A word from Wild Ginger Seattle
The food at Wild Ginger spans the Pacific Rim from China to Indonesia. We pride ourselves on offering traditional dishes from these distinctive regions and insist on house-made ingredients. Chefs make spicy chili sambals, fresh coconut milk, delicate egg noodles, and our pungent oyster sauce all from scratch. To achieve the sublime flavors of the East, there is no substitute for the time-honored customs of these rich and ancient cultures.

Diner Reviews
  • "This may be our new favorite restaurant in a crowded foodie scene. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The menu selections are varied and enticing, and made us want to return with a crowd to sample everything. The room was crowded, but we loved the layout which allowed for easy speaking and not overhearing other conversations - I wish other restaurants would learn that the heavy buzz is not conducive to fine dining. If dining in the summer, try a Riesling - who knew the wine could have such depth and flavor. Thanks Wild Ginger for a memorable dining experience - we'll be back!"

  • "First time in many years returning to Wild Ginger. It was as good as ever. One of my favorite restaurants."

  • "My wife and I really enjoyed our experience at this restaurant from quickly being sat upon arrival to the unexpected outstanding attentive wait staff. The staff was very savvy about their menu and corresponding beverage menu. Our dining preference of small plates and appetizers was paired well with other main entrées as suggested by the staff. We throughly enjoyed our experience and would recommend having a meal here while in Seattle."

  • "Food is fabulous, so many different flavours and yet still light. The wine selection is amazing. Thank you!"

  • "Nothing worth coming back for. Dirty menus, long wait even with an 8pm reserve on Sunday evening. Most food served under-heated/cold. Nothing was even good. What a shame....thought this Ming fellow would bring some finesse! Waste of a night in Seattle."

  • "It was very busy when we arrived but staff took the time to ask how everyone's day has been going."

  • "Fresh ingredients and amazing flavors. I've been coming here for 20 years and they never disappoint."

  • "We dined here on a couple of recommendations,as well as, reviews. 2 out of entrees were pedestrian. Bland and over cooked noodles being the major complaint. The other entrees, one being excellent was the BBQ Shrimp. Ambience is high ceilings, loud and plain. Nothing cozy about the lay out. Lots of families. No art to be seen. Service, however, was excellent though it didn't make for the rest. Too many other great restaurants to dine at to bother returning to this one."

  • "Abigail = incredible! Very attentive but not over the top. Timing impeccable. Incredibly helpful with selections. Didn't oversell, we left happy, full, not stuffed. Wonderful representative of restaurant. 5 stats for the restaurant. 10 stars for service. We will be back."

  • "This was the first time I have been here, the food was good, the duck was my favorite dish. We also tried the sweet potato/squash soup, Thai chicken satay, Mongolian noodles, lamb curry and many non-alcoholic drinks. The restaurant had a lot of energy and happiness in it however; it was an expensive nice restaurant. Their dishes are unique though, if we got water instead of the drink we would have saved around $20. Therefore, I would go for special occasions (it was my mom's birthday). The waiter was very helpful and easy going."

  • "Loved this restaurant last time (at least 10 years ago) but this experience was not satisfactory. Had dinner reservations, entered restaurant hostess barely greeted us. Girl took us to table not friendly or helpful. We tried to strike up conversation to get her to smile - wasn't going to happen. The menu not so inspiring as I remember. Now it makes sense when Seattle natives weren't overly excited when we said we had Wild Ginger reservations and they politely suggested other restaurants. Unfortunately a let down and I won't be going back when in town or recommend. Customer service can make or break your experience no matter how good the food is."

  • "This place is too big and looks like a dining hall. Too sterile."

  • "Wild Ginger is one of my favorite restaurants, usually. I am vegan, so I love being able to go there with friends and have options for myself and everyone. My experience on 6/21/14 was atypical and I just hope it is not indicative of a drop in the service and food quality overall. First, that evening the service was extremely slow. We were seated immediately at the time of our reservation, but then waited and inordinate amount of time before being attended to by a waiter. When the food came, one of my dining companions (who has been there before), described her dish, the pad Thai, as bland and with three small pieces of chicken. My vegan dish had ONE small piece of tofu and also was less flavorful than I have had previously."

  • "A most understanding Amelia was our server helped us graciously with the menu and assisted with gluten free options even when not so identified. A great dining experience for us rural out of towners. Haven't heard yet from restaurant about something left in the booth..."

  • "Ate here ten years ago, and the food is still excellent though the facility looks a bit tired. Cocktails were good, if not memorable, but the food was well-prepared and innovative without being flashy. Our server gave excellent guidance on how much to order, which was a big help."

  • "We live in the West Sound and don't get to the city often. We had friends from Texas visit and we wanted to treat them to something different. Every dish we had was excellent. The staff was knowledgeable and efficient. It was a great dining experience. We've been there before and it seems to have maintained its high standards."

  • "I had walked by the restaurant and looked into the dining area and I thought it was decorated beautifully and inviting. Finally went to dinner with a friend there and it met my expectations. The dining area was furnished beautifully, open, airy, and pleasant. Food was great and the drinks fantastic. Will return soon."

  • "We had dinner prior to attending "Porgy and Bess" at the 5th Ave theatre. Our food was great, our waiter busy but attentive and the parking next door is reasonable for downtown Seattle at $9.00 for the evening. Wild Ginger is in the heart of downtown and we were able to easily walk to the 5th Ave Theatre. You can't go wrong with Wild Ginger. It's upscale but not fancy, lots of families, moderate noise and their seating isn't plush but is comfortable enough. We seem to return again and again. Reservations are a must at the dinner hours and can easily be made at Open Table."

  • "Before the Saturday night Seattle Symphony concert, our friends met my husband and me for dinner at Wild Ginger. Reservation is a must. Food is still well-prepared including long-standing favorites: Hanoi Tina and black pepper scallops. Service is professional and attentive. Happy that the quality endures. No disappointments here, though price is a splurge."

  • "We've been to Wild Ginger several times before, but the food this time was not up to par. Definite lack of seasoning and consistency. The service at Wild Ginger is normally slow, however this time was excruciatingly slow. The waiter seemed not to notice and would disappear for long periods of time. Our first glass of wine was not delivered until we had nearly finished our appetizer. Again, our waiter didn't seem to notice and was distracted. Dessert was another 15 or 20 minutes. Bottom line is the wait staff needs to step up their game because the food is not good enough to makeup for poor service."

  • "The wine selection was excellent, the service was good, but our waiter was very unknowledgeable. I wouldn't be surprised if this was his first week on the job. The atmosphere was excellent as well! The food however, wasn't that good. I must say that each item within a dish was cooked to perfection, but the flavors weren't blended together at all. The spices seemed mostly absent. The result was a dish that tasted bland, despite the fact that each individual ingredient was actually cooked to perfection. I've had considerably better Asian food at considerably cheaper prices, so I won't be coming back."

  • "Wild Ginger is my favorite place to dine before attending shows at the 5th Avenue Theater or at Benaroya Hall. For several reasons. !. the ginger martinis; 2. the refreshing tasty and healthy choices of food that does not leave me feeling stuffed while sitting at the show; 3. It's very well done Southeast Asian cuisine. Only one complaint, the menu is pretty consistent, not a lot of variation in salads and soups"

  • "We brought out of town friends and talked up the excellent experiences we have had here since the days on Western Avenue. But size and ambition has seriously diminished the Wild Ginger experience. Jam-packed with extremely loud patrons in the hundreds. Literally could not carry on a conversation. Food tasted like it had been rushed through the kitchen and down the serving counter. Green beans tepid and under seasoned. Other dishes edible but hardly distinguishable from chain food. Table service was pleasant, but management is far too complacent in allowing this deterioration in the quality of the restaurant and the brand."

  • "There was just something missing in the food. Service was great as always but the Cambodian style salmon and some of the satays were just lacking that 'ooow this is good' factor and were kinda blah."

  • "The food was incredible. Everything was perfect and our server helped us choose some of her favorites. The reserve wine list is impressive and the sommelier helped us pick a fabulous wine. Most impressive was that the server noticed that I was removing cilantro from a dish (I know - but I'm one of those people to whom it tastes like soap) and went directly to the kitchen to have the chef make one without cilantro so that I could enjoy it. She also took the time to write down a bunch of recommendations for restaurants and activities in the city during our visit. All of which have been great. Suffice to say - one of the best dining experiences I've had."
