Diner Reviews
  • "The food is 100% delicious. It's so nice to have a 1/2 plate option, too. The wine list is wonderful -- and affordable ! The Italian Mojito is to die for :-) The service is outstanding. We love Wild Olive .... dined there twice and looking forward to returning again and again ! Amazing. Really. Try it. You'll see."

  • "The service here was outstanding. The bartender was adept and knew how to make the perfect French 75 and our table was ready quickly. The table service was also wonderful. Our waitress was funny and knowledgable and made great recommendations. The food was delicious."

  • "This restaurant is a hidden gem in Johns Island. It has fabulous food and a long beer and wine list! The service was great and the ambiance was rustic and very pleasant. We have eaten in most of the well known restaurants in Charleston and are very excited to have found a new place to dine. We will definitely return and will certainly spread the word."

  • "I absolutely can not rave enough about wild olive. From the service to the amazing food, I love everything about this place. I have eaten here dozens of times and have yet to have anything other than a fantastic experience, which is very difficult to say about most restaurants. Their specials are always delicious. The service is always attentive but never over bearing."

  • "We had 2 excellent meals (*****). Our last diner had the Cioppino and definitely was not my favorite. Lacked taste and spice."

  • "This is a wonderful casual place to go for dinner. We went while visiting Charleston and the food was outstanding! Our party consisted of 4 people and everyone loved their meal."

  • "This is a great spot. Food is always good. Lasagna us the best. It's pretty noisy, so if you are looking for quiet, find somewhere else."

  • "We love Wild Olive and the staff there, especially Jason, who is the manager and always makes us feel very special and welcome. He is someone who truly embodies one who has found his passion in a career choice and strives to make your dining experience enjoyable. The staff is always friendly and we find the menu to include Italian favorites with a creative twist, seafood and meats mostly prepared excellently. Our only criticism is that some of the entrees seem a bit overpriced, but others aren't, and the Italian dishes may be ordered in half and full portions. Delicious appetizers and salads! The atmosphere is cottage cozy but modern and attractive, bustling at times, and convivial. We look forward to returning again and again."

  • "Excellent food, atmosphere and waitress. Our party of four all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and we all plan on returning. We all llked that you could order a carafe of house wine for $25 and it was pretty good."

  • "We dined on a Monday evening with a 7:30 pm reservation. Always need reservation. Food wonderful . Appreciate the half order pasta dishes. Can be a little noisy...suggest sun room for quiet atmosphere. Great wine list. Bread served at table could be fresher tasting....tends to be dry. Dessert menu needs a decadent chocolate item...warm chocolate lava cake with ice cream!"

  • "After nearly a week of Low Country cuisine, we needed a break. The Italian food at a Wild Olive was great. I had a grilled octopus appetizer which, to me, is a benchmark. It was very tender and flavorful. From the pastas to the veal scallopine, we all enjoyed our meals. And a special wine lust with $19 bottles was an added plus! We trusted our waiter on that and had a really tasty wine. Lovely room and excellent service. It was hopping on a Monday night. We'd go back in a heartbeat."

  • "My husband and I moved to Johns Island in 2013 and FINALLY visited the Wild Olive. It was FABULOUS!! Fantastic drink specials (strawberry basil mojito was off the chart), awesome waitress (Mel) and delicious food (Scallops). Will definitely visit again."

  • "The only complaint anyone in my party of four had, was that the dining room was extremely loud. It must have been peaked seating time for the evening, and it was a Saturday night. With that aside, that food was outstanding, beyond expectation! The service was friendly and attentive, without being overbearing."

  • "Took over an hour to get food once ordered; waiter or mgt. staff never approached our table to apologize before or after our experience. Not likely to recommend or return."

  • "Real Italian atmosphere--a bit noisy but a lovely experience over all"

  • "This was one of the best meals I have had on vacation. My wife and I love this restaurant. Wonderful menu, well trained waiting staff with full knowledge of the menu and wines, great creativity by the chef all make this a very special dining experience. The restaurant itself has a nice decor with a very relaxed atmosphere. Only thing negative was, it is easy to drive right by because it blends into the neighborhood surroundings off a fairly busy two lane road. Well worth the effort."

  • "Our meals (2 of us) were excellent. I recommend the Agnolotti which was superb. We happened by chance to go on a Tuesday evening when they have bottles of wine for $19.00. We had the Cortese - a white Italian table wine similar to Sauvignon Blanc, which complimented our entrees quite well. The affogatto for desert was also superb. The server was friendly and helpful and the noise level was very tolerable even though every table was in use."

  • "Food and service were excellent! Specialties are Italian dishes served with local produce. I have been to Wild Olive many times and have never had a bad experience. In my view this is the best Italian restaurant in Charleston area."

  • "The food was amazing! They do half portion servings on some dishes so you can try different things. The service was great as well, very friendly."

  • " Great table, great food. They had a special on bottles of wine for $19. They were excellent choices - not just unknown house wines. Excellent service as well."

  • "Excellent Food! Good service is when a competent wait person takes care to do a job well. Great service is when the ENTIRE staff works together to make sure ALL tables are well cared for. Wild Olive has great service. Food came out VERY quickly. My wife's favorite Italian dish is veal scallopini. She said W.O. served her the best she ever had! The place was very clean Kitchen flowed very efficiently and the part I could see was spotless. I had a corner booth with a slight view into that area. Great Wine list. Don't pass this place up, as I did the previous year driving past it many times going into Charleston from Seabrook Island. The best thing I can say is I NEVER take the time to write reviews!!!!"

  • "We dine @ Wild Olive whenever we are in Charleston area and always enjoy ourselves. This visit was no exception. We shared appetizers or calamari, clams & suppli de telefono and just couldn't decide what we loved most! 2 in out party ordered specials, one fish and one lamb chop and they were both great. Food is fresh, flavorful and beautifully prepared. We were sorry we didn't leave for dessert. Service is excellent. Servers are always friendly and knowledgable. We will return."

  • "Our server was very pleasant and seemed knowledgeable about the menu and gluten free options. The food was delicious, particularly the shrimp. My daughter couldn't eat the brussel sprouts or potatoes (which were amazing) but she loved the mashed potatoes and gluten free pasta."

  • "Attentive service and outstanding food! Not for young children who are picky eaters. Will definitely return!"

  • "Perfect except we were there for a visit with family and could hardly hear each other. We were seated by a loud toddler and another young child. Would be better if they were seated in a child friendly section and others were in a more adult friendly environment."

  • "Food is absolutely delicious. Authentic Italian. Enjoyed the options of small plates vs entree size. The Chocolate-pistachio dessert is to-die-for. The wait staff is very helpful and knowledgeable and has good "timing" throughout dinner--to allow you to enjoy this meal in a leisurely Italian way....We were stunned that we had been inside for 2 1/2 hours as we walked out! We are long-time residents and eat out in the Charleston restaurant scene often. This is really one of our FAVORITE local restaurants."

  • "My husband and I LOVE Wild Olive. We are frequent guests. Why? The food is superb, using fresh local ingredients plucked from farms just beyond The chef is inventive and the dishes are elegantly prepared. But wait, the food is so good you want to "sop" up the juices with the bread! The ambience is so inviting.. The decor fun, beautiful and cozy! We had Kim as our waiter and she was so knowledgable, efficient, kind and so much fun! We even got to know our dining neighbors. The little drive out to the restaurant takes you over beautiful marshes and waterways, not to mention towering oaks and draped moss. This is a major thumbs up for the Charleston area dining scene! We are so lucky!"

  • "This is authentic Italian (not the American Italian like Spaghetti and meatballs) and it is awesome! Wild Olive has just taken the place of Al Di La for my favorite Charleston Italian Restaurant!"

  • "After a round of golf that ended quicker than most we arrived at the crowded restaurant an hour early but no problem we sat at the bar and had a fabulous dinner. Chris the bartender was so helpful and knowledgable I can't think of seating at a table again. Thanks for a great night."

  • "My wife and I dined there last Wednesday around 5:45. Food was delicious! She had scallops, I had the swordfish, yum. We have decided to plan a night a month for dinning at W.O. We live just 7 miles away."
