A recent review called it as a
very good "neighborhood restaurant"-but it's really so much more. We and our foodie guests were wow-ed. From personable, well-informed staff to pretty presentation of delicious dishes, and an affordable, well-selected wine list, this is for those who want a truly exceptional dining experience without "pretense." The grilled scallops appetizer had a haunting, gentle smokiness complemented beautifully by celery root gratinee, a taste that still lingers my memory. The cod on white beans, savoy cabbage with truffled cream was a very special dish and oh-so-comforting. Unobtrusive yet totally attentive service. It felt as if we were guests in the home of a first-rate host/hostess. A truly special dining experience!"

I loved the friendly service and
attention to detail. I had a long lunch with an old friend and never felt rushed. Cauliflower soup was amazing. I will be back for dinner."

We have now been here four times
and it continures to offer outstanding food and exceptional serivice. While the menu is not large, it it quite varied with excellent specials. We were there on a Sunday night so it was only moderately busy. Can be noisy on very busy nights, but quite quiet when we were there. Wine list is not large but has some very interesting choices not always seen, escecially in Bethesda."

Food was very good and the service

This was my 4th dining experience
at Wildwood Kitchen in the last 6 months. I've chosen a different dish each time and can't honestly choose a favorite because they were equally delicious. Half of my visits were for dinner and the other half lunch. I do recommend making reservations in advance because the restaurant isn't very big. The wait staff was very pleasant especially this past week."

My wife and I were referred
because we like Marcel's, and I think there is a connection. I had scallops and a tornad (like sea bass), and my wife had squash soup and salmon. The scallops were excellent, but unfortunately the high point of the meal. The 2 fish entrees were just fair, and the salmon was a little over cooked. No unusual or sumptuous tastes like I was used to at the Georgetown rest. The soup was just fair."

I did not think the food was as
good as prior trips. I had their signature lamb meatballs which were very plain, neither tasty or spicy as advertised.....The octopus appetizer was excellent, maybe I should have had two of those and skipped the main course....."

Always reliable for a diverse menu
that is very good. Takes advantage of seasonal products too."

We stopped at the Wildwood Kitchen
on the spur of the moment and were delighted with the experience. The decor and ambiance were warm, inviting and intimate. This is a small restaurant, but the design makes it quite pleasant. The food was excellent. The service was good but not great. Recommend highly."

My new favorite restaurant -
always tasty and great"
Dined on 2/17/2014
We love this restaurant for its
food, ambiance, service and drinks (both from the bar and from the wine list). Every time we go here, we have the best service from knowledgeable waiters who go out of their way to ensure you understand the menu and specials and make the best choices for your tastes. In addition we are in love with the old fashion drinks made by the best bartender!! This young woman really knows how to handle a bar and makes every drink with care and delicious."

We made a reservation for
Valentines day, and had an incredible three course special dinner with wine. Manager, Jamie and the other servers were very friendly. The food here is incredible. I had the best lamb I've ever eaten. We live in the neighborhood and come to Wildwood Kitchen on special occasions."
Dined on 2/14/2014
Although menu was limited due to
Valentine's Day, food was great."
Dined on 2/14/2014
Your wine list is limited and very
selective. it would benefit from selections that are good and more moderately proiced."
Dined on 2/12/2014
We've now eaten here several
times, for both dinner and lunch. Put simply, it's great and I only wish there were more places like it in the area. As one would expect from the Marcel's crew, the food is consistently well executed and tastes great (really great, actually). The menu is not extensive, but between its variety and the specials, there's something for everyone (including my 12 and 16 year old). Service is efficient. The spot itself is quite nice, and the bar (including the wine list) is unusually high end for a suburban restaurant. Other restauranteurs should take a lesson from Wildwood: the place is often full, proving that the neighborhood can absolutely support high quality food!"
Dined on 2/11/2014
This is a great place- good food
and service . Menu is a little limiting and some items are a little out there ( duck for lunch?) but if they expanded their menu and soup and salad options (entree salads) it would be a home run"
Dined on 2/10/2014
Small, well-thought out menu well
executed. Attentive, yet not overbearing service. Maybe a bit overpriced, but not alarming so. For us, WK is convenient, has more than ample free parking (a HUGE plus in this area) and provides a range of dishes to satisfy even the most persnickety palate. Maybe not a "special occasion" destination, but the place has become one of our default, last-minute choices."
Dined on 2/9/2014
Emphatically not good for groups.
Only one table was designed to hold more than 4 people (in fact, the on-line reservation doesn't allow you to reserve for more than 4). As we were 5, my chair was at the end of a booth, in the aisle. Through no fault of their own, the waiters bumped my chair 90 percent of the time when passing through laden with plates of food and on the return to the kitchen with dirty plates."
Dined on 2/8/2014
Generally I felt the food was good
but overpriced. Cute restaurant. Probably won't go back anytime soon. There are restaurants I like better that are less expensive. Our waiter was attentive and friendly."
Dined on 2/7/2014
We celebrated a friend's birthday
with lunch at Wildwood Kitchen and had a great time. The food was very good, the service attentive, and the noise level moderate enough to allow conversation without strain. I have not tried the restaurant for dinner, but I can certainly recommend it for lunch"
Dined on 2/6/2014
I made a mistake in not sending
the food back to let them know what was wrong. The gnocchi had no taste! The special was duck confit. The skin was soft and not anywhere near crisp!"
Dined on 2/4/2014
Great food, beautifully presented.
The type of restaurant you do not expect to find in a shopping center. A popular place for lunch and dinner. Recommend to make a reservation in order to get a table, although the bar is nice too."
Dined on 1/30/2014
Nice location with excellent
service, but food was just OK. I enjoyed the pumpkin soup; the lamb meatballs were so-so. GF liked the gnudi for appetizer, but risotto was unremarkable. Our server entertained us with his knowledge about the preparation and ingredients of the food, and the service was very attentive. We really wanted to like this place (we are Brabo fans) but at least for this visit, it was not a particularly notable experience."
Dined on 1/28/2014
The menu is interesting and
delicious. The menu consists of Mediterranean cuisine with sauces sans butter or cream. The sauces are absolutely divine. The cheese menu and even the standard bread and oil (rosemary oil, no less) were also great. The service was so-so; it was a little bit slow and not really present that much, which was odd since there weren't that many people there. The atmosphere was very chill and low key, and the acoustics were decent. Great menu, cool atmosphere, so-so service."
Dined on 1/27/2014
I had the lamb meatballs as an
entree. They were quite good. All three companions had the salmon, which they really liked. They no longer have the chardonnay we liked on previous visits (Campus Oak). We had another chardonnay from the Russian River Valley and it was quite good. All-in-all, this is a very nice neighborhood restaurant--informal."
Dined on 1/26/2014
this was our second visit. very
nice wine list and drinks. I ordered the scallops as a dinner entree- just wonderful and perfectly cooked scallops. We shared the octopus appetizer- nice presentation and very good. My husband had the filet - not the best cut and thin so it arrived overcooked. We will return- very comfortable place to dine and nice atmosphere."
Dined on 1/25/2014
My husband and I have been wanting
to eat at Wildwood Kitchen since it opened, since the reviews have been so positive. Maybe it was a case of high expectations, but other than the attractive decor and delicious bread & olive oil starter, nothing really clicked with us. The food (beef tenderloin and seafood stew) were fine, but not outstanding. For the price, the proportions seemed very small and after dessert we actually left the restaurant still hungry. The service was friendly, but very slow. We just don't get what all the buzz is about, and with so many other good restaurant choices in the area, we don't plan to go back."
Dined on 1/23/2014
From the attentive but not rushed
service to the absolutely perfect seafood stew, I enjoyed my experience at Wildwood Kitchen immensely!"
Dined on 1/20/2014
Who knew that there would be such
a gem in a little shopping center? The food was outstanding- including the bread! Can't wait to go back."
Dined on 1/19/2014
This was the fifth time we have
eaten here and the first time we have been extremely disappointed. We never got the appetizer we ordered. The prices are exorbitant and the portions were so small we left hungry."
Dined on 1/18/2014
Extraordinary food, attentive
service, reasonable prices, easy parking - and serving late enough that it's the perfect late-dinner restaurant after a Strathmore concert or even a movie down the road. Every course was notches above any expectation, in taste and presentation: pate, braised veal, herb-crusted tenderloin excellent - and oh that olive oil-basted toasted bread!"
Dined on 1/18/2014
Had a very good meal with some
great service. Thank you to the server who waited on us, fine job and very accomodating. Please keep up the good work."
Dined on 1/15/2014
This is def more casual than any
of the Wiedmeier restaurants but doesn't lack in food quality or overall experience. I loved everything. The only negative was when the dessert was brought out the server didn't know which dessert was which and told me mine was mousse which it def was not. I had to flag the manager down to fix it. It's the best option in that neighborhood."
Dined on 1/16/2014
I have eaten at Wildwood several
times during my recent trips to Bethesda. I find this restaurant to be consistently excellent from a Culinary and Service perspective. Creative food presentation and prices are reasonable for the high quality."
Dined on 1/14/2014
The restaurant has an inviting
decor and we were able to talk to others at our table in normal voice tones. Although the menu is limited, with the specials it offered more than sufficient selection. The highlight of the meal was the soups, the beet salad, and the very crusty bread that was served. Main courses were good, but not fabulous."

This is our second time dining at
Wildwood Kitchen. Our first time there, we dined with another couple; and this time we were there with our daughter celebrating a milestone achievement. The menu was great both times, seasonal and creative. We were informed that the selections change almost monthly, which is a great plus for us. Our waiter assisted us in choosing a wine to complement our meal, and we loved it. We dined early on a Tuesday evening, and the atmosphere was comfortable and smart. The chef came out and spoke to us before we left, which we appreciated so that we could pay our compliments. We will definitely be returning next month to try whatever is new. This is our new favorite place for an elevated meal, fairly priced!"
Dined on 1/7/2014
I had a 5:45 reservation for two
and arrived a few minutes early. We were given a table for four at the window. Only one other table in the restaurant, also by the window, was occupied although there were a few people at the bar, which is just by the two window tables. It was a very cold night and as a result the window tables were quite cold. We asked the Maitre D' to move us to one of the two dozen+ vacant tables. He hesitated and then said he could move us to another table if we agreed to finish dining by 6:30 because the other tables were reserved. We reminded him that we had a reservation too -- and a waitress urged him to move us. Nevertheless, he shrugged his shoulders and said "take it or leave it". We left it and dined elsewhere."

We recently went to Wildwood
Kitchen for lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. When we inquired about wine recommendations, I appreciated the fact that they took the time to recommend wines that paired well with the meal rather than (what usually happens) recommending the most expensive wine they have. Nice place and we will be back."
Dined on 1/5/2014
Small servings and big prices. The
food itself was just ok."
Dined on 1/2/2014
Wildwood Kitchen did a wonderful
job New Years Eve. They had a 3 course menu with an additional wine pairing. There were 3 selections per course everyone of them outstanding. We have dined here many times and the food and service is always excellent. They did not disappoint this time either. We will continue to dine here without hesitation. You feel like you are in a New York bistro. It's hard to believe you are in a shopping center once you enter."
