As the three of us approached from the west I could sense that something was different. The parking spot was unusual. More trucks, fewer Subaru's. A pawcity of Outbacks is an early sign of metropolitan decline. Setting that aside, the three of us left the lot and walked toward the entry, It was clear that synchrony was not with us this evening. Staggering forward we weaved, bobbed and quickly aligned our gate as if we were aware of a common objective. Totally believable food. What more is there to say really.....farm to table forever for you for us

We finally made it to Wildwood, as we heard, it's a secret tip in Portland. The ambience was nice, the food was good, dessert was nothing special (chocolate pistachio cake... we couldn't find any pistachio taste and almost no cake either, as small as it was. Overall it was nice but we think there are other better restaurants in Portland where you get for sure more special food for this high prices..We do not intend to go there for dinner anymore, but I would try Happy Hour again. I was there for Happy Hour before, it's a bit costly too, but the servings are more generous for the price and (at least what I had: crispy trout salad) pretty good.

Crab salad was perfect, just the right balance of flavors. Sole dinner was beautifully presented, with just-right sole atop a sand-colored bed of smooth flavor, with light crispy greens over all. Perfect wine, perfect dessert and better than perfect service!

Exceptional lunch at Wildwood. Have been going there for lunch and occasional dinners for many years and Wildwood never disappoints. Always an exciting menu with unique combinations of ideas and ingredients. Service was outstanding. Great setting for business lunches. Our office party of four ordered lunch. Crab cakes had no flavor. One Tombo Tuna was overcooked. Lamb bolognese had great flavor, put penne was under cooked. Ordered cheese sampler for desert. Were out of goat cheese, but brought three small slices of other cheese and three small crustini for the group--$10. The recommended wine pairing with cheese (sherry) was bad. We complained about wine. Got bill, and saw no charge for wine. Assumed it was being comped. Fifteen minutes later server informed that she made a mistake by failing to charge for wine and wanted to re-run AX card with the additional charge. All in all, dropped $300 for our Christmas lunch party and had a poor experience.

Our group of four stayed at the Northrup Station Hotel (one block away) and walked to The Wildwood for our 6:00 p.m. dinner reservation. We were seated immediately and greeted by the server and the manger. We ordered scallops, butter lettuce salad, and steak fraise salad for starters. We brought a bottle of wine with us and it was graciously opend and served. All of the starters were outstanding, but the steak salad was ethereal. The service was smooth, attentive and unobtrusive. Amazingly, all of us wanted the chicken breast entree, so the breadth of this review leaves something to be desired. However, the dish was incredibly flavorful and reflected tremendous care in its preparation. For dessert, it was the apple-fig sorbet.

I was determined to show my other half how good the Portland food scene is, and this was the obvious place to start. I had some anxiety as I hadn't been back in 6 years - things can change. But Wildwood was even better than I recalled, and my memories were pretty fond. Food was mind-blowingly good on a wide range of dishes. Service was attentive, considerate, and never hovering. For a hot restaurant on a weekend, we never felt rushed. Wine was stupendous, although that's really the credit of Oregon winemakers. I have nothing bad to say. Not a thing. I guess I could say that the acoustics don't lend themselves to lowered voices, but if the worst I've got is "a little noisy" that's not so bad.

The prices are much too high for what you get. The dinner menu is boring, particularly the entrees. The romaine salad is grilled and is terrible. The appetizers are too confusing. They charge for bread. This used to be a top notch place with the kind of dishes that became classics. They changed all the classics. It needs a better menu and a better head chef. The wine list is great. The specialty cocktails are like the appetizers -- a mix of ingredients that no one wants.

I was focused on my conversation, enjoying my time with a friend. The food arrived and, still focused on my friend, I pronged a forkful and stuck it in my mouth. Suddenly everything we were talking about flew out of my head, and I help up my hand. "Sorry," I said. "I have to pay attention to this." My friend wasn't offended - she had just taken her first bite as well.

This place is great. Everyone was so nice and pleasant starting with the hostess, to the server, and ending with a gal that got our coats and a lady outside as we were leaving. Unpretentious. Knowledgeable. Food was amazing and perfect. The waitress even knew we were celebrating something without telling her. She just guessed and brought us a complimentary sorbet with two shortbread cookies. And then brought us two more shortbread's of different flavor. It was all so great and helped me score some points with my lady. I will definitely be returning again. And again. And again.

My husband and I had autumn suppers, artful and delicious melanges build on chantrelle mushrooms, squash, wonderful sausage. My dishes, a gnocchi, was especially memorable with its gnocchi, sausage, crisp kale, winter squas, butter beans (?) and baked apple...such wonderful flavors, rich and satisfying. My husband had soup and green salad (not on the menu) but cheerfully provided. The soup, though a little oversalted for my taste (I had it, too) was a great broth with wonderful sausage, greens, onion and those chantrelles! Our waiter was excellent, professional. It is expensive at Wildwood. Our wines, rich chardonnays, were $14 a piece, the salad cost $9, bread was extra (though lovely) and the soup was $9. But, it was great.

The restaurant had a wonderful decor and expansive list of beers. Our waitress was very attentive and we received a couple things courtesy of the chef, which is always appreciative. My only complaint is that there aren't a lot of options on the entree list, but they do have a long list of starters that are delicious. Solid restaurant but with all the restaurants Portland has to offer I don't feel the need to return anytime soon.

Good but small menu, could use a couple more entrees. Food was good, portions on the small side. Drinks were also good albeit a little dated compared to the cutting edge Portland cocktail scene. Biggest negative was the noise; it was ridiculous, almost comedic watching us lean-in trying to communicate with one another. The design and decor was beautiful but the volume obliterated any sense of calm, luxury, or social element of the experience giving the diner a sigh of relief when the meal is done and you finally exit the space onto quite 21st ave.

The menu variety here is delightful, and always is. There's a core of items they play off, but things really are seasonal and they were pioneers in this particular approach. As a vegetarian, I always look forward to having different options on the menu, and both of my dining companions were wowed by the lamb. Great execution on the 8 items we tried, everyone was very pleased. Our only complaint is the noise level, which makes conversation difficult at times. Their cocktails are always unique and interesting, and they have some unusual wines.

Have been to Wildwood a couple of times in the last year, we do not live in Portland, this past weekend maybe because it was dark outside it was very challenging for all of us 40-50 year olds to see the menus even after we moved the table top candles. A bit more lighting would help and not kill the ambiance. This was noticed by the whole group and frustrating. Food was good, service good although a bit slow and eager to push another bottle of wine. Will go again but first will try some other gems.

My wife and I met a friend for a weekday lunch. The selection of items from the menu was broad and interesting; and, was matched by its quality. In fact, the chili relleno that I ordered was the best that I have eaten in decades. Also, even though our waitperson was a trainee, we received friendly and attentive service, with no hint of inexperience. All in all, despite the unavoidable lunch crowd noise level, the food and service more than compensated: far more! So, come prepared to part with some of your hard-earned money and enjoy a delightful experience.

We saved Wildwood as the finale restaurant of our trip, and had heard good things about it. The ambiance was nice, we were off to the side, which was appreciated. My cocktail, "Not on the Rug" tasted bland and left me wanting. My wife's Wildwood Martini was also not to her taste - too sweet. My Manhattan was great. The apps were tasty and were devoured: bruschetta was amazing, grilled leaves of romaine were delicious. Her chicken was very good, but my flank steak just wasn't up to par; a not very flavorful very small portion - my biggest disappointment. I finished the meal via a hearty portion of Ken's bread. To be clear: this is NOT a bad review, but I had heard such good things, I expected so much more.

The food at Wildwood is delicious and beautifully presented. There is a full list of first courses that you can easily make a meal of, the challenge is limiting your choices to a reasonable number so you can move on to the entrees. The combinations of flavors are unique and complex and work perfectly. For starters we had the best mussels we have ever had, plump and juicy with a sauce that required an extra order of Ken's artisan bread, and two salads, crisp, bright and interesting. Our entrees were the pork chop, steak, and lamb confit, all were excellent, perfectly cooked, with accompaniments that added just the right flavors and textures. Desserts are artful and heavenly. A stellar dining experience!

Something for everyone here. Seasonal menu always offers interest. Had a relaxing Saturday lunch with out of town company. Good selection of wine by the glass that pairs nicely with the food options. I admit, I hesitated to go to Wildwood at first; I thought it would be an older crowd, NW shi-shi. Happily I was wrong. I had entered into our open table reservation that this dinner was to celebrate our anniversary, not thinking much of it. The hostess wished us a happy anniversary and immediately offered us complimentary champagne. She sat us in a private booth that felt very intimate and warm: high backs, candle light, wood ceilings, fabulous food smells from the open kitchen. Wait staff were similarly fabulous and perfectly present, no rush. The dishes had the right balance of fresh, local, seasonal, and challenge. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Thank you Wildwood!
