Diner Reviews
  • "We went to this restaurant based on past experiences and to celebrate the recent job promotions for my son and daughter-in-law. The service started out excellent but our waiter became less attentive as he was assigned more and more tables. This is not a knock on our waiter but the management for assigning him too many tables. Our son and daughter-in-law were both given very large special desserts to celebrate their special occasion which was very generous of the restaurant. The food was excellent. Cooked to perfection."

  • "We wanted to be outdoors and the place was perfect for this. The salads were delicious. The strip steak for my wife was done perfectly and tasty. I had the mahi mahi and would not order again. Small thin portion with dark pieces, didn't seem fresh, but then this is the Midwest. Dessert was a lemon tart plus and it was delicious and light enough to finish the meal. Oh yes, we each had a martini and they were excellent and not skimpy."

  • "Everything was outstanding! We all ordered something different and shared. We left feeling we ate too much but it was just so good!"

  • "A nice place amongst many shops and in a historic district. The restaurant has a very good selection of dishes including lobster rolls, prime rib, and lunch specials. The desserts like lemon angel cake and sorbet hits the spot. There is also a tempting chocolate place called Elwins right across the court."

  • "Ordered the scallops appetizer and I wondered where the scallops were! Portion size was small for the price. My husband had the French onion soup which was delicious! Can't say the same for the shrimp bisque... tasted like tomato sauce with very tiny shrimp and croutons in it! The filet was good and the lamb chops were just ok. Oh and my husband ordered a glass of wine which was in a Champaign glass! If I was to reccomend a steakhouse to someone, I would say go to Naperville (Alexander's)"

  • "My husband received a gift card for Wildwood and so we decided to try it for our anniversary. The menu had a wide variety of choices. We both chose the bacon wrapped pork chop with homemade applesauce. It was scrumptious!! Our salads were delicious as well. The garlic mashed potatoes had the perfect amount of garlic. The mashed sweet potatoes were divine! They could almost be a dessert! We saved a bit of room for dessert and tried the chocolate mousse and key lime tartlet. The tartlet was refreshing and light. The mousse was a creamy chocolate dream! The service was impeccable! Our waiter was prompt, personable, helpful and had sense of humor! We would definitely visit Wildwood again! We highly recommend it!"

  • "I met with a friend for dinner at Wildwood. You can always count on the food quality to be outstanding. I think it's the best steak in Geneva."

  • "The owner & his son were outstanding, as was our food. The waitress was beyond pathetic - service was non-existent! She had no interest in taking my list of allergies to the chef, said to hold on to it. My allergies are serious & life-threatening & as our friends mentioned to her, I was having surgery the following morning. She was unable to answer any questions we had & did not make an effort to find someone who could. We were celebrating Father' Day with our family & another couple. They made FIVE requests, all falling on deaf ears. She said she would get what they asked for & it was never delivered. My friend asked a bus boy after two requests for bread were not followed through with. He delivered it immediately. Not okay!!"

  • "Love everything about this place but sweet lord fire your air conditioner maintenence person or buy a new unit. Hot as hades with the door opening and closing to the outdoor dining area. I was melting all through dinner. Not very handicap friendly. The enterance to main dining area hard to find. The food was very good."

  • "Last Sunday service by Mirium was horrible. Our guest ordered tea and made selection but we had to ask for hot water and later for a cup. Has to ask for fruit and rolls after waiting for a long time. We placed our order and even though we were the second table seated everyone around us that came later got servered before us. Our order finally came and one of the orders was wrong. Both men requested eggs over easy and one came with scrambelled. We have been to Wildwood many times and it is our favorite in Geneva. Usually servers are excellent and food always is but if we were first time visitors and had this experience we would have assumed it was like this all hte time."

  • "Its a good place to find a good steak but depending on the waiter the service is iffy and the seating out side is way better than inside."

  • "My salmon was dry and flavorless, when I told my server he said he'd send the manager to the table. After waiting 20 minutes I asked a different server to send the manager to the table. After another 5 minutes the manager finally came to the table, did not introduce himself, did not apologize for the salmon, and had to be asked to remove the item from the check. He didn't seem to care that my meal was sub-standard or whether or not I came back to the restaurant. I will not return to this restaurant."

  • "This was our first visit on a Friday night when the restaurant was busy. Tables for two are a little close so it was almost like you were dining with strangers. The first two times we had the same waiter and he was awesome. Knew the menu, good at recommendations etc. The last two times our waiters have been just ok. Food has been wonderful the first three times. My date usually gets the steak and lobster and it has been great. I have had two great fish dishes and the lamb chops which have also been great. This time the waiter didn't understand or the chefs were different. Veal over done and my salad was wrong. Dates fillet was over cooked as well. Will go back but probably on off hours so it isn't as hectic. Service was not good this time. "

  • "Food was good, not great, service was so-so. ordered a bottle of wine and server couldn't get the cork out and broke the cork. Service was slow and they weren't very busy. Ordered Mahi-mahi and sole. Both were good but for $30 entrees they were nothing special. For the price I think you could go somewhere else and get better service and better food"

  • "Took my wife here for her 30th bday. Service was great and wine list was good. Smaller list if you wanted by the glass as opposed to bottle. Food was prepaired well. Would have liked a bit more seasoning on my steak. They do offer steak toppings but good meat should stand on it's own. Other than that, it was a good experience, even got a free desert for celebrating a bday!"

  • "We have not been out to dinner for awhile, and wanted to go where I knew I would have a good meal and great service. I knew I could count on Wildwood from my previous experiences. Good menu and big wine list. We had a great time."

  • "Had reservations for 7:15 on a busy Sat. came 1 hour early to meet friends at the bar and exactly at 7:15 hostess came to take us to our table. Excellent cocktails with great service in the bar. Steaks were good, dining room service was great."

  • "Great selection, great service. Other than having to peel your own shrimp, everything was delicious. From the Bellinis to the Bloody Mary's to the ravioli, prime rib, scrambled eggs, pancakes, fruit and dessert table, A+!"

  • "Accidentally charged for wrong table so was then asked to charge are card again for our bill so walked out short $250 for the week. A minor apology made but no real attempt to make it right. This year the brunch was really limited in food choices and quality of food and champagne. We had come to this brunch for three years, but this will be the last time. When I called to discuss our concerns I left a message that was not returned, had to call back and ask to be put on hold to speak to manager about the fact the double charge was still not cleared from our account after four days. Still only given a somewhat minor apology and no offer to remedy the situation. Really disappointed as I had really enjoyed Wildwood for years before this"

  • "My fiance and I were celebrating our anniversary, usually we go somewhere like Gibson's steakhouse but didn't want to go to the city. We decided to try Wildwood and absolutely loved it! My faince said the steak was better than Gibsons, and better on the wallet too! We will definitely be going back soon. "

  • "Love this place. Always welcoming with a great American bill of fare without getting "stuffy". Ambience is comfortable and elegant but not overly so. Not a quiet romantic place but certainly not noisy or overly crowded. Great for two or ten. The help is always nice and ready to please. Definitely a top spot in the Fox Valley. "

  • "Wonderful food, never disappoints! Service was a little slow to hit out table as the Wait Staff did not know who had coverage of our table! Once we were found, had good service and the Family Easter Brunch did not disappoint!"

  • "We had a lovely brunch. Food was good and lot's of variety on the buffet. I wish my kids were hungrier ... then I would have felt I recieved my value for the meal. None the less, it was a very enjoyable brunch. "

  • "I needed a girl day out after husbands long illness. His daughter gave me a gift card for lunch. I took my good friend and I loved it from the time we walked in. I felt like it was a special place, like when I worked down town in Chicago. Can't wait to go back for Oysters on Thursday."

  • "The dining room is a sophisticated mix of dark wood and glass. The bar is a separate room which would adjust a lively noise level for diners. The kitchen is open but well ventilated. Reservations are accepted for brunch which is a nice feature. Parking is plentiful and free. Beignets and fresh fruit are a complimentary start to brunch and all the offerings are appealing: classics with a few twists. Service was pleasant and prompt. The dining room was well staffed with highly trained. courteous people. All in all a very enjoyable afternoon."
