We will definitely go here again. Food was excellent - and the chef was great to making something we specifically modified / requested. It was perfect. The lamb meatballs are delicious - as is the burrata appetizer -- and the brussel spout salad. We bought the kitchen a "sixer" at the end of our meal and they came out to say thanks. Really great dining experience!

Food and atmosphere very nice (and good, different menu), but on this occasion (first for me, but not for my colleague) the service could have been better, was a bit lacking in care and attention.

Food and wine was great, love farm to table. Service was almost a little to attentive, presenting us with the check three times and stopping by checking on us a little too much. Also quite pricey. But expect for that, beautiful design, great food and ambience.

Whisknladle serves a very nice brunch. Their cucumber mimosa is delicious and unique. Our server was attentive and our food arrived promptly. The only downside is that if you order an espresso drink (don't try for low-fat or nonfat, they don't serve them) you will be served at the table, however, for a regular coffee, you must get up and go get it yourself at the buffet table. What's with that? Also, there is no such thing as a substitution, such as sliced tomatoes instead of hash browns. You'll pay for anything different as an extra. Hmmm...

Very interesting menu. Very fresh and organic. The best by far brussel spout side dish I have ever had. Initially service was very slow. Drinks from the bar took a long time, then arrived 1-2 at a time for our party of six. Service improved by the end.

We were very excited to try Whisknladle. Loved the ambiance. Unfortunately it took over an hour to get our food and at least 20 minutes before server approached us at all. My food was good, not fabulous and my partners went uneaten. The highlight of the night was the Mary Peffercorn custom crafted cocktail. It was great. My advice would be go for snacks and bevy's and eat elsewhere.

We were 8 high school friends (from 1961) meeting for an enjoyable lunch of good food, atmosphere and easy-to-hear conversation around the table. ALL met! Our server was the cutiest girl with so much personality!!! Besides taking our order and offering suggestions to those who asked, she had easy talk with us. Personality plus. What a difference care and attitude make.

i've been to whisknladle several times (along with the various prepkitchens) but this was my first brunch at the restaurant. as always, it was a fantastic experience. we sat on the patio (which is enclosed and therefore not pet friendly), and had a such lovely afternoon feasting and drinking, we never wanted to leave. portions were generous enough that we both had enough to take home- i had the pork verde dish and my friend had the pancakes. the service was attentive, friendly, and sincere, and the prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity. one of my favorite menu items at whisknladle is the london burning cocktail- with gin, avocado, and jalapeno, and it was a nice change from the standard brunch bloody. we'll be back.

We were in San Diego for business and decided to wander up to La Jolla for a break. We had an early dinner at Whisknladle, so the restaurant was pretty empty when we got there. It started filling up as we left, so it might be a little noisier during the heart of the dining hour. The food was excellent and the service was perfect. We had a nice table by the open window. The décor was warm and inviting. We shared 2 prix fixe meals with an extra appetizer among 3 people, and it was perfect. The flavors were unique and rich. Definitely on my list for my return visit!

The evening started off great with excellent service provided by our waitress - Valerie. During our meal, several different staff members checked in to make sure we were enjoying everything. The salads and beef dished were quite tasty, too. The head chef also stopped by our table to thank us for buying the kitchen staff a round of beer. We'll definitely be back soon.

For a $45 Restaurant week choice, I didn't think it was that great. I expect to be wow'd!! Our server, Patrick, was great. Very informative and attentive. He knew his stuff. I had the Fried Chicken. It was served with a corn muffin soaked in honey butter. Does that sound decadent and yummy? It was!! The highlight to my meal was the side vegetable. I little prickly green called Agretti (aka Monks beard) they dip it in a house made buttermilk that was yummy!

I came here for Restaurant Week after eating at Prepkitchen, with high expectations. Unfortunately I was let down. The farm salad was good, if not amazing. For entree, I had scallops which had some a topping of some kind that I didn't care for, and soft carrots that lacked a lot of flavor. Dessert was the caramel popcorn parfait which was very good as long as you ate every piece together. By them selves the whipped cream and the ice cream were too salty, and when I had finished the caramel popcorn, there was a bit of ice cream left that I didn't finish

One of our servers offered to move our table away from a nearby group for some privacy without us asking, which was very kind. Whisknladle is a must for anyone traveling to La Jolla.

We went to Whisknladle last year for our anniversary and had a great dining experience so I made a reservation to back this year to celebrate again. The menu, food, and experience was just not as satisfying as it was in 2013. The menu lacked creativity, and there were only 1-2 options that looked appealing. I chose the salmon and felt like I could have cooked the same dish at home, given enough butter. There are only a few restaurants in San Diego that I feel satisfied with after I get $200 bill. Whisknladle was one of them, but not anymore.

Terrific meal (mostly) w/ LA friend on Sat. Vincent Delaporte, Sancere 2013 was excellent accompaniment. Shared/tasted several courses. Gazpacho was delicious (surprise, it was served hot): complex layers of flavor, enhanced by droplets of EVOO. 'Summer Salad' perfectly embodied its name. The Stuffed Quail - tricky to split - worth the effort. Stuffing was a tad too compacted & bland. Two entrees followed: 1. fried chicken 2. octopus pasta, both bit over zealous use of salt. Not withstanding, chicken was cooked to perfection, as was the crusty, crispy dredge concoction encasing the bird. Seafood in the pasta was excellent; flavors in the sauce were appropriately intense. But, pasta, a bit too dense & the sauce, a bit too thick.

Went here for a special date. Perfect. Server, Nicholas, was polite, super with recommendations and all-around took good care of us. Food was fantastic - Mussels, house-made tagliatelle, Salmon, all phenomenal and cooked to perfection. Dessert too - funny because we ordered the ricotta cheesecake without even reading the full description. It came out covered in peaches... I have a peach allergy, and Nicholas was more than happy to get us another dessert at no cost to us. Ordered the ice cream sandwich, which was killer. We were there for nearly 3.5 hours before noticing we were 2 hours past close. No one said a word to us, forced us out or even batted an eye. And very warm on our way out. All-in all, I give this place an A+. Go immediately.
