  • "This was a Birthday dinner request. Fabulous food and service! Unfortunately a bit too pricey to make it a regular hot spot for dinner. Definitely will go back again for another special occasion though. Our server Karen was the best!!! Crab cake appetizer was like no other! Mashed potato side was just plain and ordinary mashed potatoes. I would choose something different next time. Scallops were excellent and filet mignon was done perfectly for someone who likes it well-done. Cooked to perfection!"

Our waitress and entire wait staff were wonderfully attentive. Our glasses were never more than a third empty. Overall, it was a w onderful evening."

Lighting a little dim but that might just be our approaching older eyes. Great wait staff, Chris was our server. Helpful recomendations and a very pleasant experience. It was well paced, neither too rushed or too long a wait. Pretty pricey but well worth it for the occasion."

  • "Cool decor, table spacing is good. Food was delicious. We had the pork porterhouse and pistachio crusted lamb chops. Both cooked to perfection - best pork I've eaten in years & the chops were so prime that they hardly tasted lamb-ey at all (which could be seen as a negative by some, but they were perfect). The white chocolate creme brulee was recommended by the server, and it stood up to it! The only negative comment is very minor - our server didn't tell us that one of the desserts (molten chocolate cake) takes 20 minutes to prepare when she took our order - and one in our party would have ordered that had he known."

He had mashed potatoes/bacon creamed corn and I had mashed potatos/Mac and cheese. It was all very yummy. Best steaks we've ever had.elt in your mouth. So amazing. Also had the delicious chocolate lava cake. so delicious. Never had an awful bite here. Always so tasty. Highly recommend this place."

I dined with VIce President of the company I work for and we were both very impresssed with the service (got seated right away), ambience was wonderful, but a bit too dark, unable to read menu very well. Our waiter, Anne Marie recommend the seafood special and it was fabulously delicious. Wine list was impressive as well. Overall, we had a wonderful dinner and enjoyed everything about West Steak and Seafood, other than a bit too dark to see menu. I would still recommend to anyone. One note: VP left her AMEX card at the resturant we I was contacted within 20 min from when we left. EVeryone was professional and helpful."

  • "The only two reasons that I made a reservation at this place because I wanted to treat my girlfriend and I wanted some Wagyu Steak. When we first got there the enviornment was great and the bread was good. The waiter then informed me that they were out of the wagyu steak when she was informing us of the specials. My girlfriend and I both looked at each other because we both new that I wanted to get the wagyu. The waitress then said let me talk to the chef to see if we still have some (even though not 10 seconds ago she said that you guys ran out of wagyu. She came back in less then 30 seconds and said that there happens to be one more wagyu. Well I am running out of characters but I ordered it and it was not wagyu."

We had traveled to CA to see our young Marine; stationed at Camp Pendleton. We stayed in Carlsbad, and many mentioned West as a certain go-to place for a great evening. West delivered in every way. The lobster, steak, and fish were each prepared perfectly. Flavorful and tender. I am devastated that I can't remember the young lady who was our server. She was perfect! Treating us and our son with the greets respect and care. And always seeming to enjoy herself and her job. Helpful with substitutions and alterations. And all this while incredibly busy on Vday!"

  • "This was our first time visiting the "West Village" as it is known in Carlsbad. There are four separate businesses all owned and operated by the West family. There's the West Bistro, The West Steakhouse and Seafood, The West Inn & Suites, and The West Convenience Store. The West Steakhouse and Seafood Restaurant is comparable to Ruth's Chris as far as their steaks are concerned. The presentation is perfect and the food is excellent. I had the Filet Mignon which was super tender and cooked perfectly. My fiancé had the twin lobster tails and she was equally impressed. We will definitely return."

  • "Outstanding service and a beautiful venue. We chose the restaurant to celebrate Valentine's Day and my birthday and that may have been our mistake due to the push for an entertaining evening. I ordered their best NY cut and it was cooked perfectly, but the steak was tough. I didn't enjoy the meal overall, but I must say the asparagus was wonderful. I doubt that we will return and will probably choose 333 Pacific or Morton's in the future. Once again, West has an outstanding wait staff - always on the job, but unobtrusive."

  • "I've eaten here dozens of times, never been disappointed. We actually ventured out on VD, generally avoid the chaotic mess that happens to restaurants on this day. They were of course completely full but I reserved a couple weeks in advance. They always have plenty of staff to accommodate great service and fine dining. Steaks are always better than Ruth Chris, Morton's, Donovan's, etc. Wife had the sword fish (I know, fish at a steak house...ughh) but it was exceptional. You're looking at $100 per person without wine, but this place is one of the finer things in life....."

Our dinner arrived before we were done with Our salads or cocktails. We both felt that the dry aged ribeye steak was Lacking in flavor, tenderness and not juicy. I think it was under a heat lamp. The service was good I must say."

The dishes run from mid-high prices, while the wine list ranges from downright cheap to pretty spendy. On our last visit, my wife enjoyed a filet cooked to perfection while I melted into a lobster-Brie raviolone, coupled with a reasonably priced Sangiovese that set all the flavors off perfectly. At this quality, the prices are very fair. The drinks were reasonably priced. Service was quietly efficient throughout. The highlight was scallops, prawns and pork belly...simply delicious. I hope that I get back there, and hope you enjoy it too."
