or dinner., I will be back.
