Diner Reviews
  • "Ceilings very high. Noise level on a mid-week night so high we had to SCREAM to be heard, and we were a party of only three. Food was delicious but ask for a corner table if you want to talk. Which for us was the point of going out to dinner!"

  • "Our waiter Matt of table 80 was great. He was thoroughly knowledgeable of the menu and gave us good recommendations on what to eat for our first dining experience."

  • "interesting menu, great variety in the choices, great presentation, attentive service. every dish was excellent and the whole evening was fantastic. this was our second time, the first was on Valentines following a snow storm and they were on top of their game that night, too. we definitely will return."

  • "I was at the Hyatt and and noticed this place across the street... the food was good, but nothing incredible, not enough to bring me ITP from Marietta just to eat here, without another reason to be in town. They are very proud of their menu, their farm to table concept, etc. The server was a little too informative for our taste (she went on and on just over the drink menu) - but an informed staff is good - tempering that should be easy. As the night went on the service substantially deteriorated to the point that we sat with dessert menus for 15 minutes without any attention... eventually we asked to speak to the manager who was very apologetic and quickly took our order - and made a small discount to the bill to make up for the problems."

  • "Great experience. A must if staying downtown Atlanta!"

  • "Sat with a big table, 14 or so, we were handed the regular menus then 15 minutes later these were swapped out for a very limited menu, no explanation but I assume because the kitchen was buried. Service was unbelievably slow. Took an hour to get first course. Waiters very confused about who got what. No explanation, no "sorrys", nothing. Amateur in every respect."

  • "The proprietor paid attention to detail in all aspects of the restaurant. The wait staff is attentive and stealth in their service. The menu is exceptional and often updated - the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese are divine. The new shrimp beignets are fantastic. The braised shorts ribs and shank give new meaning to tender! Enjoy all with a specialty cocktail. The décor is organic with reclaimed oak plank walls. The restaurant's abundant natural daylight is transformed at night when the custom stacked silver maple chandeliers are illuminated along with wall sconces made of tapestry stretched on giant needle point loops. White Oak is always top on my list when dining with my husband, friends, or celebrating a special occasion."

  • "World's most pleasant hosts and the owner also made every course a great memory."

  • "Ever since The Food Studio closed, I've been looking for a new Atlanta favorite. I found it. The ambience and decor got me as soon as I arrived. I love the farmhouse feel. The servers are friendly, with plain shirts, jeans, and long aprons. The chatucerie was great, and my scallops were delicious. I have never tasted collard greens as good as these! Sweet potations were fab. Can't beat the pecan bourbon ice cream. Our server Derrick was friendly, personable, and helpful. He gets a shout-out. I'll be back next time I'm in Atlanta."

  • "Living in Atlanta, I never go downtown. Was there for a convention and happy to find this place. Charming and good food. Not busy on a Friday night but hopefully does well during the business week."
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "I loved the food and service was prompt, which I also like. The menu is unique and food delicious. My only recommendation is to add a few more traditional dessert options."

  • "What a great experience. The food is delicious and the restaurant is gorgeous. Service was great too. Since it's a downtown restaurant, it's not as crowded as some other atl restaurants!"

  • "Really enjoyed my first visit. Got there before the dinner rush really set in. Service was great and food was excellent. We are considering White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails for our next large group outing. We saw a few rooms for large groups which would be perfect!"

  • "Wow this place was delicious and not expected. Service was great at both the bar and restaurant. The food was absolutely wonderful. So much flavor. I had the She Crab soup and beet salad - both were wonderful. I would definitely come back on my next visit to Atlanta."

  • "I found it interesting that locals were not familiar with this restaurant. It was quite enjoyable and service was impeccable."
    Dined on 3/5/2014
  • "The best thing about the meal was the appetizers. Otherwise the rest of the meal was very sub-par. The entrée was very bland and the portion sizes were very disappointing. Made me want to go eat another meal afterwards. Don't come if your hungry."
    Dined on 3/5/2014
  • "Service was super slow. Went for a workday lunch and would heavily advise AGAINST that if you need something under 1.5 hours. Food was decent but nothing to write home about. We had fried chicken, chicken and egg salad sandwich, oyster salad and shecrab soup. Might be nice for post work cocktails."
    Dined on 3/5/2014
  • "The food would have received 5 stars if the entrées where as good as the first two courses which were outstanding. Good service and extensive bourbon list."
    Dined on 3/4/2014
  • "Took out of town business guest - was perfect experience in every way. Very knowledgeable friendly server - great variety of options that you can't find elsewhere including, but not limited to, outstanding (5 page) drink menu. Excellent option for within walking distance of hotels."

  • "Great food and excellent service. Huge portions didn't leave room for desert."
    Dined on 2/25/2014
  • "The food was great. The people were great. The selection of cocktails was unbelievable. The prices were very reasonable for what you got. Local craft beer, modern southern food, just great. I had the pimento cheese and fried green tomato appetizer that was great. And the monkfish served with brown butter sweet potato puree and pickled okra. For dessert I had the carrot cake. All good."

  • "The food was very good, but what was most impressive was the great service we received. Our waiter was prompt, attentive and very friendly. We even had a nice conversation with the general manager, who treated us to free dessert!"

  • "We were in Atlanta to visit our son and went to this terrific restaurant for dinner. The owner greeted us and checked in with us a few times during the evening to insure our experience was memorable. The food, service and ambience were excellent. It was a great evening."

  • "Everything was delicious, from the homemade apple butter on the fresh bread to the succulent short rib. And the drinks were even better. I had the best whiskey sour ever! My husband and I enjoyed our lovely meal and then had a night cap at the bar. Great service, great food, & great drinks = great night out."

  • "Service was so friendly and food was very good. Only negative is that for the price the servings are very small. I ordered a $27 plate and my serving size was literally the size of a tapa. If you like normal portions especially for the price I would not recommend."

  • "We had a lovely time at this restaurant. It has an interesting cocktail menu; decent wine list and eclectic menu. Our stuffed quail appetizer was very nice, but, would have been better if warm. My chicken pot pie was unique and delicious. My wife's trout was prepared correctly, but, the flavor was flat. However, the collard greens, served as a side, were excellent."

  • "food was just great, pork shank was the best i have had anywhere."

  • "Had a wonderful Valentine's Day at White Oak Kitchen and it was our first time there. Aron, the manager, and our server, Yancey, were extraordinary! The food was amazing as well as the specialty drinks. This is our new favorite restaurant and we highly recommend it. Ask for Yancey to be your server!"

  • "Beautiful setting, fun cocktail menu, extensive winelist, solid food menu. Ordering the courses was complicated and you had to okay what you wanted to get with the restaurant before they could actually confirm your order. Since only I wanted a salad and not my fiancee, it had to come out with the appetizer because of the "coursing". At least that's what our server told us. The food is delectable, but not an outstanding value considering you get so little for what you pay. Also, the server was short with us when I asked for change because I wasn't prepared to leave a 35% tip, just a 20% tip. It was a good experience with good food, but I wouldn't go back because there are so many other amazing restaurants to try in Atlanta."

  • "The food was fantastic and the service good but considering it was V-day it left a little to be desired. Took a little long for our waiter to take and deliver our drink order. Also, our entree showed up before my dates salad arrived. Definitely go with the pimento cheese fried green tomatoes for your appetizer. The short rib and scallops were AMAZING and I suggest both for the entree. We will return and overall had a really good experience."

  • "The food here is very good. Personally trying the fried green tomatoes, short rib, monkfish and various beers, I would recommend the food to anyone. However, the tables are not seperated very far apart. I felt like I was sitting with my neighbors. The service was good as well but the servers could barely squeeze in between the tables. At the end of the day, I would probably go back again."

  • "updated southern cooking without getting too weird. They had the best fried chicken I have ever eaten and their green tomatoes with pimiento cheeses was a home run The room is pretty, the service was good and I will be back whenever I am in Atlanta"

  • "A well located location for downtown dining. The chicken was very good while the short ribs were quite average. The drink selection was very diverse. The service was non intrusive but on point."

  • "Had lunch on Tuesday. Pimento cheese appetizer how almost no pimento cheese. Pork shoulder was "over" sold by the waiter and underwhelmed."

  • "We were seated in booth that helped keep the noise down so conversation was easy to hear - just as I had requested in my reservation. Service was very good, our waiter was very knowledgeable about all the entrees. Menu had a nice mix and was somewhat limited which I like - usualy means what the chef offers will be good and it was! I will be dining here again my next trip to Atlanta."

  • "Wonderful meal with all the local fair. The Atlantian brought me back to being a Bourbon dinner. Just sad they sold out of the monkfish."
