business meetingInvited two people for a business meeting. They enjoyed the food and we were able to talk and conduct business without the challenge of a loud environment. I have taken many people here as it is one of my favorite restaurants, and everyone has loved it and they often return on their own. I never worry if people will enjoy it. It's not a risk. The food is fresh and delicious in a lovely, quaint environment! Parking is easy too!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWhite Shallot reviewIt has both French and Vietnamese cuisine. We had the same filet-of-beef entrée, and it was delicious. My wife ordered one of the Vietnamese soups, and it was very unusual and very good.
- On our reservation, we told them it was our wedding anniversary. They did not acknowledge that or do anything about it. We even mentioned it to our waiter-- with the same indifference.
- We told them when we arrived that we had an Open Table reservation. They just shrugged shoulders, and did not seem to care.
- My wife substituted bread for potatoes on her entrée, and we were charged a substitution fee. We were not told in advance, and this is ridiculous anyway.
- The drinks (Vietnamese iced tea, glass of Pinot Noir) were disappointing.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food at reasonable pricesReally enjoy this restaurant with it's combination of French and Vietnamese dishes6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food for reasonableGreat food for reasonable prices! Nice mix with the French and Vietnamese.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMgood food...Food was great... Duck for me and shaking beef for the wife. Mothers Day and they seemed a little short-staffed. They were nice, just a bit overwhelmed. Would go again when restaurant is less full.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMNeighborhood GemThis is the perfect restaurant for my wife and I; she likes Vietnamese food and I love French food! I started with the escargot and it was one of the very best that I've had. The snails were tender and the herbed butter was very tasty. My wife who doesn't like "weird" foods did try it and she liked it. My wife had the vermicelli with steak and shrimp. The flavors were wonderful. I had the lamb tenderloin stuffed with proscutto, spinach and pine nuts. It was done perfectly. Overall, I would give White Shallot a thumbs up and we will be back again to try some of the menu items.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden gem near Santana RowGreat menu. The appetizers were awesome. Entrees looked great. We just decided to get 5 appetizers with a bottle of wine. Next time will try they're entrees. A must go. Went during week and not to busy. Ambience was nice and quiet. Menu changes depending on season but I'm sure it's always excellent. Can't wait to go back.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat find! One of my very favorite restaurants! I love the lunch menu pork chops! Their specials are always good! My friend and others I have taken LOVE the crepes! You can hear yourself in a conversation. Fresh, delicious food in a clean. quiet, attractive environment.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMNeighborhood Gemvery friendly server, delicious food. Not a fusion restaurant - the menu splits French and Vietnamese options evenly.2/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous Food - Great Value! This is probably the best buy in San Jose, if you are looking for beautifully prepared, Thai and French food. Some French Restaurants could stand a lesson from the chef here. And the prices simply do not reflect the value! It's our new dine out place where we can always expect great service, great food and not too great a hit on our budget!2/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
