Wildwood Restaurant and BarExcellent dining experience.Service was outstanding, attentive and non-intrusive. The June Dining-out special was excellent, with inventive salad of shaved radish and asparagus in fresh herb combinations; fragrantly-spiced lamb; and perfect panna cotta. Other diners at the table had rave reviews of the mile-high hamburger with fried-egg. Wonderful evening.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial night outOur experience at Wildwood was all we wished for. In addition to the efficient and knowledgeable service we have come to expect at Wildwood, the food is always a new and delicious experience featuring seasonal, exceptionally fresh food. Asparagus salad? a great opener. Lamb curry? I've never before tasted lamb ribs with a light curried cilantro sauce. Delicious. Dessert of panna cotta , very creamy, lush with fresh strawberries was the perfect finish.
We loved the chance to sample small wine pairings with each course.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious again! We've been to wildwood numerous times over the last few decades. We've seen the gradual transition from northwest cuisine to a more global approach. The curried halibut is an example. Not a true curry dish but with the added rich flavor of a curry seasoning. Highly recommended . We ordered it twice in the last two week.
Added bonus of consistent cocktails. Very well balanced.
Definitely and consistently a place worth patronizing .6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMy group chose Wildwood forMy group chose Wildwood for the June prie fixe menu. Although the choices were limited, the presentation of each course was very pretty, and the food was very tasty. We also enjoyed the wine pairings for each course; kudos to the sommelier. However, there was a substitution made with the dessert course which wasn't disclosed when ordering, and we had to argue to receive a choice that was acceptable to us. The outside dining was very pleasant. The server, while cordial, seemed somewhat inattentive and not well informed about the items on the menu.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect!I went to Wildwood expecting to have a three-course meal for Portland Dining Month, but I'm watching my carbs and not eating sweets, so when I looked at the selections on the set menu, and then looked at the regular menu, I couldn't stay with my original plan. The halibut with bok choy, marinated cucumber, and green curry just called to me . . . and I listened! What a wonderful dish! My first several mouthfuls were of the vegetables, and I could have eaten those all night. They were fresh and hot and tangy; the fries shallots added just the right amount of contrast. The halibut was cooked perfectly--falling apart tender and sweet. The curry sauce was a nice addition, and peroperly understated. Cocktail: Barbara Collins--wonderful!6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Restaurant in PortlandDespite the competition, and it's longevity, Wildwood is Portland's finest dining experience. All the flavors, creativity and qualiy of locally sourced foods come together on every plate. Service is knowledgeable and supportive without a shred of pretense. The ambience is adult. I am always de lighted with new menu choices seasonally. Very few restaurants mix it up as well, keeping their game sharp and lively. Great wines and good cocktail choices. Lunch here is one of those great joys of Portland life. I hope it lasts forever.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMCarefully planned menu featuringCarefully planned menu featuring locally sourced foods. Very fresh and very well cooked. I took off a star because the vegetarian / vegan options weren't great, and that's rare in a city like Portland.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for lunchthe waitress was there whenever we needed her or just before. The grilled cheese sandwich and the pizza were wonderful with very tasty fresh cheeses on both. The wine was divine and coffee was great. They lest us sit there to discuss business and it was not loud so that we could. the seats were very comfortable. They even gave us a free mini-dessert.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I dined here twiceMy wife and I dined here twice during our stay in Portland. Each time was excellent. We received excellent service and informed decisions on wine pairings with the food that did not push the most expensive bottles on the list.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday GatheringI was there with family and friends to celebrate my Birthday. We were offered a complimentary glass of champagne and a sample from the chef.
Everyone was friendly, looked after us and even took a group photo!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOn my top tenA friend and I met for lunch on a sunny Tuesday. We were seated outside. The service was outstanding; knowledgable and just the right amount of interaction. The food was very fresh and prepared to respect the fine ingredients. I will certainly be back.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMreliably awesomeWe have been going to Wildwood for the last decade (lunch & dinner) and consistently amazing. Every dining experience is culinary genius: from gourmet interpretations on classic dishes to innovative cuisine. Every course, every time is sheer indulgence --> and thus our ALL-time favorite Portland restaurant. With food this great, it is very hard to venture away to explore other restaurants!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMLocal surpriseWildwood was recommended by a NW Portland friend who lives in the area. What a great place! The have a parking lot which is crucial for the area bereft of easy parking. The service was outstanding and very professional. The food choices, while limited, were all excellent. My two dining partners and I all had different dishes and everyone thought their food was great. I thought the halibut portion was a little small, however.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic restaurant providingFantastic restaurant providing locally sourced incredibly fresh ingredients. Wine list is delightfully Pacific northwest enriched -- and our waiter was able to provide very clear and accurate advice on wines for our dinner.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food. Terrible table!Great food. Terrible table! The server, the woman who poured water/ cleared table both commented on how awkward it is and how they couldn't reach. It was very uncomfortable to sit at the chair next to the booth. I made the reservation for 5 and we are not big people, they really need to figure out the seating!
Wildwood is very good. The service was good and they were very gracious about requests to adjust ingredients.
I've eaten here many times before and normally prefer to sit on the bar side. Next time I would not agree to sit at the weird table/ booth.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe celebrated our one son'sWe celebrated our one son's 21st birthday at Wildwood. Staff was attentive, delivering personalized attention in a timely, respectful manner. The bar area has better light and is much more fun.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent, particularlThe food was excellent, particularly the sauce with the mussels. The service was good and responsive, although a bit slow with the main course. The booth was a great location for conversation as requested but a bit cramped for five.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat quality, local produceThe food is exceptional, as is the service. The focus is still upon local foods, prepared in innovative ways. Our ONLY objection is that some of the dinner portions are getting smaller, as are some of the appetizers. The restaurant is very fairly priced for the quality, but it becomes a little spendy when the amount of lamb in the leg of lamb is marginal.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant is a farmThis restaurant is a farm to table gem with waiters who consistently give you just the perfect amount of attention.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AM4 key ingredients...Quality, Creativity, Execution and Taste.
Our experience with Wildwood has consistently contained these four essential ingredients.
Thanks again for an enjoyable tasty evening.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWildwood is an old reliable.Wildwood is an old reliable. One of the first excellent restaurants I found in Portland years ago. It is still very good. The menu is very focused, so worth checking before you reserve to see that it will meet the broad range of your party.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome food, great ambience,Awesome food, great ambience, service was a little slow, but the chef sent out a complimentary dish while waiting.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice, thank you. We wereVery nice, thank you. We were marking a big jump--making an offer on a Portland home the next day. We were welcomed with smiles at the door and taken to our booth. Drinks came immediately. An emissary from the kitchen brought us a little blue cheese on a crust from the chef to start; the salad, short ribs and lamb were all lovely. Our waiter was friendly and focused, suggested a good red for the lamb, and chuckled when I said we'd catch dessert at Salt and Straw. The red was fine and the Hefeweizen just right. Thanks, again. We'll be back after the move. --Susan and Joy3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the food here!We took a friend to Wildwood. It has been a favorite of my wife and I for a long time. The chef sent out some samples to get us started. Our friend and I had the ribeye dish that is only sometimes available. My wife had the ribs. We finished with two great desserts.1/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
