The food at Whitney's was good (all 5 people in my party enjoyed their meals) but the service was very slow. Since the restaurant was not crowded, this was surprising. I'd skip dessert next time, as it was only okay.

Whitney's was perfect. I was looking for an elegant setting for an intimate celebration and Whitney's fit the Bill. We virtually had the entire restaurant to ourselves for 3 hours. Beautiful table settings. The staff was superb. Whitney's accommodated my needs. The restaurant allowed me to store a full sheet cake in their cooler the night before. I was totally pleased with their service. Food is reasonably priced for a budget. Young can't get that in many places these days. I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND WHITNEY'S!!!

  • Mother's Day Brunch

    Dined on 5/11/2014
I attended the brunch buffet for Mother's Day with my ma and all my siblings. We were seated in a private dining room, which was nice to have the place to ourselves, but we were quite a long way from the buffet. Also, our seclusion meant that we didn't get a great deal of attention from the server when it came to drinks. The food was your standard breakfast fair - eggs, biscuits, gravy, breakfast meats, French toast, fruit - all of it good quality. They also had a small carving station and omelets made to order. My largest complaint was that once a food station in the buffet had been emptied, it took quite a while to replenish. All and all it was what you'd expect from a standard brunch buffet. It was good, but nothing special.

Their buffet was 26 dollars a person and did not include pancakes which is the only thing I really wanted. The line for the omelet station was a half hour long with only one person working. The eggs were gross, the bacon was soggy as was the French toast. They did give me pancakes upon request, however they were like hockey pucks. The waiter had no idea what the word gluten free meant. My husband is gluten free for health reasons. Overall I was unimpressed. It was way overpriced to have food that bad. The coffee was good and they kept it coming and they take reservations so that is probably the only reason I would go back. Most places don't take reservations and it would have been a long wait on mothers day for a party of 8 with infants.

  • Easter Brunch 2014
    Disapointed
    Dined on 4/20/2014
I had been to Whitneys for brunch on several occassions & thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately the Easter Brunch was a real disapointment. According to the menu published on the website, there was a large variety of dishes available. We found that not to be true. There was no advertised "Seafood Station", No "Cheese Display", no "Cold Salads" , no "Cupcakes Station", no "Children's Area", & no "Chocolate Fountain or Sweet Table ! The Chef Carving station was only serving ham - no leg of lamb, roast beef in sight. Other missing items were the sausage gravy and biscuits, roasted garlic smashed potatoes, green beans, chicken alfredo, and saffron rice, peas and red peppers. Having the carving & omelet station manned by 1 person (slow)

We were told there would be lamb, there wasn't. We were, also, told there would be a breakfast AND lunch buffet with "holiday" favorites added, there wasn't. The "buffet" was very watered down! We were very disappointed! In addition, someone vacuumed under our chairs while we were eating...eww!!!

We arrived at the Hilton for Easter brunch. The hostess staff was extremely rude. Our reservation was pushed back two hours the day before and payment in full had to be paid before being seated. Four adults for brunch was about $210. The food stations did not label the items which is unusual. We saw our server twice for 18% gratuity. Really? The food was average. I felt like I was in a college cafeteria. Would not go back for brunch. A burger for an afternoon lunch is about all I would do again. Staff needs lots of work and pricing is 5 stars, but the experience is 2 stars.

Used to frequent Whitneys Sunday brunch quite a bit before moving to suburbs. Not as many selections as they use to have but, food was very good and plenty of it. Fresh bacon, waffles, pancakesfruit, etc. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful and kept the fresh-squeezed orange juice coming. The custom made omelets were also very good. All twelve in our party enjoyed the experience. I will be back.

I have been to Whitney's many times in the past for their fabulous Sunday brunches. This time I had planned to have brunch on a Saturday with my sister, sister-in-law, niece and my two adult daughters. The food was very good, as always. What impressed me the most, was how accommodating the waitress was. We were disappointed to learn that the restaurant no longer had a Saturday Buffet Brunch (even though it was listed on their website) and stop serving breakfast at the time we were there. The waitress could see how disappointed we were, so she asked the chef if he/she were willing to whip up some breakfast for us. The chef agreed to do it. Very few places would do that! Definitely would come back again! We had a wonderful time.

I have eaten at Whitney's in the past and thought it was ok. This last time I was very pleased at the improvement in the quality of the food. My sea bass was done perfectly. The wine selections were a nice mix of affordable choices and "special occasion" wines. I am looking forward to my next dining experience at Whitney's.

this restaurant is located in the Hilton hotel in Oak Lawn. On the day we visited, Labor Day, there were only two tables in the place. I expect it is busier at other times, but it was kind of weird to be there practically alone. The waitress was friendly but inexperienced (our chardonnay was served nearly room temperature--that is dining room, not cellar), and the food was find. There are not many options to choose from in the area, so I would likely recommend this place to someone looking for a place to go out in that part of the metropolitan area. The menu was interesting, and the food was well-prepared.

Restaurant only offers a buffet on Sundays. When I arrived the food was picked over and some of it was cold. I was very disappointed in the quality and choice of food. The cost of the buffet was @ $25.00 pp and was definitely not worth it. Buffet staff talked among themselves and it was difficult to find a server to get coffee. I would not visit this restaurant, especially on Sunday, again.

First, my open table reservation wasn't there so I didn't have the desired time. I called when I was on my way and then was told that I could still get the time I asked. When I arrived it was 30 minutes later so we sat in the bar for some time. After we got to our table our waitress had us waiting way too long for little things such as water and bread. We had the filet mignon and from my knowledge an expensive piece of meat like that isn't and 1/8" thick. Felt like I was eating cheap steak. After it was done the service was so bad they didn't charge us for our meal.
