Willie G's - AustinHappy Mother's DayOur entire family (8) had a great Mother's Day celebration. The salmon, sea bass, crab-stuffed shrimp, braised short ribs, chicken milanese and even the cheese burger dishes were superb. Also oysters on the half shell and calamari were wonderful. This is a great new restaurant in Austin and we enjoy coming here. Finally, the bread pudding is awesome. Our server, Jaime, did a fantastic job. She was very attentive, personable and a very professional person. Caveat: you'll likely have to pay to park. Their menu was very impressive (both surf and turf), and their specials were lovely - quiches, crab cakes under Eggs Benedict (which we shared and greatly enjoyed). Their Mimosas also appeared to be made from a decent bubbly and fresh-squeezed OJ, so we weren't sorry to have ordered them. The food was delicious. I had grilled swordfish and my mom had crab cakes egg benedict. I have dined at the Willie G's in Galveston and had similar experience. Initially wanted to sit outside because the weather was perfect. But, there was a jazz trio playing, which was too loud to be able to converse over so opted to be seated indoors. It only got better from there. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous! Everyone we encountered there was very friendly.
Johnny,our waiter, was fantastic! Not many people can keep up with my husband's wit, but Johnny did!!! We had fun, had quite a few laughs and the food was phenomenal. Only one restaurant compares to Willie G's and it is all the way in Corpus Christi!!!
Tony had the New York Strip and I had the Black and Blue Redfish!!! Both mighty tasty dishes! Kudos to the chef.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThey really go out of theirThey really go out of their way to 'make it right' for you...we wanted low sodium so they spoke to the chef and voila! out it came, scallops still tasty w/o salt because they were SO fresh, atop of my Caesar Salad, which was delish. We took a couple for their first time, and they were exceptionally pleased with Snapper Tocana and Lump Crab over Snapper. Very well done. The service both times has been impeccable. The waiter was engaging and knowledgeable of the menu offerings to guide suggestions. We started with martini's which were good but very small for the price. Appetizers included raw oysters (yum) and calamari (a second yum). For the main course I had snapper melissa that had a crispy skin (the only way i like it) and a wonderful lemon sauce with scallops, shrimp and crab. My partner had the special of the night redfish that was almost as good. The menu has varied options so you can really control how much you want to spend.
