I think I noticed this more as we were not greeted at the door, instead we were forced to hover over dining patrons until I was able to flag down a server and let her know we had a reservation! She hadn't been before and was up for trying something new. This was my 5th time at the Wildflower Grill and as usual, it didn't disappoint. We chose to share some lighter fare options, which allowed us to sample more of the menu. The mixed vegetable salad and thai green curry dish were outstanding! We finished off our meal with the lemon tart, which was also decadent. The service was very professional and we were not rushed at all. I would have preferred if the noise level would be lower but there were a few larger groups having fun. The hostess and waiter were friendly without being intrusive. The waiters recommendations on signature plates was excellent. The sablefish dinner was one of the best dinners I've eaten in the Edmonton area! All portions of the meal were well presented, hot and delicious. Service was well timed - we wanted a slow and intimate evening and they complied! No rushing to get the next dish onto our table. Loved it. This restaurant made our 35th very special. The food was wonderful and everything about the restaurant made it a little different from other restaurants in the city. The menu featured excellent fish and some game meats. The desserts were unusual and very appealing. The portion sizes were appropriate. The clientile at the restuarant were dressed in business casual attire and there were no loud voices or high volume music so you could easily have conversation throughout your meal. As a gluten free eater, the chef, who greeted us at the door, offered that I should select my preference from the menu (with one or two exceptions) and they would look after the rest! How nice to feel that they were prepared, willing and able to accommodate. The cranberry champagne cocktail was flat, and not very exciting. I think the restaurant could do better to come up with something interesting there. We also did not like that the gratuity was automatic at 18%, for two reasons; service was not that good, and we ordered three bottles of wine over $100, and to tip on that is not fair, there is no more work that has to be done with a $100 bottle wine than to a $30 bottle. So if your group is six or more be aware that you'll have no choice as to the tip.
