Wildflowers at Turning StoneRare high-end dining in CNYSelections from the compact menu were unusual, creative, bursting with flavor; little works of art. Loved the "surprise" courses, including a venison sausage, unexpected plate of dessert sweets and "parting gift" of lemon cakes. Staff were plentiful, attentive, exceedingly-polite & helpful. Attractive, dimly-lit, woody, contemporary/Sixties-styled seating area. Pricey, but justified in the mind of this diner by the high-end fare and exemplary service. Only disappointing aspect of the evening was this couple seeking quiet conversation being seated in uncomfortable proximity to a large party of gents visiting the Turning Stone for a golf trip, which made private conversation all but impossible. Will return, requesting a more secluded table.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMTurning Stone Rocks! One of the best dining experiences I've had. The Duck Confit was outstanding!
All of my group were wow'd!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe finally got to check thisWe finally got to check this place out and we used our dining check from opentable! The food was everything it was touted to be. The chef's lineage is part of the Thomas Keller Group so you know you're getting one of the best in the business. The service from both Alex and Michael was second to none and we can't wait to go back.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMBest meal but not enoughIt was great- but I left hungry- one more sub meal would be better so you get a little more full and they don't have to increase the classy small portions.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service wereThe food and service were great. The menu was a bit limiting, which was a bit of surprise. However, based on the number of people that the place can seat, it is understandable. The prices are a bit on the high side, but for a special occasion, it certainly is a nice spot.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's a nice place and theIt's a nice place and the folks working there were eager to please. Unfortunately my husband and I both did not care for our main course because his was too rich and heavy and my main course was so salty I couldn't eat it. The other couple with us had simpler fish dishes which they said were good. Salt is meant to enhance flavor, not be a main flavor.
It is always awkward to speak up when food is just badly prepared when a place is doing everything else right,it's not our style to make a fuss. We've had brunch here several times and that was always very good. If butter, cream & salt are not your thing, choose your food carefully!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely relaxed atmosphere,Lovely relaxed atmosphere, service was attentive and courteous3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThey pulled out all the stopsThey pulled out all the stops to make our 10th anniversary special.
