This is one of the best restaurants in the Northern Va. area for a get together. No waiting as the Open Table Reservation got us seated immediately, even though it was a very busy time. The meal was delicious as we had steaks all around. All were cooked to perfection and seasoned to temp the palate. Dessert was served, which we all split two chocolate lava cakes, YUM!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMothers Day evening DinnerWe choose to eat in the evening rather than at a typical holiday brunch time. We made reservation for 7:30 pm and was seated promptly. This proved to be a smart choice the dining room was about two thirds full and not as tight. As usual we enjoyed everything about WildFire, the food, wine list and desert the wait staff was excellent. I ordered the Porterhouse Lamb chops, they were very flavorful and cooked as requested. The Mother's Day selection of wine from Benzinger Vineyards ( Cabernate) was excellent, we had two bottles one each of 2008 and 2009 vintage.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day Brunch SuccessMy mother chose Wildfire because a friend recommended it to her. I made the reservation, looked over the menu and was excited for our outing. I was ready for the Bacon Pancakes from the brunch menu, unfortunately, since it was a special occasion they weren't serving this dish! (Don't worry I had such a nice time I will be back to get them.) The service was wonderful. We arrived about 15 mins earlier than our reservation, but we were seated right away.

I tried the filet sampler recommended by the waitress, with the peppercorn, parmigiana and mushroom toppings (one one each). I really liked the peppercorn and parmigiana. My husband had the prime rib, which was slightly overcooked for a medium-rare request, but it was good. Waitress was excellent - and so was the Wildfire Chardonnay (I am not a wine connoisseur ...) We enjoyed the cookie desert, which was complimentary for our first visit. There were more children there than I expected given there was no obvious kids' menu. We started with the baked goat cheese appetizer. It was very good, plenty of dip for the toast points we received with it. The crab bisque was not great, it had a piece of shell in every one of the first few bites we had. We sent it back and asked for French Onion soup which was very good. The loaded wedge salad was great. Our table had two different types of steak and both were cooked as ordered. The creamed spinach side had too much of a clove taste for us, so we could not eat it. The filets are tasty and come with some great options of crusts and sauces. While I've never had them, the desserts look incredible and handmade (large chocolate chip cookie in a skillet, cherry pie, and other favorites). The one menu item that fell short was the barbecue (offered on Wednesdays). This was overcooked and dry. We were certainly pleased. I am a chef, so we know food and service, and Wildfire exceeded our expectations. The scallops were cooked perfectly, the crab and shrimp bisque was subtle, a very good layering of flavors without being overpowering, and my steak was cooked exactly medium - rare, just as I ordered.
