  • "Once again, we dined at West Shore Cafe. This is the best restaurant setting on Lake Tahoe. The weather looked like showers might be coming so we sat inside. They opened up the large glass doors/windows and we felt like we were almost outside. Our cocktails and wine were very good. The appetizers were excellent! My daughter and husband ordered appetizers, soup & salads and were very happy. The Caesar salad was very good though not outstanding. The pasta claimed to be fettuccine but was not. It was OK but could have been seasoned better. Even though the main course was not excellent, I will return and order appetizers next time."

  • "We enjoyed the picturesque Lake Tahoe setting while dining on pasta with scallops, fried squash blossoms and deliciously flavored salmon! Bread was so fresh I could have eaten the whole basket!"

  • "We were there for 2 1/2 hours and never got our dinners. the service was terrible and the manager comped our few appetizers because he was so embarrased. We've had good and bad experiences at West Shore Cafe before....this was the worst!"

  • "We found this restaurant by word of mouth! The views are spectacular!!! Check it out!!!"

  • "Expensive and not a great selection. My halibut was so-so, husband's $15 burger was good, shrimp was good, salad was okay. Service a bit slow. It was the 4th of July, but not super busy. Beautiful views."

  • " This was our first time to Tahoe, Wow. To start our time off with such a fantastic dinning experience will forever leave a great memory for us. Thank you to staff and Chief's for the pleasure. Monica was superb and David from Spain rounded out the evening. Thankyou."

  • "We felt the menu was too over the top with some of the ingredients. We ended up ordering soup, salad and the prawns off of the appetizer section. I know you won't but I wish some of the old menu items would be brought back. I live in the neighborhood and was there 2-3 a week last summer. My view is spectacular. I'll probably be staying home."

  • "The ambience could not be better! I would give it a ten stars based on that alone. I would almost be happy if they served me cardboard. However at $75 for one appetizer, two main dishes, one beer and one wine, I was disappointed. My halibut was cooked perfectly, but WAY over salted. The veggies were fine; but not over the top. My husbands dish included scalloped potatoes, which they were out of (along with many other items), so the sub was mashed potatoes; not too exciting. His broccoli rabbie was overcooked almost to the point of soup. His chicken was good, but nothing special. All in all the meal was less than average. The service was friendly, however, everything was supper delayed, which is fine being in such an amazing place."

  • "While this restaurant offers fantastic views, the food and service need work. My wife had to return her steak twice before they finally got it right. My salmon was a bit over cooked. The Caesar Salad was very small with ver little dressing and carries an exorbitant price of $14.00. That is most we have ever paid for a Caesar Salad. We probably will not return here for dinner."

  • "We booked a table through open table - requested a view - and got one. Really great food and wine. Recommend the spicy margarita. Kids got stuff to do - good kid's menu as well. Can only recommend. Price wise its a $$$$."

  • "West Shore Cafe used to have a reputation as an expensive, stuffy place to eat. But it's totally remade its image, its prices are more reasonable and the view is incredible. We had dinner there this week and really enjoyed ourselves. The food was outstanding and the service couldn't have been better. We can't wait to enjoy the outdoor dining this summer! Lynne and the entire staff are incredible, we really enjoyed ourselves."

  • "Everything was perfect- food, service, & drinks. This was a surprise given that it was Valentine's day. I had the special prefix dinner: excellent seafood cannelloni , perfect filet and yummy white chocolate bread pudding. The portions were large and the price very reasonable. My husband had the very good beet salad and the tasty scallops. We had dinner this summer and it was excellent also but I had never eaten inside. And I usually avoid going out to dinner on Valentines day. We may return next year!"

  • "We love this restaurant. In the summer, the deck is delightful and the view second to none. In the winter, the dining room is quite classy and the view is available from every area."

  • "We drove up to Tahoe specifically to have dinner at West Shore Cafe and it was worth it. Great dinner - entrees of scallops and chicken. Loved the brussel sprouts with the chicken. Their version of the Moscow Mule with bruleed fig was excellent. Highly recomment. We love this spot in the winter and more specifically in the summer! Great outdoor dining with a great, friendly vibe."

  • "West Shore Cafe seems to be improving every time we dine there. The quality of their food has especially taken a turn for the better this last year, and the presentation has really impressed us. For the holidays they decorated the place setting with a fresh cedar leaf and put their menu on a natural wood board, which I thought was elegant. They offered a huge 2 person dry aged Durham Ranch prime rib steak which they brought out before you ordered on a beautifully presented platter, and they offered a fabulous tasting steak tartar that was made table side by your waiter....delicious! Their service has noticeably taken a step up and really makes the dining experience feel personal. Best Lakeside dining in Tahoe by far."

  • "The new management team (front and back) have crafted a really smart menu and it shows. The food on our most recent visit was excellent with a fun southern flare. Looking forward to coming back. Excellent Bloody Marys"

  • "We have always loved West Shore Cafe and last night's dinner showed us that they are continually getting better and more consistent. A few restaurant improvements have made room for more bar seating and the menus are way cooler. Saw several tables order the Tomahawk Steak for Two and it looked awesome."

  • "We ordered Breads & Spreads (tasty spreads and fresh breads, The Pickle Jar (a real hit), Pasta Bolognese (not over sauced, pasta done perfectly) and Chicken Gumbo (andouille sausage, chicken, shrimp - fine comfort food). Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal, setting and services. Put Westshore Café on your dining list!"

  • "We really love coming here for the location and view. We were excited to learn a new chef was starting this summer. We have dined here three times since the chef arrived. We are bummed because we want to come here often, but the food is only fair. It has been either under seasoned, or just boring. We have tried fish, beef, lamb and vegetarian, but we never leave thinking that anything was great. Still hoping the chef can get settled in and rev it up a bit. The service and is always very good."

  • "The West Shore Cafe in Homewood is one of the best dining spots on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe in terms of food, lake-view and ambiance, particularly in Summer months when one can dine dock-side."

  • "Six of us enjoyed a late afternoon dinner seated at an outdoor table with a spectacular view of the lake. Our plan was to sit and enjoy our perfect evening as long as possible so we all started out with house specialty cocktails, including a rye old fashion for me. Our starters were – ahi tuna, tomato ‘caprese’ & fried asparagus with squash blossoms. Entrees were – Cod, salmon, rack of lamb, chicken & risotto. All of the dishes were perfectly prepared and shared by all. The service was exceptional. West Shore Café & Inn is ideal for relaxing at one of the most visually stunning lakes in the world. Definitely a big thumbs-up and a must return visit. See you soon."

  • "If only the champagne were a little colder.......... No. seriously; everything was flawless. We were warmly greeted. As we were being seated the gentleman seating us saw that we were about to take photos of each other and offered to take our picture. The waiter was friendly, informative, and very attentive. The food was delicious and so beautifully presented, we took a photograph of it as well. It was a lovely dining experience, and we look forward to returning."

  • "Generally good, but unrealized potential for greatness. Came for our anniversary celebration, which we noted on our web reservation and also mentioned upon our arrival, but no special recognition by any staff or management. Beautiful two story dining room with glass walls on three sides looking out over Lake Tahoe had a remarkable number of burned out light bulbs. Why weren't the candles on all the tables lit for dinner? Outstanding appetizers, but chicken entrée was overcooked and filet was no different than what one might have been served in 1950. Beignets had a great chocolate dipping sauce, but were very heavy. We had a very nice time, but felt it could have been much better with just a little more attention to operational details."

  • "We were visiting Lake Tahoe for the first time but spending only one night over, so we picked the West Shore Cafe & Inn because it's on the quieter west side of the lake. We decided to have dinner there too, and we were not disappointed. The indoor dining room is lovely and we were able to reserve a table next to one of the big open window/doors. The service was superior and the food excellent, both in presentation and taste. The outdoor area is also very appealing for drinks and dining, an unobstructed view of the lake with umbrellas, and heaters. Fabulous place!"

  • "West Shore is a lovely "old Tahoe" style inn and restaurant. We like to go there for lunch by boat. They have many buoys and a boat valet to take you to the pier. The pier extends into Lake Tahoe and there are tables and umbrellas on both the pier and shoreline. We have not been there for dinner, but the lunches are excellent and the service is attentive and friendly. We'll be back often!"

  • "This is one of the most beautiful restaurants I have ever enjoyed. To a person, all in our party said "wow". It has a very large and beautiful deck as well as a pier that extends far in to the lake. The setting cpuld not be improved, it was spectacular. Had some great drinks done very well. We all ordered different dishes which contained fresh ingredients, but did not shine due to the execution of the preparation. Lamp chops too raw, gaspatcho pureed. risotto cold, and lack luster ceasar. Good idea to go with the recommendations of the waiter, which is another plus of this place. The wait staff is young, as in all Tahoe eateries, but are professional and knowledgeable."
    Dined on 8/13/2013
  • "Even though we had a reservation we waited for our table and were excited to sit on the pier having noticed the gas heaters. Once seated the wait staff removed our heat lamp and apologized that it wouldn't be available at the table they had assigned us due to a safety issue. So we moved to a table on the deck and waited quite awhile for the drinks that we had ordered to arrive. The appetizers were very pricey and very small. We shared four different appetizers. Tempura asparagus and squash blossoms were delicious). 45 minutes later our dinner was served. The ladies both ordered the salmon dish that was spot on but the guys both ordered lamb and said it was just ok. Our expectations were not met this time."

  • "I went for lunch and dinner while I was visiting Lake Tahoe. Although I enjoyed the view and great service, I wouldn't go back to this place for dinner. I may go back for their good hamburger for lunch. Bad: *Bouillabaisse was nothing like bouillabaisse, one kind of fish, two kinds of shell fish, and no broth but rice in the dish. *Risotto was nothing like any risotto I tasted over the years. It was very bad. *Oysters were washed both times I ordered although I told not to wash oysters. *Wild King Salmon was sold out. *Crab was tasted like from a can. Good: * Great outdoor setting."
