Wild OliveWe Can't Stay Away!Another stellar meal at Wild Olive! A perfect birthday evening. Carpaccio is the best in town and ricotta gnocchi homemade and delicate. The service is always excellent, friendly and accommodating. We think we want to try another restaurant and then we always return to Wild Olive because it is so consistently good and they make us feel like family.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAll aspects of our diningAll aspects of our dining experience were outstanding.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMReturn Visit As Good As The First! From the moment Aubrey, our server, greeted our party of five we knew this would be a fantastic evening. The warm olive appetizer with authentic Italian bread led into perfectly prepared entres. The braised short ribs melted in my mouth and rivaled any in Italy or France. The other entres were equally memorable. We couldn't resist the deserts and they were heavenly. The Wild Olive is a hidden gem that should not be missed when in the South Carolina low country.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and service.Excellent food and service. It got a little bit noisy, but it was a Friday night so it was to be expected.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodAnytime I've gone to Wild Olive the food has been excellent!! The atmosphere is great but it is a bit crowded and quite loud. The last time we went we had a great server!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMHad to go twiceMy wife loved this resturant so much on our trip to Charleston that we had to go twice...even though it was the only resturant that we had to drive to.
We ordered the exact same dishes and sides that we go on our first visit just two days before.
Baked Penne - very good very filling. Just spicey enough and very good red sauce. Hearty Itailian comfort food.
Chicken Parm - wife loved this dish. Hugh portion nice breading and very tender juicey chicken
Smashed Potato side - nothing better. On a table in which everything was great this was the star in a way like Michael Jordan was the star of the deam team. Everything (or everyone) was a star but this was unreal. This dish is worth the trip itself.
Potato Gnocchi great, buttery and smooth5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingWe came for a belated Mother's Day and this restaurant did not disappoint! Everything was superb, our server well-versed and the meal was unforgettable. Thanks Jacques!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSame venue, same great timeMy wife and I love this joint. Excellent food, excellent service and some of the best italian in Charleston. Only gripe about going this time was they removed the Venetian Apple Cake from the menu. I suppose sometimes they have to change things up but I was disappointed. Anyhow, both my wife and I had the calamari and risotto fritters (their two best apps I think) then we both had tasty pasta. My wife got a huge portion of the special rigatoni with rabbit ragu, and I got the agnoliti. Now, I was disappointed with my portion I must add,and they give smaller portions of pocket pasta I find which kinda sucks. I could have eaten more and I ordered the large portion. Recommend this place but don't get ravioli or any pocket pasta.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMTop notch food, great service,Top notch food, great service, and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend it.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service. The food and service were outstanding. We had a reservation at 12:15 for Mother's Day. Everything was perfect from start to finish. We will be back.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMTruely AuthenticI took my daughter and grandson for Mother's Day Brunch. The food all sounded so amazing we could not decide what to order, in true Italian form we asked if we could eat family style (some places don't let you share) We were pleased when the waitress replied " sounds like a perfect idea!" We ordered an appetizer, pastries, french toast, fritatta and the gnocchi. Everything was perfect The Tiramisu was awesome. After living in Italy for several years, this was the best Italian food by far in the Low Country. Someone wanting a quiet place to eat may want to consider another place, this place is full of life and laughter! The service was the best I have had! I would be there every week, but it's 45 min away!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day to rememberWe visited peak time on Mother's Day and all I can say is WOW! Our absolute favorite meal in Charleston. we started with the calamari which was tender and delicious. My husband had the chicken ragu special which was out of this world and I had the beef short ribs. awesome. Fresh is the word with every bite5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent , RestaurantFood was excellent , Restaurant tended to be very loud . very difficult to carry on a conversation with out joining in on the yelling5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great dinnerAttended the first wine tasting and then stayed for dinner. It was lovely, food was fantastic and service was great. A very nice dessert and chocolates for the anniversary celebration.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLove!!!Thank you so much for ALWAYS living up to my bragging suggestions/recommendations! I was so thrilled that you accommodated my request as to where we were seated. The menu is exquisite (we were dining with some very discerning Europeans) and you never missed a mark! Bravo (!!!) and thank you for bringing some laid-back Italian sophistication to this region. We will certainly be back!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMIn love again with Wild OliveOur recent dining experience at The Wild Olive did not disappoint - delicious as it always is. We had out-of-town guests and wanted to share this fabulous restaurant with them to give them a different view (as opposed to downtown) of lowcountry dining. The service was excellent, knowledgeable; the meal was definitely memorable for us as well as friends. Three of the four took advantage of the availability of the local wreckfish which was cooked to perfection! WO is one of favorites and now will be on our friends' fav list for local eateries.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMMarvelous Modern ItalianThis isn't your typical Italian restaurant although many of the standards are there with a twist. We shared a very unique, fabulous asparagus salad and when I told the waiter that I loved soft shell crabs but couldn't eat a full entree, he said they could make a small plate and give me just one. It was terrific. We will definitely go back.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA bit of a drive but worthA bit of a drive but worth every mile. Lovely setting on Johns Island, South Carolina. A must on your to do list. Homemade Lemon Cello is wonderful...a nice after dinner treat.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMalways goodI thoroughly enjoy Wild Olive - and I'm a frequent diner there.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWild oliveThis was the second time at Wild Olive. This time we ordered calamari as we had it before and thought it was a "keeper". It did not disappoint. It was tender, fried lightly And wonderful to the taste buds. The entrees were equally great. I had their version of shrimp and grits. I was just great. A decent sized portion, tender shrimp and two polenta cakes that did not smother the shrimp. My husband had sea bass which was over a bed of shrimp and cape beans. His dish was excellent. I was impressed with the creativity and the preparation. Definitely can't wait to go again. The drinks were not spectacular just wines. Loved it.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMItalian fun for everyone!Great place for family and friends to eat, drink and laugh. Accoustics ramp up the noise, but an Italian restuarant should be lively. Food is excellent which choices for everyone.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMvery nice findVery cute house and friendly service. Server came back to pour wine on many occassions. Food flavors very tasty. I would definetly go back5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOver the riverWild Olive is always exceptional characterized by warm service and ambience. Other than parking sometimes being a challenge, this restaurant is worth the drive from downtown.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful service and amazing food! When my parents were in town, they took me and my husband to Wild Olive to celebrate my birthday. I had been before and loved it, but this was their first time. We have to put extra thought into where we dine because my mother has Alzheimer's diseases and there are many things to take into consideration before we choose a restaurant. Wild Olive gave us exceptional food & service in an atmosphere that was upscale, but not stuffy. Our server, Derek, was great. Knowledgeable about the food and patient with my mother (and the rest of us too, since we aren't exactly foodies). Their bread is too die for!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for ItalianI enjoy Wild Olive, particularly because it is not a place that a lot of people (used to) know about it. It has since gotten quite popular, which just means that reservations are highly recommended. We had an 8:30 reservation, arrived early to get a drink at the bar and we were seated by 8:00. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and offered several specials. The food, as always, was well-prepared, fresh and tasted great. If you are a fan of beets and goat cheese, I highly recommended the beet ravioli. Delicious! Just a few down-sides: our entrees came out before we were finished with our appetizers and the tables were very close together. Other than that, definitely a place to go that is not Downtown for good food.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBest food & service in CharlestonBest pasta we've had since moving from Sicily! Ambience, quality of food, service - can't say enough about Wild Olive - You just have to experience it for yourself. Affordable - don't wait for a special ocassion!!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Charleston Area RestaurantWe dined at "Wild Olive" on 5/2/13 and had a wonderful experience. The food and service were exceptional. All at a fair price.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it again! My new favorite on the island. Great food, wine and wonderful , caring staff ,5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Olive Never Disappoints!Delicious Northern Italian inspired cuisine served by well-trained, friendly staff in a modern rustic dining atmosphere. The menu changes frequently, and I always find it difficult to choose what to eat--everything on the menu is appealing. House made pastas, rich, flavorful sauces, local fish and meat--Chef Jacques certainly is talented and clearly passes his love of food preparation into the food itself. On my most recent sojourn, I had the chicken agnolotti in a rich chicken stock/butter/chive sauce. The pasta was as light as air, and the chicken filling moist and flavorful. My husband's pappardelle with guanciale and arugula was also fantastic. Can't wait to return!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMdate nightWe had a great time, great food and excellent service.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome! They do Italian food right! My girlfriend and I went there for our 6th month anniversary and had the best time! They always have good bottles of wine for $19 and their food is very reasonably priced for such a nice establishment. I don't think they hire bad servers either! This was my second time there and both times the service staff was great. Hooray for Wild Olive!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMMy friend was visiting fromMy friend was visiting from New York and I wanted to take her someplace special. I had been to Wild Olive once before, and remembered it was very good. The experience I had with my friend tonight was wonderful. The food was an exceptional pasta dish (a special)that was so delicious we were barely speaking because we wanted to concentrate on the richness and flavor of the dish. Thank you Wild Olive, and we'll be back!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a very nice experienceWe had a very nice experience with excellent food and a fantastic server! It's somewhat loud, but we could easily talk to each other nonetheless. Highly recommend the strawberry almond bowl for dessert!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful placeThe Wild Olive never disappoints us. The service was great and the food was thoroughly enjoyed by all in the party. In our top three for restaurants in Charleston for special occasions4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMA celebration for my birthdayA celebration for my birthday with a dear friend. The wait person, Stacy, made excellent suggestions. Our food was delish -- the wine complemented nicely. The Tiramisu ended the happy event with style! My first visit and I will return.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Find on John's IslandWe had a quiet table on the porch and enjoyed a lovely meal. We had the "Spelli Telefono" for an appetizer (risotto balls with sausage, spinach and mozzarella cheese, fried). We ate there on a Tuesday, when they have the special $19/bottle wine list, which was great. Our main course was tasty, unique and really filling (scallops). We loved the whole experience!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been on vacation inWe've been on vacation in the area twice in the last 9 months and have been here both times. As good as any meal we've had in Boston's North End. Wonderful, real Italian cuisine. Reasonably priced, too.
Always packed, even during the week, so locals must know.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI just love the Wild OliveI just love the Wild Olive and we've been there many time! This time we had the calamari and an appetizer special. Both were outstanding. I ordered the squid ink pasta with shrimp. It was the only dish I've ever had there that wasn't perfect- it was very oily. My husband ordered the lamb sausage and goat cheese lasagna which is the best lasagna we've ever had (sorry, mom). All the other dishes were great- just watch out for the oily pasta- and you must have the almond cake dessert. YUM! Our server was very knowledgeable about menu details and paid close attention to our needs. Overall, a top choice in Charleston dining.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMCookbook LadyWhat a unique place to dine, away from the hustle and traffic of the historic district. driving to Johns Island you can feel your body unwinding. wild Olive and their staff set the tone for a magical evening. there's a great vibe and the staff is so professional, ready with helpful suggestions for tasty dishes and good wines. the halibut was cooked to perfection, atop a mixture of fresh vegetables.
