A word from W.G. Kitchen and Bar Rookwood
WG Kitchen & Bar is a full service restaurant and bar featuring a 1500 label retail wine shop. Guests will enjoy our bistro style menu ranging from small plate appetizers (charcuterie, assorted cheeses, our family recipe meatballs and more) to full entrees (seafood, pasta, steak, lamb). We have 40+ wines available by the glass or, for the adventurous, by the flight, which is an individual wine tasting comprised of 4 wines in a specific category. We also carry 12+ craft/import/domestic bottled beers. And, finally, guests can enjoy one of our specialty cocktails or their preferred drink from our full bar.

Guests can enjoy excellent, full service at our bar or on our beautiful patio on a first come, first serve basis. OR you can make your reservation for our dining room now.
Either way, we can't wait to see you!

Diner Reviews
  • "Great service, great, reasonably priced wine selection (free corkage on Mondays!) and the menu is excellent. We ordered four different entrees and all four were excellent."

  • "We go here on a regular basis as its in our neighborhood and close to get to for both lunch and/or dinner. I don't I've ever had a bad meal and the service is always great. We're usually recognized as regulars when we are there by servers and/or management, which makes it even more special, but they treat everyone well. The risotto is consistently perfectly cooked and there is a special risotto every day. The seafood cioppino (which is on the menu) is arguably the best I've ever had - it's got a great smoky, tomato-ey flavored risotto and the combination of scallops, clams, shrimp and mussels has great depth of flavor (and I don't even like mussels but I do in this dish!). Drooling just thinking about it...LOL. We love this place!"

  • "Unfortunately our waiter was not the best. They were out of one of our entrees but were not told about it for 10-15 minutes after we ordered. That information should have been told to us much sooner. However, the chef & manager both spoke to us about it & we did receive a dessert to share."

  • "I was entertaining associates from another location of our company and all three of them told me that the choice for dinner was excellent. We had a great time, great food and would return."

  • "This was my second time dining at WG. It was great to sit outside. Later in the evening we could hear ukulele music from someone sitting near Starbucks. We could also hear fireworks from the Reds game. The service was slow, though. My husband really liked his pork. I was sad that they were sold out of risotto, and instead ordered the chicken Marsala. It was okay, not great. Didn't think the mashed potatoes or green beans tasted good. Bottle of wine ordered didn't seem to match taste of what we sampled."

  • "had group of 10 people, mixed reviews on food & value; for instance, I had roasted red pepper bisque...had so much tomato base that it should have been called tomato soup with a touch of red pepper (was faint). Two colleagues had crab cakes, and the plates had a touch of sauce, which they liked, but was not enough...I had the dinner portion blackened / spicy scallops, which had 4 small scallops with little spice, a lot of red sauce, and a massive salad in the middle. Flavors versus descriptions and portions were odd. The positive - the wine choices were great for 2-4 people, less so for large groups"

  • "Great place for drinks and food. We went the small plate route and was not disappointed. For the amount of food we ordered and buying a full bottle of wine, it was very reasonable. Also, no corking fees on Mondays and Thursdays! If I lived closer I think I would be spending a lot of money at WG."

  • "Food was wonderful! Service was great, choice of wine plentiful"

  • "The atmosphere was great and the food was all very good. Loved the pita and dip they present to you when you first sit down - great idea rather than bread. It was hard to pick something from the menu because everything looked so good! Will definitely be back; I cant wait to try other menu options. The only con was our server was really slow :( at one point my husband had to go to the bar to get his own beer! Overall a great night though."

  • "Enjoy this restaurant over and over. Fun to try the wine flights and the broad range of menu items to meet your taste buds for the night. "
    Dined on 5/31/2014
  • "The grilled salmon was excellent and the BBQ chicken flatbread (on a glutton flatbread) was so good, I have been craving it every since. "
    Dined on 5/29/2014
  • "The food was excellent and the service was attentive without being overbearing. The server was very knowledgable about the menu as well. Overall a great dining experience. I would have liked a few more vegetarian-friendly menu items though."

  • "Everything was delicious, and the service was good. they really seemed to care if we enjoyed ourselves. "

  • "a We love the nice four glass wine tastes. You can buy full bottles at good prices for your table or take some home. Our group likes to buy items from each group and share. You get tastes and can try several unique items. Give WG a try."

  • "We enjoyed our experience at WG. I can't believe we waited so long to try it. They have happy hour on Saturday evening. We sat at the bar and tasted a wine flight and had an appetizer before moving to a table for dinner. The Italian reds and Cabernets were both good choices. The food was outstanding. We will definitely return. "

  • "Interesting dining choices and great presentation plus low noise level and plenty of table room to spread out files, etc., made this a perfect spot for a business lunch. Attentive and enthusiastic service, too. We'll be back. "

  • "The waitress must have hed her cirst night. She took our order for the entree after the appetizer was cleared. The flight of wins is a great recommendation. I would not sit outside. All you look at is the parking lot. Tha bar looked nice but there were only four people at the bar and it looked a bit sad and lonely. There are no tvs in the bar that i saw. That's a plus. The chocolate lava cake is another recommendation. Thw waitress was nice enough."

  • "This is a great place for a girls' night or even an after-work event. The wine is great. The menu has enough variety but isn't complicated. The prices are reasonable and the service is great!"

  • "Had a wonderful experience at WG - our first visit there! Easter Brunch was fantastic. Prices/value were great, served in a nice quiet atmosphere. While my son enjoyed a normal seafood dish that was fantastic, I enjoyed eggs/steak medallions that were prepared extremely well and a real value. Definitely we will come back again to WG!"

  • "We sat at the bar, initially for pre-dinner drinks but were so comfortable we stayed for dinner. Great atmosphere!! The wine flights are a fun way (and cheap during happy hour) to try several wines in one sitting. While the wine menu says the 4 tastings total 1.6 glasses of wine I'd say it was closer to 2 glasses, all for $9 (HH price). We enjoyed splitting each course, appetizer, salad, entree, and dessert. We both left comfortably full and the bill was quite reasonable. We will be back again soon!"

  • "I recently visited WG on Friday evening. While we were not able to have a seat on the lovely patio, we did enjoy a delightful evening in the spacious restaurant. My 2 companions and I shared 3 small plates and a large fresh salad. All the selections were presented in a most pleasing fashion, there was more than enough to share, and we all enjoyed the terrific taste combinations. Thanks for a great evening!"

  • "We have dined @ W G Kitchen about a half dozen times and have thoroughly enjoyed it every time. Great food, great service...we always leave feeling so glad we came. One of our favorites!"
    Dined on 4/10/2014
  • "Food and service was good. Great salads. Very noisy. It was hard to have conversation with our table of 4. No beer on tap. Good selection of wines. Our server let us taste some wines before we ordered as we never heard of some of them. Would go back but not rushing. Parking was a problem."

  • "Great service, food and gluten free menu. I will be back for sure!"

  • "This was my first visit to W.G. Kitchen in Rookwood and I was surprised with the excellent service. It is a casual restaurant with 5 star service. The menu has a nice blend of dishes and it not too large. The food was excellent and worth a return visit. The only drawback was that it was a little too loud which had it hard to communicate with the person at the table with me."

  • "The wine is great and doing the wine flights I think it feels like an event. Was surprised, was not expecting such great food!! Will definitely go again."

  • "Brought my mom and her friends' to this place for dinner to celebrate the International Women's Day. We had a very, very aggressive server: she screamed out the features, and kept on her military style in constantly bugging us about one thing or another. She was very pushy and seemed to interrupt any conversation we were trying to enjoy. I do not recall her smiling a single time. If the objective of this restaurant was to usher us in and out w the efficiency rate and friendliness of McDonalds ... Then ... Yes, congratulations - it had been achieved!"

  • "The food was quite good. Service was a bit slow. We had an early reservation because we were heading to a sporting event. Menu has something for everyone and they were flexible and whipped up a salad that used to be on the menu that I think is fantastic. We really enjoyed ourselves."

  • "The food was very well presented and paced, the service was very good and did not hover or neglect the customer. The tables were big and comfortable. The menu features wine flights which is very nice, as this is a wine bar, but on the night I was there at least, the wine flights were nothing to write home about. I hardly call J. Lohr Cabernet the top flight glass of a Cabernet tasting. But the pours were generous for a flight. We had a good time and will come again, it might be a bit too noisy for a business dinner, but otherwise it was a nice evening."

  • "The restaurant is lovely; half is a fairly substantial wine shop, and the other half has tables. We were seated promptly and our server was attentive and knowledgable about both the menu and wines. One of my friends and I both ordered a bottle of wine to go at the start of our meal, which he was kind enough to keep chilled for us until we left. The food is delicious! We ordered Chicken Marsala, barbecue chicken flatbread pizza, Cioppino stew, and spicy shrimp pasta. No complaints on any of the dishes! My only issue is that the restaurant doesn't have high chairs/booster seats. We had to hold my niece throughout the meal since she is a toddler - minor inconvenience, but not a huge deal, and didn't detract from our overall experience."

  • "We had a shorty time to dine to get to a play. We enjoyed a flight of sweet wine and some appetizers. The roasted red pepper bisque was delicious. We also had the roasted red pepper bruschetta and barbecue chicken pizza. All delicious and service friendly! Definitely will return!!!"

  • "WE had a party of 6. Reservations were for 8:oo pm WE were seated at 8:40. Yes they were busy but a restaurant needs to spread out the reservations because some people will sit there to long."

  • "Enjoyed everything about this restaurant. Had a fun time with "the girls" doing some wine tasting and enjoying each other's company. The food was very good, although the risotto I had was a little under done and a little crunchy. I did not say anything, however, because it was extremely flavorful!! All in all I'd definitely go back again!"

  • "The night we went there were 2 large parties seated right next to us. They were very loud and took the attention of our server so that we had to be just an after thought. The food was also a disappointment. The hangar steak was tasty but cut against the grain so it was tough. The ciopino was some seafood with a tomato soup poured over it."

  • "We had a group celebration, and a number of us tried different wine flights. These are a wonderful way to try different wines. Our server was friendly, courteous, and attentive. The food came quickly and was good for sharing. I will definitely go back."

  • "Our party enjoyed everything about W.G. Kitchen and Bar! The decor, to begin with, was fabulous - very hip yet comfortable. Melissa the host and waiter was top notch; the food, from meatloaf to risotto special to burgers - was phenomenal. Love the adjacent wine bar and shop, too. We of course uncorked the knowledge of the winos working there and brought home a few choice bottles! Expand to Cleveland, W.G.!"
