  • "My husband and I have enjoyed this restaraunt as a special occasion place for years but our last experience was a little disappointing. I love the decor but the upholstery on our booth was badly worn. Most of the food was very good but my halibut was overcooked. There were many empty tables for a Saturday night and most of the guests were in shorts. I'm sure they were hotel guests but it didn't make it feel like the fine dining experience we were looking for. We won't give up on it yet but I hope they make some improvements."

  • "Arrived & waited a good 20 minutes before even being recognized and seated. Once seated given water and waited a good 20 minutes before our order was taken. Mind you, only 5 tables occupied and 2 wait staff on duty. Order was finally taken and our entree of crab/artichoke dip took 10 minutes later to arrive. And when it arrived you wondered if the crab got up and walked away. Our meal finally came a good twenty minutes later and it was just okay. Entree salad was just that, no crackers or bread and plenty of red cabbage and dry chicken? The bbq rib platter was just ribs and homemade fries and no catsup or bbq sauce offered. Asked about bread which we had been told came when you were seated. Flys and cobwebs in the window next to our table."

  • "Food choices are quite nice and we enjoy the the flavors and seasons of the dishes. The chef does a nice job of the side dishes the accompany each menu item. The food is nicely prepared and service has always been good. The ambiance was rated a bit low because the restaurant has all the makings of fine dining, but lacks some intimacy or a nice touch would be to have tablecloths."

  • "Had never eaten here before. My wife and I both had the surf and turf (steak and shrimp). Excellent meal, we would recommend this place to our friends to eat."

  • "Good menu selections, chosen items prepared quickly and were hot and fresh, bread under baked but tasty. Attentive service. Comparable pricing with other similar venues. Plan on returning."

  • "Our group had 7 p.m. dinner reservations on a Thurs. On entering, a sign says "you will be seated promptly". Wrong. No one was at the reservation desk and one waitress was taking an order and facing away. We weren't even acknowledged for at least 5 minutes. Our waiter appeared 5 or more minutes later and we were given menus. After ordering, we waited well over 30 minutes for food (I think the waiter refilled our water one time early in the waiting.) The food WAS excellent but table-clearing was very slow and partly done by the only other wait-person working. Then the check was slow to arrive. There was little to no attention from our waiter during the meal. (Only 4 other tables were ever occupied during our visit.)"

  • "I had the fresh lamb chops and that were excellent and prepared perfectly. My wife ordered chicken, and while tasty, was a bit over done for her liking. We brought our own bottle of wine and they opened for a reasonable $10 corkage. The menu had a varied list and it appears that most people would be able to enjoy from a wide selection at decent prices. Definitely will go again."

  • "Service and food were excellent. I had the seared ahi and my wife had the beet salad. They both were very delicious."

  • "We had All you can eat Primerib. Good food. Our server worked very hard. It does seem they were a bit shorthanded. But, everyone was friendly."

  • "Willamette Valley Grill does a great job on their steaks but some times simpler is better. The meat high enough quality to not need to be drenched in sauce. I recommend asking for the sauce on the side if you like to taste your ribeye. Every time I order seafood here I end up sending it back for being overcooked or for a metallic taste. To their credit, the staff will work hard to ensure you get food you will enjoy. The atmosphere is great. The tables are separated by curtains to add to a sense of privacy and romance. For the quality of the food, the restaurant is well priced. Once in a while you can find a Groupon for half off, making my above mentioned small inconveniences more than forgivable. "

  • "Great Mother's Day brunch the last couple years, although it seemed like there were some foods missing this year. And the dessert table should have had more different items. The food is really good, and there is a good variety."

  • "We came to dinner and the waiter tried hard but was quite inexperienced, he was very pleasant but that was it. I had a rack of smoked ribs which were over cooked, and had far to much black char on them; crunching charcoal is not my idea of a savory meal. My fiancé had the prosciutto wrapped filet, which was luke warm outside and cold in the center. The waiter called the prosciutto bacon, which further showed his inexperience. I know they are trying to create ambience, however the seating arrangement and decorations looked like a cheap attempt. In the end I would not recommend this place to anyone. I can go to many other places, dine on better food, and spend less money. "

  • "Worst brunch ever - we will not ever go there again. We were seated, then our table of 10 guests went to get food. A waiter never came to our table to bring drinks (even though other tables had drinks.). We finally hunted one down when we were beginning dessert. He asked me how many coffees and I said 10. He acted like he didn't believe me and proceeded to ask each guest at the table if they wanted coffee. They all said yes. He returned 5 minutes later with coffee in mugs. By this point we were nearly finished with the dessert. He gave everyone their coffee and returned a few minutes later with the cream. He never returned. I guess this brunch only let's you have one cup of coffee and no juice or anything else to drink. "

  • "We usually really like this place- and had been for Easter Brunch before- in the actual restaurant. We were surprised and a little disappointed that it was held in the ballroom of the hotel- far more impersonal. If we had been warned that it would be in the ballroom, we would have made other plans. It would have been great had we had a large group. The four of us were seated at a large 10 man table and it was weird. The guy they had playing the bad electric piano in the back just sounded like a bass player just dinking around in the corner of the room. The food was reasonably good. Service was so-so. We will go back to the regular restaurant, wehre the service and the food are usually excellent- just not the Easter Brunch again. "

  • "Enjoyed a lovely brunch with attentive service, regularly refilled buffet and food to meet everyone's tastes."

  • "I have heard lots of people commend this restaurant. I have wanted to give it a try. The Easter Brunch was fabulous! We hit it at a very busy time and realized they were busy. The wait staff was attentive, though spread thin. Everything we ate was superb! We'd frequent the restaurant again for brunch or even book it for a meeting. I wasn't too thrilled with the ambiance, but I knew going it that it wasn't an intimate place to dine (therefore the 4 stars). "

  • "My family attended your Easter Brunch, and the food was great!!! The service for our drinks and other desires really lacked attention. "

  • "We ate at the bar even though we have reservations to watch final four college basket ball games. There was only one server maintaining the bar plus serving. He flatly declined to change the captions on big screen tv which is annoying. He then changed the volume using the remote control. That shows how much he really knows what he is doing. Food is ok. Ambience? don't go for it. We would not choose this restaurant again even though it is a good value for $20 Groupon!"

  • "My husband had the ribeye steak and was very pleased with the quality and quantity. It's difficult to find a good steak in Salem. I had the butternut squash ravioli - it was exceptional. Not low in calories, but worth each one."

  • "This place is usually really good but this time service was really slow. It took a while to get our appetizer and entree. The food was delicious however they don't have as many options as they use to."
    Dined on 2/16/2014
  • "The food was good, I liked their steak and I have had the lamb before on another occasion which was good. The service lacked a bit, some details were forgotten like bread plates and asking if our meal was good. The bar seemed lively."

  • "this is not the first time we have eaten there, but sad to say we were a little disappointed....the "seared salmon" wasn't seared..the mashed potatoes (my request to change from menu sweet potato) were not as creamy as I would have thought they would be...overall food was excellent quality, prep could have used some "TLC".....a note, piano player was excellent, added a lot to ambience."

  • "The restaurant food is very good. We went on Valentine's Day and the host wasn't very friendly and was unaccommodating. Plus you could not get any substitutions on the menu. The waiter said this was because it was Valentine's Day, so substitutions may be ok at other times. The waiter was very good and came around at the appropriate times, keeping our glasses full. I would definitely go again. But they should give the host some customer service lessons."

  • "The restaurant itself is a little cold, aesthetically. The two meals we had were good EXCEPT the butternut squash bisque was HORRIBLE!!! It looked like gravy. It should have been served in a large shallow bowl but was in a cup. You could stick a fork in it. It was so thick. Ugh!!!! I ordered Osso Bucco, which I do anywhere I can get it. It was flavorful but pretty fatty. I'm getting tired of restaurants serving "three ladies fingers worth" of wine for $7-$8, thinking they're Cosmopolitan......."

  • "Went here on a groupon and was so pleasantly surprised. The service was fantastic and the ambience was very nice UNTIL the bar started playing music, it filtered into the restaurant and ruined the ambience. Don't go for a later dinner unless you don't mind loud music. The prices are a bit expensive but food was good. I couldn't afford to take my family without a groupon."
    Dined on 1/31/2014
  • "The food amount is very very tiny. I wonder if that because I mentioned to use Groupon. $24 lamb is just with 5 almost total bare ribs with about 3 oz meat at at the end of the ribs, and some pieces of vegetable. I have to buy a burger on my way home."
    Dined on 1/23/2014
  • "I used to frequent this restraunt until menu changed. Decided to give it a chance since groupon had an offer.. Big mistake the food was awful! They are trying to hard to be a high end diner. Was not worth even half price!"

  • "The wait staff was quick to greet and seat us. We were seated right out in the middle of the room, when a table on the edge might have been nicer. We ordered pork chop, osobucco (which they were out of but forgot to tell us) so the order was changed to the ribeye and crawfish mac and cheese. The pork chop, served with green beans and mashed potatoes were very good. The ribeye/chimichurri butter was wonderful it was served with shoe string sweet potatoes which were good and grilled leeks which were impossible to cut and were too oniony to eat. The crawfish mac and cheese was served with no side the mac and cheese was good but the crawfish alone was tasteless. The ambiance was not special it was just ok, it was however clean and neat."

  • "The Willamette Valley Grill is one of our favorite restaurants in Salem. The chef comes up with great combinations of flavors, textures that we would never even dream of at home. It's a foodie's delight!"

  • "Very poor waiting time before we were seated even while many seats were available for a table for four. We arrived early but had to sit and wait for 10 minutes after our reservation time. I didn't like being told to sit down to wait for our table when I could see many tables for four empty but with reserved signs. We reserved ahead but were treated like we were without reservations."

  • "The food was fine - nice choices, turkey & fixings were the highlight. Held in banquet room instead of restaurant, because we didn't know upfront, we were disappointed. Staff was great & responsive. We were seated as soon as we walked in, slightly ahead of reservation time. Now that we understand the set-up, not so bad - looked like a wonderful opportunity to take folks who don't get out much - very accessible for walkers. wheelchairs, etc. Noticed staff helping folks by carrying their plates, etc. Would be a very nice outing for those in assisted living facilities or group homes."

  • "Eye-catching creative fall display to welcome us in to view the long, gently winding bountiful buffet, carving station & 2 round dessert tables - made us all feel we were in for a special treat! All the traditional foods done perfectly - from the tender & juicy turkey & prime rib to roasted vegetables & individual perfectly spiced apple crisp - There were many choices for each of our party of 5 with mixed ages incl the 17yr old bottomless pit ! Service was prompt & cordially professional! They were greatly appreciated! A wonderful family experience!"
