  • "Food was fantastic. Quite a range of food and very tasty. Server kept this from being 5 stars overall. If she was personable that did not come across. She spoke little and at times was rather curt. The people who brought our dishes and took them away were very friendly. Perhaps she was having a bad night. We will come again but not for a special occasion."

  • "The food was terrific. The service was polite but at times it took our server too long to return or to provide items. My desert order was delayed which was frustrating and it was difficult to find our server to learn why there was a delay. An update from the server on why there was a delay would have been helpful. The server did give me the dessert as complimentary which I appreciated. The bottom line is that for the price of the meal (which is expensive) the service should have been better. I still like this place and would still return in the future. For the price range, I have high expectations of what the service needs to be."

  • "Overall it was good. I had the shrimp & grits, which were good but not great. My wife had a burger, which she said was very good. The cheddar tater tots were disappointing. But the wine list is very good, so go for a burger and great glasses of wine."

I waited for her to take a carry out order over the phone and when I asked if I could join my friend at the bar for a drink before dinner she proceeded to give me a litany of reasons that this half full restaurant could not let us do this.   • "Noisy and very busy. This is probably the place to go if you want to be seen in the DC social scene. The over priced food was OK but for my money I would rather go to a place that concentrates on serving a quality product with respect and care rather than being "the next big find". That having been said I am probably in the minority as the place was packed"

  • "First time at the Bistro for a weekday lunch for two. Excellent service from Rachel, good burger cooked to order, and enough truffle fries for four people. Brussel sprouts were also very good, but swimming in oil. Don't look to closely at the decor ...not dirty, just very, very tired. In need of an overhaul."

  • "The wine markup here is nothing short of scandalous. The markup from retail approaches 4x which is unreasonable by any measure. There are no wines that are reasonably priced --- for us, it was the lesser of many evils. A pity, since the food goes very well with wine, but at these prices you'll only take one bottle."

  • "I work a block from the restaurant so go therre a few times a year and often come away disappointed. Took a friend their for her birthday. Service was good, food was cold and mediocre. Ordered a chicken sandwich on flat bread that was more like a quesadilla. Greasy, small, boring. Since the entrees only come with a side salad, we ordered a side of fries, that were cold and stiff like they had been sitting out for a while. Basket of bread and Dessert were positives. Lunch with the tip was $75 for two people ( no drinks) and should have been better. Have been there before and more positive but very hit of miss."

The food is good, the service is impecable and friendly, but with a bill toping $120 for dinner for two (2 entrees, 1 dessert, 2 drinks) that's the minimum you would expect. It was a nice dinner, but I wasn't wowed."

The place was busy, the waiter was nice (with a good sense of humor) and the food was perfectly nice, but not exceptional. If the hotel would extend the glass partition dividing the bar from the restaurant, i;e. make it another 8 feet taller, it would provide a much nicer dining experience."

  • "I went to this restaurant after readying the Washington Post Magazie article about it. The oysters were superb. Clean and briny...so good. The bread is almost Irresistible but hold back because you are here for the trout... The trout that the article referred to as a feature of the hotel’s Bistro Light menu is SO VERY GOOD. I cannot believe it was only 375 calories. It was the best meal I have had in recent memory. The staff were attentive and it was a lovely meal. The only negatives: the table is small and very close to the next table. When they placed someone next to me, I heard MUCH more about their relationship than I wanted to. However, all in all, great meal, marvelous service. I will be back."

  • "We walked in at 8 pm and were a little worried because there were so many empty tables. But then the bartenders couldn't have been nicer as we waited for our friends to arrive and the place quickly filled up. At the table, we were so impressed with the food. All four appetizers (tuna tartar, parsnip soup, pate, and mussels) were amazing and then the entrees (2 orders of trout, duck, and salmon) were also fabulous.The server was a little MIA but very nice as were the other people working there. It was a lovely experience, especially from a food perspective. We will be there again soon!"

  • "I came here to eat with 3 friends. We had the stuffed calamari and the scallops to start. Both were awesome! For our entrees, we had the roasted chicken, the duck breast, the trout, and the hangar steak. Clearly we are all carnivores...but everything was cooked perfectly. The server recommended the fried Brussels sprouts, which I am soo glad that she talked us in to! Wow! Unexpected! I absolutely loved my experience and will definitely be coming back!"

  • "Our 4-person table was in the center (not one of the booths ). When the food started to come, there was not sufficient room on the small table for everybody's plates. Extremely uncomfortable -- having to hunt for your water and wine glasses from whatever little corner they had to be tucked in. The noise level was such that it was not possible to conduct a 4-person conversation and we were forced to hear bellowing conversations from the surrounding tables.. The food was above average; however, only one main dish was suitable for a vegetarian and it was of the ever-present pasta variety. Also. my dish was barely warm. Given the dining experience, the restaurant seems way overpriced -- both he food and the wines. Never again."
