A word from Wildfish Seafood Grille - Scottsdale
The only thing primitive about Wildfish Seafood Grille is the swimmingly fresh seafood -- mostly caught the day before and shipped next day on ice. Otherwise, this cosmopolitan bistro is as sophisticated as any fine eatery in New York or Vegas. Burnished wood, dim theatrical lighting, cozy tables, a stylish exhibition kitchen and central bar with several TVs available to catch the game embellish the interior. Veteran restaurateurs Guy Villavaso and Larry Foles (Z'Tejas, Eddie V's Edgewater Grille) have created a fierce seafood-steakhouse combination, which attracts food-loving couples, ladies on a luxurious night out and sexy singles at the bar. Because Wildfish is not as wallet-busting as similar concepts in the area, go ahead and start with a spicy lump crab cake surrounded in a buttery remoulade sauce. If you're in the mood for steak, pick a finely aged filet, rib eye or veal chop.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "The food was delicious. Outstanding menu, but can't say the same about the service. 1. We had to wait forever for the server, note the restaurant was not crowded. 2. The server forgot the wine & utensils – we had to ask multiple times for both. So we sat there looking at the food waiting for utensils to eat it. Waited for ever for the drinks, waited for every for just about everything. "

  • "I tried their Florida Grouper and could not eat it. That was the worst grouper I have ever had in 65 years. It was like a piece of rubber. I had to use a knife to cut it. On the plus side they offered to replace it but by then I had lost my appetite. In the end they ended up not charging for the fish without me having to ask. "

  • "Three of us went to Wildfish for a birthday celebration. It was our first time there, chose it based on many good reviews. Our server, Michelle, was pleasant, professional, and attentive. It was her first night "on the floor;" we thought she did very well. Our appetizers (crab cake, lobster bisque, and salt and pepper shrimp) were very tast and large portions. Our entrees were also quite good ( Ahi tuna, scallops, and halibut). Again, each was cooked beautifully- the tuna is not cooked, but was at room temperature, which I liked. We ordered several sides: crab fried rice (tasty), truffle mac and cheese (decadent), sautéed spinach (lacked flavor), and Brussels sprouts (very tough and no flavor). Great molten cake served as birthday dessert."

  • "They were very friendly and prompt at seating us. We sat down, someone put bread on table, we looked over the menu and the wine list. A while went by and nobody brought us water or even said they would be with us soon. Several staff members passed our table. Finally we stop someone and asked if we could get some water. He said you'd like more water? We said, well we haven't been waited on yet so some water would be nice. He looked at my husband and said would you like more water? ? We waited 15 more minutes I decided to time it. No one came by, so it is now 9:00PM, so we went down the street and got great service and food. If you only new us, you could bring my husband or me something we didn't order and we wouldn't say anything. "

  • "We are from the East Coast and used to fresh seafood. Didn't expect to find it Scottsdale but here it was. Everything we had was delicious: swordfish, crab, tuna, cocktails and the molten chocolate cake! We ate outside which was lovely and Nico, our server, was quite attentive. Highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "It is a bit challenging to find good, fresh seafood in Arizona, but Wildfish does deliver some excellent options. Food was excellent, but the service was a bit spotty with our last visit. Our waiter was intermittently attentive, most often ignoring hand gestures as he approached the tables around ours. We were celebrating a birthday, and we were treated to any dessert on the menu which is a nice alternative to the customary "free" dessert that is often given for special occasions. This place is ALWAYS noisy, but asking for a table along the periphery helps but still can make conversation a challenge at times. Overall very good experience, a 'return to' spot."

  • "After a wonderful time at the Chihuly exhibit at the Botanical Gardens, we were met with a warm greeting from the hostess staff. Dillon our server, was very knowledgable about the menu and was warm, friendly and professional. We had wine, split the BLT bacon & blue cheese salad, which was a perfect portion for each of us. Our entrees Chilean sea bass and Scallops were the best we have ever experienced. We shared a creme brûlée (which was ok). Overall, our experience was flawless and we will definitely return. Arriving at 9pm, there were fewer patrons so the noise level was very quiet and the staff made us feel that we could relax and take our time. We did not feel rushed to leave. Even the Valet was prompt in retrieving our vehicle :)"

  • "My husband and I have eaten here before. We have never been disappointed. My halibut was so fresh and tasty and my husband's steak was done just the way he likes it. We both ordered a small twice baked potato. I think we could have split one small one - very tasty We are from Ottawa and are usually in Scottsdale on an annual basis. We will be back."

  • "We have loved Wildfish before but not so much this time.the table was impossibly dark..could not see anything..way at the back. The seafood chopped salad was almost completely lacking in seafood. The calamari appetizer was greasy and not good. Maybe just an off night..we will try again."

  • "We were a few minutes late for our reservation, but they took us right away. Got great advice from the waitress on appetizers. We got a couple of salads and an entree. They split the entree for us, which was really nice."

  • "We really enjoyed the evening we spent here. Loved the restaurant !! Our table wasn't in the best location but the food and wine made up for it. Would go back if we ever return"

  • "Great food, If you can get Edgar as your waiter he is a must. Spends time explaining the menu. Not a rush job and speaks clearly and slowly. Is very knowledgable. Great atmosphere. We were seated on time and service of the food was timely."

  • "Had the surf n turf special. Filet was served as medallions- disappointing. Ordered it done medium plus. Was medium well with a char on outside, not to my liking at all. Shrimp were small, not what you would expect from a seafood place. Sauce was good. Quite disappointing for $49. Server hovered and wanted to visit with us about HIMSELF the whole evening. Thought he was going to pull up a chair! Felt rushed, even though the meal was slow to be brought out. Beautiful atmosphere, looks like a good menu. Will give it one more try- just not anytime soon."

  • "We had four people who all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Three of us had the halibut which was outstanding. One had the sea bass which didn't look good on the presentation but was also fantastic. The bananas foster dessert is incredible. A different twist but very good."

  • "From the minute we walked in the door we knew we were welcome. Wildfish staff is so friendly. The menu is extensive and has items you won't find at every other eatery. Everything comes to the table hot. The only thing that wasn't perfect about our visit was that the halibut I ordered was a bit on the mushy side, as was my friends. Overall, we had a superb time and would definitely visit again."

  • "My husband and I took my parents to dinner as a Christmas gift. They were extremely impressed as were we. The waitress was great and very informative. Though the food was of great proportion we thought the prices to be higher than we can afford."

  • "There are so many great restaurants in town, I'm just not sure this one makes the cut. When I booked, I forgot to request patio seating so I called the restaurant to request that. When I arrived, they didn't have that request and said they had NO tables on the patio - except those reserved for larger parties. I noticed a 2-top and pointed it out. They finally sat us there. I ordered simple salmon and "a lot of broccolini" instead of the asparagus and slaw that came with the BBQ salmon. The salmon arrived sitting on two tiny pieces of broccolini so I asked for a little bit more. I was told they would have to charge me for a full side. I had to talk to the manager to get a bit more which was unnecessary and uncomfortable."

  • "Wildfish Grill is packed during the winter months, reservations a must. Since it is so busy service can be some what slow so expect to be there for a while. Scallops were perfectly cooked as was the Grouper. Brussel sprouts were over cooked and hard to eat, but in all it was an enjoyable experience."

  • "Wildfish never fails to deliver. The food is outstanding, and the atmosphere is fun, energetic and upscale, without all the hassle of the bigger seafood places. I really love it here, and continue to go back for any occasion, business or pleasure."

  • "We had a wonderful meal at Wildfish Seafood Grille on Friday evening, March 28. The three of us chose different entrees, including tuna, Chilean sea bass, and the stuffed shrimp. All three were very good choices, the sea bass was prepared Hong Kong style with a soy sauce and it was fantastic. My husband's tuna was perfectly prepared as well. The bread is warm and delicious and the side dishes were fine, especially the parmesan and chive French fries were great. Our waiter was Edgar and he did an excellent job of describing the specials and his favorites and made some good suggestions for our meal. He was very pleasant but not overly intrusive and the service overall was impeccable. I would definitely go back for a memorable meal."

  • "We have made Wildfish a tradition for our family whenever we visit Scottsdale. Patio dining delightful on a beautiful evening, and far less noisy than inside (which can be difficult if at a large table). Apple salad outstanding as usual, caesar salad less flavorful than usual. Scallpos, swordfish and grouper outstanding. Great french fries and brussel sprouts. Chocolate cake a terrific dessert."

  • "food was slow and bland. :There is no creativity nor uniqueness here. Entrees were backed up and it took 30 minutes between courses to get our entrees. Great setting but coming across big chain like and not special."

  • "great food. Waiter pushed a little too hard to get our food choice in all at once. We wanted to sit and take it easy and he pushed a little too hard to get everything in at once. I would still recommend this location. The sea bass was amazing."

Cosmos were great my husband had lipstick marks on his gin and tonic glass which we noticed first :( Food was excellent and portions were great to share for two. Table setting had no salt/pepper and had to ask for our table. Otherwise service was good."

  • "Was looking for a good place that had seafood as my wife is a seafood lover. After some searching we decided to check out the Wildfish Grille. From the very beginning the staff was very courteous and friendly. We were seated immediately and our waiter Charles came over. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and made some recommendations. I especially liked that we were able to eat our meal and our waiter only stopped by when he saw we needed something."

  • "This is one of my favorite restaurants. The service is 'on point' and the food is always delicious. The batter-fried oysters are melt in your mouth tasty. The shrimp lobster bisque is light and flavorful. The Wildfish Chopped salad is the most satisfying way to meet my healthy daily requriements, full of crab, shrimp and a light dressing which compliments and does not overwhelm. A must visit!"

  • "This restaurant offers indoor and outdoor dining at a convenient location near the major shopping center, close to the Nordstrom entrance. The menu concentrates on steak and seafood. Appetizers are unique, tasty, and for us, the best part of the meal. Seafood options are above average, but some options are on the expensive side. Side dishes are average. Bananas Foster cake flambe was an excellent dessert choice. Everything is a la carte. There is a good selection of moderately priced wines by the glass. Waitstaff was accommodating and efficient. The restaurant has a refined ambience, and diners wear anything from shorts and tee shirts to suits and ties."
