A word from Wildwood Barbeque
At Wildwood, enjoy multiregional barbeque in a rustic urban setting, inspired by smoke shacks across United States. Led by ‘BigLou’ Elrose, a former NYPD motorcycle cop, Wildwood is a brisket and bourbon temple of meaty goodness, originally designed by David Rockwell, and sports-watching destination. The 100-foot long open-seating bar area is perfect for sharing a bucket of beer with buddies and catching a game on one of 10 HDTVs, while the large airing dining room can accommodate groups of all sizes.

BBQ staples like Kansas City baby back ribs and Texas smoked brisket are crowd pleasers for a night out with buddies, big games or celebrations. The Caribbean Jerk wings, Wildwood nachos and Pittmaster Pigout Platter hit the plate in huge portions and wow every time. Wash down your dish with an interesting craft beer selection, or a pint of the featured “One and Done” keg. Cocktail and wine lists are carefully crafted to pair with the menu’s smoky flavors.

The food was good but I have such a problem when the food is put down in front of us and we never see the waiter again. Why? There were very few people in the restaurant and we would have ordered more drinks and dessert if he had come back. Also, if I make a reservation I have an expectation of being given a good table.

Have a child with allergies and heard that BR Guest restaurants were accommodating. This was above and beyond my hopes. Peter, at the front desk, talked to us about our allergies ... showed us to our table ... and went in the back for a moment. Out came Curtis, the chef, who sat down with my son ... talked to him about his allergies and they jointly decided what would be prepared. My son was very much at ease and asked if we can come back to Wildwood when we next come to Manhattan. If the entire chain of BR Guest restaurants is as good as this one, I look forward to nationwide expansion.

I do not expect great bbq in a NYC and Wildwood certainly met that expectation. I ordered the ribs and the mac&cheese for a late lunch. Both items had no real flavor to them, and the ribs were quite dry, like they were sitting under a heat lamp for hours.

Food was typical commercialized BBQ. Service was extremely slow, especially given that our tab for 12 people was very high and would likely result in very high tip, if only tended to in the normal manner. We had to get out of our seat to request drinks, to place our order, and to request the check. Overall - I will never return. And the food is pretty terrible. Stay away. And my expectations were pretty low before I went.

BBQ was great the 1/2 chicken in the combo was great. However they stuck us at a corner booth for 2. Seating was the most uncomfortable booth I have ever sat in and it was near the door to go out for a smoke. Every time someone went out huge cloud of smoke rushes in, other than that this is a fun place with great food.

  • This was the third time we've
    PeteLoves2Eat

This was the third time we've visited Wildwood and each time has been delicious. This time, we shared a full rack of the Kansas City baby back ribs, with sides of sweet potato fries and sauteed kale. The ribs were fantastic! Meaty, moist, sweet and flavorful. We took a friend who lives in the Canary Islands, so she could see some good American comfort food and she, too, loved the ribs and the sweet potato fries. Turns out I was the only one who liked the kale, and it could have been sauteed a tad longer, but I thought it was very flavorful and was a nice contrast to the rich, yummy meat. Anthony, our server-in-training, was also great! He was very outgoing and friendly and he added to the overall great experience we enjoyed.

Good place for brunch with the family. They had crayons and coloring sheets for the kids. We had the waffles and fried chicken. It was okay. Enjoyed the music and the service was friendly. Left my bank card there and they were very good about keeping it until I was able to pick it up (they had a binder full of cards). It was quiet for a Sunday but it was Labor Day weekend. I can imagine that it can be noisier on other weekends, especially during the afternoons & evenings, because it seems like a sports bar too.

  • Mediocre-Poor BBQ
    B5tcp
    Dined on 8/17/2013
Food was reeeeaaallly poor. Ribs tasted like they were hastily swabbed with extra salty (very salty) spices and thrown on a plate. The sides of mac and cheese and grilled corn tasted like something I made in my college dormitory microwave, they were that pathetic. On top of that, (no doubt the kitchen's fault) they served our friend's meal a good 20 minutes before our meal was served. Our friend, being a polite Southerner, refused to eat until our food was served thereby resulting in his food turning cold when ours arrived. To the restaurant's credit, they comped us on a round of drinks. But honestly I can't justify going back there when there's plenty of other legitimate BBQ options in the city where more pride is taken in their product.

It's cliche but its finger licking good! Excellent service. Our server and the manager were super helpful and attentive, very friendly staff. Only complaint was the restaurant week menu was uninspiring and not a good representation of their main menu, which I personally always find disappointing. We did the regular menu and it was delicious. The Mac and cheese was the best I have had in a long time. Price wise it wasn't that different than a RW price fix.

Order carefully at Wildwood...the portions are huge and you'll never be able to eat it all (but you'll want to). The food was delicious. We sampled everything, but our favorites were: the mac and cheese, bbq chicken, skillet corn bread, bacon, pulled pork, ribs, and filet mignon skewers - just to name a few. Very reasonably priced for the amount of food that you get. We didn't have room for dessert!

    cropenVIP

Each time I come back I like it less. KC ribs are always dry and seem reheated. Nachos are too sweet from the chili and other toppings are disheveled and can't get good flavor balance for a tasty bite. Mac n chz is topped with big pile of sawdust, crumbled crackers which are dry and don't enhance. Mash potato taste like cafeteria food. One of worst offenses was chicken n waffles came with unidentified chic pcs. They make a decent fried chic here so I don't know why they top the waffles with weird fried chicken pcs that look like hot deli buffet. They took off chic fried steak from menu which was quite good. On top of menu/food getting worse, service was super slow last visit. If you're not in a rush it's a lively place to just hang out.

I came here for my friends bday because she LOVES BBQ. I'm vegan so I can't give you a first hand account on the meats, but my friends had ribs (Kansas City Style and the Chicken & Rib Combo) and enjoyed them. Along with their mean was a side of sweet potato fries, grits and garlicky green beans(green beans were very tasty). I had a side of the kale, which was good, but for 4.95 I would have like a larger portion. The drinks were tasty I had the Kansas Cooler and friend had a Rasberry drink I'm not sure of the name but it was really good as well. All in all I had fun if you're vegan eat before like I did if you're vegetarian you should have a lot of options. S/n I brought cupcakes from Sprinkles and they brought it out and sang it was nice
