  • "This was by far the best dining experience I have had in San Diego. My family was visiting me from Kansas City and has a very high standard when it comes to food- especially steak. We ordered several appetizers, steaks for everyone all different types, various side dishes and desserts and all of us were 100% satisfied with everything! Our waitress was also great! Very professional, friendly and helpful. I give this restaurant a 10/10!!! I will definitely recommend this place to everyone!"

  • "My wife and wanted a nice quite anniversary dinner close to home, and we got it at West. We started out with the jumbo white shrimp cocktail appetizer and I had a grey goose martini. We had the Chef's Creations, I had the 8 oz. filet and my wife has the sea bass both were great meals...no room for desert. Nice romantic spot, with a great wine selection, great food."

  • "My husband made reservations here for our anniversary--and I'm so glad he did. The food was delicious and the service fantastic. The portions were nice as well. Sometimes nicer restaurants serve tiny portions that are next to insulting--not so here. I left pleasantly full. Both of our meals were plated well, and were so very tasty. We had fish, lobster and steak. The lobster bisque was great too. We finished with the apple cherry cobbler with ice cream, and it did not disappoint. Even their ice tea was exceptional. The service was great too. Our server was knowledgable and friendly, but she didn't over do it, and we didn't feel crowded or rushed. We will definitely go back."

  • "Service was great, decor was nice, no view at all, kind of in a strange part of town behind the power plant. Anyway, my steak special was very good, but my wife ordered the branzino fish, which was just....okay. We've had branzino just about everywhere from Venice Italy to Las Vegas, and this was likely the least interesting version. Really bland, not much flavor. Dessert was good though."

My salmon was fishy tasting and it was just kinda breaded/ baked (reminded me of the old shake and bake method)...I have had better salmon at the cheesecake factory! Its way too dark in there,,I couldnt read the menu and I could barely read my bill when it came. Darkness does not make up for the lack of ambience, I really could not wait to leave! Mushrooms tasted weird. Mashed potatoes were good but they're potatoes! Im not a red meat person but my daughter and son-in-law loved theirs.,,,, so I guess you gotta like red meat. I would not go back!"

  • "A Celebratory evening with another couple made special by the service and wine options; however, my husband and I were disappointed with our steak and lobster...it appeared that all steaks ordered at our table, despite different cuts, were cooked the same, not as requested.....the lobster we had was chewy, even when recooked....our friends were happy with their bone in steaks, so they were satisfied with the preparation...our crab cakes were wonderful, so overall the experience was good, just not excellent!....perhaps, just a bit more care to making sure all food offerings are prepared to order would be my only suggestion....."

  • "This restaurant has great food of all varieties: steaks, seafood, etc. But, it is not for anyone looking for a bargain. The tab for 4 adults with two bottles of wine will probably be over $400. With great food and service, I guess you could consider that price a bargain. For folks that have trouble reading menus in dimly lit environs, better bring a small flashlight with you."

This was a great find, the place does not seem like much, in a little hotel complex, but upon entering and viewing the incredible wine cellar, we felt this was going to be good. Had the best prime rib ever. My partner had lamb chops that were perfectly seasoned and cooked. Crab cakes were perfect, no fillers just sweet delicious crab with a wonderful sauce, creamed spinach was so good, not overpowering with cream, just right. The service was exceptional and I hope we come back to Carlsbad soon just so we can return to this amazing restaurant."

The dessert menu has humdrum and didn't display much originality. Overall, the restaurant is expensive but worth the splurge."

The steak was okay but barely seasoned and very tiny. Our favorite thing was the creamed corn. Really? Isn't that ridiculous? We will never go back"

  • "What a special treat. I spent two weeks in southern California. This restaurant was far the best. My hopefully daughter in law had salad and an appetizer. She had fresh tuna. The highest quality, well presented, very enjoyable. The rest of the table had fresh salad farm to table. My husband and son had the menu, with excellent steak choices, and also very affordable priced. I had the fish platter with a variety of fish choices. The taste was excellent, I would have liked the tasty sauce on the side. The vegetable choices are terrific. Every one should try the ratatouille. Regarding the desert menus, but I did not allow my husband to order, I recommended a walk instead. The desert menus are wonderful, I just do not eat it."

And for a special occasion or romantic night out, it's perfect. The food is the best, the service waits on you hand and foot.   • "We were seated promptly at a nice comfortable booth. Our server took our drink orders very quickly which was nice. Cocktails were delicious I had the Blood Orange cosmopolitan. We had appetizers and our server did not rush us. Ordered dinner and did not have to wait long before it was served. My husband ordered the rack of lamb and was disappointed that he only got 2 chops. Typically at other restaurants you get a small rack. The other 3 meals were very good. Our friends had the lava cake and enjoyed every bite. Overall experience was very nice. Our server was extremely attentive and professional. We enjoyed our evening!"
