Dining experience was enhanced by the excellent yet unobtrusive service we received. A waiter should know when to refill a wine glass and he did that right every time. Food was very very good! Fried cod and calamari was a great appetizer pairing and my tuna was the freshest ever! Kudos to this gem of a place and the gem of a waiter we had!

My boyfriend and I had such a wonderful dinner at Willow on Veteran's day. All open table reservation requests were made, and they really went above and beyond to be sure that we had a nice night as I was taking my boyfriend who is a veteran out for a special dinner. The drinks were great, food was great, and dessert was amazing!! Really can't say anything bad about Willow. We're excited to go back some time and try out the nosh menu in the bar area.

I returned to Willow after a few year hiatus. The good news is the restaurant was packed on a Monday night with at least one large group in a private room. They are doing a great business. It did impact our service, but we appreciated that our waiter comped us a glass of wine to compensate for the long wait. The prices were aggressive for the mains so we ordered appetizers and salads which was plenty of food. The dishes are complicated with so many ingredients. We enjoyed the smoked salmon appetizer, although I would have appreciated a little more salmon to balance the greens. My colleague loved her pear salad. My Caesar salad was definitely non-traditional with cheddar cheese and lots of other ingredients, but it was good.

Early Saturday night dinner with not all tables filled allowed us the luxury not found so much any more in American restaurants--being able to hear each other without having to boost our voices. Menu choices included fish, fowl, and vegetarian. The appetizers and entrees were de-lish! Our waiter was friendly and helpful. When he felt he was not knowledgeable enough about the wines and how one would fit with all the different entrees, he consulted someone who did. The choice was perfect!

My first visit. I live in Bethesda and working DC. Friends had long mentioned the Willow as a place they really enjoyed. The goat cheese brussel chips flat bread was the best I have ever tasted. The scallop appetizer was amazing. I was really pleased as everything was wonderfully delicious, including my entree of swordfish. . The manager and waiter were friendly, very knowledgeable and extremely helpful in choosing among the menu offerings. They were sold out of Zinfandel the evening I went, but the Malbec was pretty good substitute.

A place to go when you dress up a little. Good food, well-prepared, with some imagination but not so avant-garde or over-long on the ingredients list as some places, which is good. Scallops were fresh, meaty, and perfectly cooked. The chocolate bourbon cake for dessert is a real treat. Appropriately attentive professional service.

Have been to this restaurant at least a half dozen times. The food is okay - nothing really notable with the exception of desserts which are great. The wine list is overpriced. But the one consistent element is the incredibly poor service. Ordered a bottle of wine and a glass of beer when we sat down. We were almost finished with the salad course when it arrived. Trying to find out waiter to ask for small things was a challenge (maybe he had too many tables but this has been a consistent issue for us at the restaurant). The coffee came after we had finished dessert and we couldn't find the waiter to let him know not to bring coffee as we were done. When the coffee came, we then had to track him down to ask for cream.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Willow. The salads had a wide variety of flavors, and I loved the gold beets that were included in the beet salad. Maybe it was how they were marinated. Our waiter was attentive but not hovering. I had the sea scallops and my husband enjoyed the duck. They were both very good and again incorporated a variety of flavors. The pumpkin creme brûlée and the layer cake of the day were both absolutely fabulous desserts. I will definitely dine there again.

Brought out-of-town colleagues for a business dinner. Plusses: great food from the Nosh menu; terrific wait staff; lovely ambience, and overall the food was great. Some of the simpler things: devilled eggs, chicken dishes, soups, were outstanding, while some of the trendier, beautifully plated food like the pear salad with fennell and some weird little leaf just had way to much going on to deliver a coherent taste. Minus: Although the restaurant was pretty empty, we were seated right next to a loud table of drinkers. But I'd happily come here again.

Willow is well known in Arlington. The menu is small and has a lot of fish and seafood on it, so I find it a bit limited. However, everything we ordered was outstanding. I ordered the filet mignon and it was outstanding. The appetizers were amazing as well. I had the tempura cod and calamari. Excellent.

My husband and I ate here for the first time recently. Though the signature flatbread was tasty, my sangria was actually disappointing. I fully enjoyed the scallop entree complemented by a great veggie melange - wonderfully seasoned and sauced. My husband had the duck breast which by itself wasn't notable but the duck sausage and veggie combination that came with it was delicious. The dessert -- chocolate mousse -- was nothing special. On the negative side, though the dining room was comfortable and not noisy on this weeknight, the dull roar from a nearby private party spoiled the atmosphere. A little classical music and a few more sound barriers between the main dining room and the party room would be a good move.

The decor is a little bland but the food and service (except for our waiter) made up for it. Our waiter was nice but not very experienced. He didn't know the ingredients for food and rather than volunteer to ask I had to push him. Also my husband contintually asked him to leave the beer menu and he kept taking it! The beer list is amazing. We will go back but sit at the bar and get flat breads and beer.

Have been here for dinner several times, and it was consistently an excellent experience until the most recent dinner, when the service was spotty at best. The waiter passed by several times and either avoided eye contact or, when there was eye contact, said he'd be right back, which was not the case.

When my friend at lunch was told that he could not order an item featured on the menu because we were not seated at the bar -- what's that about? -- he took a few minutes to reconsider the menu. And our waiter took many, many minutes to circle back to get his order. After that unfortunate and slow start, the food and service were fine.

Based on my experience last year during 2013 Restaurant Week, I returned for it again (2014) Restaurant Week) after receiving an email that it had been extended to Aug 29th. It was a friends birthday who was visiting from out of town so we were celebrating. Our reservation was at 7. Everything we tried to order, they were out of from the menu they presented us with. This included wine, entrees and desserts. They were out of the fried chicken on the menu! What restaurant runs out of chicken. We had to send a dish back that was severely undercooked. I won't be returning to Willow again for a meal. It turned our celebration into a stressful evening for all. I've also experience service issues during other visits. I'm done with Willow!

We had been eager to try Willow and we weren't disappointed. The food is delicious and well worth the trip, no matter if you're coming from Maryland, DC, or around the corner in Arlington. We didn't know they had extended Restaurant Week through the month of August, so decided to take advantage of the lunch menu. One of us had the gazpacho, the other had the flatbread for appetizers. Well-flavored and excellent. We each had the salmon kebabs served over quinoa. Also outstanding! So full, we got the chocolate chip cookies to go. Thank you, Willow. We'll be back!

I was so excited to return to Willow, as I had heard such wonderful things. Sadly, I found the food very disappointing -- bland, which is the last thing I expected. We had Restaurant Week specials -- chowder, duck, ratatouille. None were exceptional at all. We would have done better at a local family restaurant. The redeeming features of the evening -- lovely weather at an outdoor table with a very attentive server.

Willow's food is very good, but they need to pay more attention to some details to achieve the top level they seem to be trying to achieve. (The flatbread appetizer was a little burnt, the main course arrived before I was done with my appetizer, and the spoon I was given for dessert was too wide for the bottom of the dessert dish.)

We have eaten at Willow a number of times, and each time we say we need to come here more often. Ordered from the restaurant week menu - eggplant flatbread, picnic salad, porchetta, all very good; smoked duck breast only okay - skin not crisp and very muted taste (no smoke taste in evidence). Deserts were peach shortcake and chocolate marquise both very good, although the chocolate was almost too rich & sweet. Our waiter steered us off of the restaurant week wine list and his recommendation was spot-on. For 2-3 $ more it was well worth it. Service was also very "Goldilocks", neither to rushed nor too slow - it was just right. After this I'm hoping we will get back here sooner rather than later.

Dined on the restaurant week extended special. Three courses for $32.50. First course of flat bread with roasted tomato and eggplant was excellent. Entre of roast pork loin rpwrapped in pork belly was very flavorful with fava beans. But the pork was so rare that I did not eat it. The desert of shortbread cake with fresh peaches was excellent. A really good meal was brought down to passable because of the undone pork!
