Such a comfortable casual spot for a great lunch or great dinner because of the very interesting menu. I can't say enough about the service here. Top notch. Nothing is a bother to the servers who all have wonderful friendly attitude. Work your way thru the wine list and the menu to understand why its such a fascinating place to try new food excursions.

Pros: wonderful food, very high quality, farm to table, eclectic menu, excellent bar with diverse specialty cocktails, great service, knowledgeable, helpful staff, modern ambience, upscale without being pretentious or overly formal. What a gem of a restaurant ! Food is delicious and service was outstanding. We ordered several appetizers and they were all delicious. The Buratta appetizer was our favorite. Entrees were great. We were so pleased we felt we had to treat the chefs to a round of beers which is an option on the dessert menu. Too bad we don't live in La Jolla, we probably would have dinner there often.

Terrific meal (mostly) w/ LA friend on Sat. Vincent Delaporte, Sancere 2013 was excellent accompaniment. Shared/tasted several courses. Gazpacho was delicious (surprise, it was served hot): complex layers of flavor, enhanced by droplets of EVOO. 'Summer Salad' perfectly embodied its name. The Stuffed Quail - tricky to split - worth the effort. Stuffing was a tad too compacted & bland. Two entrees followed: 1. fried chicken 2. octopus pasta, both bit over zealous use of salt. Not withstanding, chicken was cooked to perfection, as was the crusty, crispy dredge concoction encasing the bird. Seafood in the pasta was excellent; flavors in the sauce were appropriately intense. But, pasta, a bit too dense & the sauce, a bit too thick.

Went here for a special date. Perfect. Server, Nicholas, was polite, super with recommendations and all-around took good care of us. Food was fantastic - Mussels, house-made tagliatelle, Salmon, all phenomenal and cooked to perfection. Dessert too - funny because we ordered the ricotta cheesecake without even reading the full description. It came out covered in peaches... I have a peach allergy, and Nicholas was more than happy to get us another dessert at no cost to us. Ordered the ice cream sandwich, which was killer. We were there for nearly 3.5 hours before noticing we were 2 hours past close. No one said a word to us, forced us out or even batted an eye. And very warm on our way out. All-in all, I give this place an A+. Go immediately.

After enjoying a full day of La Jolla activities we sat at Whisk for a bite to eat. Tapa's in the bar were delightful as well as our cocktails. After being seated in the dining room we started dinner with the Burrata which was a perfect share for 2 hungry people. Our entree's arrived with perfect timing and we were much more than impressed.

The cocktail list was fun…we all tried different ones and had a taste of each others. All were very good. The food was excellent. We ordered to share so we could all try a number of items. Portions are a good size. So, unless you're a big eater, just an entree is sufficient for one or an appetizer and entree to share for two people. You definitely want to save room for dessert. There wasn't one thing we didn't like. I'd go back and order all the same things or something new to try something different. Either way, I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

When you get a knowledgeable waiter and a fascinating interesting menu mixed with great service you have the perfect combination for a wonderful dining experience. We were 8 and did shared apps and then 8 different entrees. That juggling feat pulled off without problem by very speedy waiter & his busser team. Restaurant handled a last minute request to add 2 persons and move dinner rez forward by 1 hour without blinking ! A topnotch casual night out to be recommended to everybody. Whisk is a definite winner

We managed to snag the last reservation available according to opentable just a few hours before we arrived. The service was excellent, and the drinks/food were awesome. I had the local yellowtail, which was prepared perfectly (although this visit taught me that yellowtail isn't my favorite fish). My girlfriend had the quail, which was absolutely phenomenal. I also had an old fashioned that was delicious. Whisknladle is a bit pricy, but not more than you'd expect for a place in San Diego, and it is well-worth the money.

Returned for happy hour after a great dinner with a friend and were absolutely in love again! The bartenders were so nice and entertaining! We had some of their small plates - Patatas Bravas (told they were most popular) 5 stars! Potatoes with a little spice Wings- "Vietnamese style" tender and slightly sweet .. So good! For drinks we had a couple of $5 sangrias ... Can't beat it.

We were in town from Scottsdale and were looking for a good restaurant that had some seafood and farm to table fare. We found everything we wanted in this restaurant. Plus the service was exceptional. Our friends, who moved to Pt. Loma three years ago had never heard of it. But they loved it and said they would definitely return.

Everything we had was fantastic. I am a light eater so I was fine with the portions. But my husband left not quite full. We had mussel appetizer w/bread, I had NY steak entree, he had salmon. Even after dessert, he he wasn't full. It would have been nice to maybe have a little scoop of rice pilaf or a couple small red potatoes along with the salmon portion. Service was outstanding!

Had a nice lunch on patio with friends with friendly and attentive service. Totally enjoyed ambiance. However, food was just okay. Had caesar salad with shrimp which consisted of romaine lettuce leaves drenched in dressing and stacked in an ungracious pile with four minuscule shrimp. Taste of dressing and shrimp was nice but presentation and size/quality of shrimp for price was underwhelming. Would also be nice if bread was warm and came with herbal oil or something interesting. Friends did enjoy their dishes so will give restaurant another chance, probably for dinner.

We've been to Whisknladle over a half dozen times in the past year and always enjoy it. We particularly like the appetizers. This time, three of us shared the most amazing mussels with creme fraiche (I actually drank the broth like soup, when I wasn't dunking bread), along with a summer salad, delicious flat bread with a creamy burrata, and two glasses of white wine. The decor is attractive and the atmosphere lively, if a bit loud. The staff is always helpful and ours fortunately recommended the mussels. Thanks.

We had a remarkable dinner at WiskNLadle a few nights ago. My husband and I shared a salad to start, the parmesan was delicate and strong at the same time which was perfect with lots of ground pepper and greens. For dinner we shared the wild salmon that crimped our conversation as we were both quite distracted by the very perfectly prepared fish. Wild salmon is always at the top of our list, but this was extraordinary, with a gentle crust. For desert we shared a scoop of lemon sorbet, it was not too sweet, a perfect balance for ending the meal. I had a signature gin drink, but wished I would have gone with a dry Chardonnay instead, it would have paired perfectly with the entire meal.

We ate here in a large group with kids. They were accommodating to the kids' needs but don't have a formal kids menu. The cocktails were unique & flavorful. We ordered the buratta and bone marrow for appetizers, both of which were delicious. Unfortunately the appetizers were the best part of the meal. The entrees lacked much flavor beyond being very salty. The pork was plated raw and when it was returned to be cooked more, we were told that was their idea of medium preparation. We opted to skip dessert after our entree disappointment. We sat out on the patio which offered a very nice ambience for our group. The wait staff was very attentive. But we just didn't think that the meal was worth it for the price. Maybe that's La Jolla!

The concepts were generally fine, but the execution just wasn't there. The waitstaff was amiable enough and professional, but slow to make it to our table. The flavor profile on the appetizer was good, but there were two toothpick shards hidden amongst the diced tomatoes (fairly dangerous in low light). Bread plates were not changed, making it difficult to eat the particular appetizers that we ordered. The scallops would have been fine, but were way too salty (the salt overwhelmed the corn puree). No complaints about the dessert, the berry pudding was excellent, but the coffee was cold. Maybe we caught them on a bad night, and I would definitely overlook the problems at a less expensive restaurant. But we won't be returning anytime soon.

The ingredients are of good quality. The service is spotty. Their portions have been dramatically down sized. A $15.00 salad, with a quarter of a peach ? I'm not a glutton mind you, but at this price point, I shouldn't have to run over to Bijou for a cheese plate afterwards, in order attain some degree of satiation.

Every time I've been in, I've found something new that keeps me coming back again. Recently I tried the mussels, the waitress described the sauce as "so good you could drink it straight" and she was right! If you like to try new drinks, they have a good variety of signature cocktails to choose from. I get "London's Burning" with tequila rather than gin, it's spicy, but delicious! Go to WNL for good food, good drinks and to enjoy an evening on their patio! Only problem is the price, drinks, apps & entree can run up the bill... But every time I leave I'm not disappointed, instead I'm talking about what I'm going to try when I come back!

What appeared to be an upscale restaurant with a unique menu turned out to be a high end Chucky Cheese with an eclectic collection of simply odd tasting food and drink items. Everything served looked amazing but not even the waiters suggestions of a bone marrow appetizer for two or the scallops entree passed as good. Just as the unique description of each of the 7 menu items we ordered turned out to be odd, so did the restaurant itself. The place was filled with children scurrying about perhaps drawn by the hamburger we didn't order but described by the waiter as amazing. Overall for a dinner for two at $200 the food and drink should be more than good looking and the eatery itself shouldn't confuse fine dining with children's offerings.
