Tried a lot of steakhouses in the city, but wildfire is the only one that has impressed my boyfriend and I enough to make it a regular pick. We use to just go on holidays or special occasions but now we go if we're just craving a good meal. Wildfire is just an extremely satisfying experience overall. I go about once a month with a small group of friends. The food is amazing, I haven't had anything so far that I didn't care for, but to be fair, I always get a filet. Every side and dessert I have tried has been fantastic, particularly the double baked potato and the strawberry rhubarb pie when available.
Every single time I take that first bite of my perfectly cooked steak, I pause and savor it. A state of mild euphoria would be the most appropriate way to describe how I feel.

I came across Wildfire when searching online for affordable steakhouses. The place itself is spacious, and the decor had an old-timey feel. The menu was extensive, and we were hungry. Since it was a Monday, and wine was half-price, my colleague and I split a bottle of Malbec. For our main courses, I ordered the filet mignon and a side of au gratin potatoes and he ordered coconut shrimp with a side of mashed potatoes. When the food was first brought out, I worried it wasn't going to be enough, but it was so rich that I quickly became full. It was delicious! And we even ordered dessert. I had out of town company on Mary 24th, made reservations for 5pm, arriving10 minutes early. Gentleman at the desk kindly gave us menus to review prior to seating. Seated promptly and attended by our server immediately. She reviewed the daily specials and took our drink order. Onion and dark rye bread appeared at out table swiftly..One person had the medallions with different toppings, another the halibut and the third mushroom-encrusted pork chops.The food came and all were very pleased with our choices and sides (roasted vegetable/spinach). The atmosphere was fabulous, the smells were amazing, the food delicous and plentiful. I got a trio of tenderloin, each crusted in a different flavor. Absolutely fantastic. If I lived in Chicago, I would want to visit this restaurant frequently and when I return it will be on my list. Our server greeted us promptly and upon hearing it was our first time at Wildfire she gave a great intro and explanation of the menu. Neither my husband nor I know much when it comes to ordering a steak and she was very helpful with explaining the different cuts. I had the filet mignon and my husband had the porterhouse. Both were delicious! We finished with a shared dessert that was so decadent. We really enjoyed our experience. I have been to the Wildfire location in Oakbrook in the past, but never to the Chicago location. Both of our mothers had never been to the Wildfire establishment. They were very pleased with the food, drinks, dessert and service. My mom usually finds something to complain about, and she could not find one thing. She commented that the food was delicious, the service was great, and she ordered the Martini flight and loved her choice. Wildfire was a great choice.
