A word from What If... of Hershey
The What If... of Hershey, is located in the sweetest place on earth, Hershey, Pennsylvania. Make your way down the warmly lit steps to our relaxed menu at the bar, and begin with our famous house infused martini made with fresh squeezed juice. Our eclectic menu is famous for our bountiful crab martini or our collection of beef or seafood sliders. A full service menu is offered in the dining room with an extensive wine list, while you can choose from signature dishes, like pan-seared scallops, and fresh calamari, or our chicken saltimbocca and hand cut filets.

Sweet endings are a ritual of What if…Hershey. All made on premise, including one of Hershey's favorites: our Hot Fudge Peanut Profiterole.

  • "What If is a consistently great resturant. I have been there many times over the few years and I have never had a bad experience -this was no different. All the food & beverage was good and brought to us with thoughtful course timing, not rushing us. The server, although young, was helpful and accomadting. The only drawback was going during resturant week, which helped lower the final tab, but was lacking in other ways. The salads for those of us that ordered off the special menu were lacking nice lettuce. And the dessert sampler was a strange mix of mini portions. The turtle dessert being so small it was barely a mouthful. If I did not know how great What If was might make me as a critical first time customer not come back."

  • "I made our reservation via OpenTable, site unseen, after noticing their online menu. I had no idea the restaurant was located in the lower level of Howard Johnson's along Chocolate Ave, and we drove by it before seeing the sign. When we first walked in, we were unfortunately greeted with the HoJo's lobby, & nearly walked out to find another place. But, we made our way down the stairs and were greeted with the wonderful aroma of garlic and grilled meats, so we stayed. The apps were terrific (pierogies w/ chorizo), the spinach salad was a little "off" (the vanilla infused dressing made it candy-like) but the wine list was impressive and affordable, so that helped. Excellent entrees & dessert menu - wow! I highly recommend!!"

  • "What a great place to dine! The food was excellent & reasonably priced. The server was wonderful. He made us feel very welcomed & did not rush us through the meal. The only drawback is the fact that it is in the basement of an older looking Howard Johnson's. All in all it was a wonderful dining experience !!!"

  • "There were five of us for dinner, celebrating birthdays of two of us. Originally we were seated near a large group (Bridal shower?) that prevented us from having a conversation. We asked to be moved and were accommodated to a quieter table. Food and service were excellent. Appetizers, Entrees, and deserts were all well prepared with large portions. Only complaints were the noise level (even after we were relocated) and final bill ($287.00 + tip) which included no drinks, fairly expensive for our area."

  • "I made reservations at this restaurant for 6:00 but arrived at 5:30. This was supposed to be a dinner and concert gift for my husbands 50th birthday. It was a very busy evening and we ordered our drinks and appetizer right away. After asking about specials we ordered dinner. At 7:30, 2 hours after getting there, we were told we would be served soon,"only 2 tables ahead of us". We asked for the check and received a sincere apology. Thank goodness the concert was fantastic and my husband enjoyed his special night, even without dinner."

  • "We have been dining here for special occasions for years. The service has gone downhill. Out water arrived at our table over 30 minutes after we were seated and had to ask twice to get it. The bread basket only arrived after our main course and we had to ask for that too. Service was slow - we were warned when we placed our order that the kitchen was busy with a party of 50 (sounds like bad planning to me). The menu hasn't changed much in the last several years, was a little disappointed to see the same old entrees. For the amount of money we spent on our food and drinks I would expect better quality and better service. Will probably be taking this establishment off of my list of places to go for that "special" evening out with my husband."

We asked for our bill when we ordered desert which she delivered immediately but took 10 minutes to pick it up from out table.Excellent peanut butter pie for desert.My wife's steak was cold and mine was barley warm.Still the best I ever had."

  • "Been to this restaurant many times and it is usually very good. Thought I was going for a special Mardi Gras meal but they cancelled it and I wasn't informed so I was very disappointed. The pork belly was awesome though but my steak was undercooked but I didn't want to send it back. Will give them another chance in the future."

  • "If you are looking for unique, creative, innovative food, served hot and in a timely manner, you may wish to look elsewhere. If, on the other hand, you prefer drab, standard restaurant fare, served late (3 of 4 entrees were served 20+ minutes after our salads, while the 4th entree was served 28+ minutes after our salads...and it was barely warm!), tepid, and in some cases old (the white rice--yes, white rice!--served with the salmon special had cold, crunchy clumps, suggesting that it was scraped from the bottom of a pot...definitely neither freshly made nor promptly served!), all in a bomb-shelter-like atmosphere (the restaurant is situated in the basement of a hotel and so has no windows or natural light), "What If" offers that in spades."

  • "My fiance and I were staying near by in the town of Palmyra at a B&B named 1825 Inn, Valentine weekend. I found this restaurant using Yelp!! which by the way has never steered me wrong... LOVE IT!!! the staff were very friendly and helpful. Have to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to Dennis the bartender!!! he was awesome. Their cheesy bacon fries, Veal Parmesan & Filet Mignon was done to perfection."

  • "I took my wife here for our anniversary/valentines day and we were both extremly happy. From beginning to end we didnt have one complaint. Our waitress, sorry cant remember her name but she was a petite asian girl was very good and attentive to our needs. We loved the cheese tray as an appatizer and our food was delicious. My wife loved the atmosphere, dimly lit and just an overall great atmorphere. We live in palmyra and pass it all the time but never stopped, but im sure we will now."

  • "This restaurant was fantastic in every sense of the word. My girlfriend and I sat at a table that was close to another group, yet we hardly noticed they were even there. Food was exceptional and the server was great, she would allow us to eat and enjoy conversation while making sure empty plates did not sit around for more than two or three minutes. Overall it was a great experience and I will not hesistate to go back for any reason."

  • "We went to celebrate valentines day here. We had heard mixed reviews that the food ranges from terrible to good. Our server was the bartender who ran back and forth to the bar all night. We were seated at a table, not at the bar. We wished we had a regular server whose attention was not so diverted. We had a very hard time gettibg bartenders attention if we needed anything.Dinner plates took over an hour to come and tasted terrible. Food was incredibly bland and tasted like it was missing several ingredients. I will say dessert was good though. We will not go back here again."

  • "We like What-If, Hershey very much. We generally wouldn't think of dining at a restaurant located in a motel but What-If is a pleasant exception. We find the food to be of consistent good quality, drinks are always excellent. Service has been always above average. Our only complaint this past Saturday night was our fault. We made a late, last minute reservation on a Saturday night and got seated in an overflow-type banquet room so it was not the ambience that the main dining areas of the restaurant has. However, our food, drinks and service were still above par."

  • "We had our reservation set up for New Year's Eve. Although busy, they were able to seat us early. They had their full menu and a speciality menu as well. Our dinner was brought out quickly and was absolutely delicious. The lobster ravioli had large amounts of lobster meat in and outside the ravioli. The drinks were made to perfection, especially my husband's Cheese cake dessert shot at the end of the night. We would recommend What If...of Hershey. It was a great start to our New Year's Eve. We will definitely be back!"
