We got their early when it was
quiet - but it did get quiet noisy when it filled up. Food was good and service was good. I recommend it!"

Good food, good service, lively
room. Only quibble I have is that the tables are way too long when facing each other. Kind of kills the idea of a cozy, romantic dinner."

Excellent Food - fun service -and
if you want a bit of peace -dine on the patio - good fun on a winter night"

Recently visited for lunch with
out-of-town guests. Staff were exceptional - welcoming, courteous, knowledgeable. My guests were in transit with their suitcases and the staff volunteered to store them safely away, without acting like it was an unusual occurrence. We were made to feel completely comfortable remaining at our table after lunch to visit without being pressured by staff to vacate (or buy more). Menu is a little bit safe - standard west coast contemporary type fare, but prices were good, and portions surprisingly generous. Beet salad was a standout at less than $10"

Excellent food and service. Only
negative is the noise level which makes it difficult to carry on a conversation."
Dined on 1/25/2014
The service was amazing - friendly
, efficient staff. Food was even better!"
Dined on 1/25/2014
Went there for dine out with a
friend and had a really great service. Food was absolutely delicious for a dine out menu. Their cookies are the best desserts on the list. It's warm and fresh from the oven."

My friends and I had a great
experience at West Oak this weekend. Great food, great wine and cocktails, outstanding service.... overall I can't wait to be back."
Dined on 1/18/2014
We had dinner at West Oak on new
years eve - early seating. Warm atmosphere, lively, pleasant staff, awesome food. My husband had tenderloin and I the sablefish, both perfectly cooked. Loved the carpaccio to start and the Moscow Mules. Everything was delish. Charmaine our server was efficient and very pleasant. The champagne and vodka bar at the back looks like it would be great fun. We loved Chinoise (the former restaurant in this space), it's the same owner but a different style altogether. We'll definitely be back, looking forward to trying the crab cakes, mussels & fries and..."

I can't say I was really "blown
away" by anything, but it was a nice spot to have a causal bite. Everything was good, and the service was very friendly."
Dined on 12/29/2013
We went in this past Sunday for a
birthday brunch with a table of 8. Our reservation was at 12pm and we didnt leave until past 2pm. The food was good....service was friendly...but we felt that the pace of everything, from the food coming out to us getting our cake and billing....it was very very slow. I'd also like to mention that we were the ONLY table there throughout the entire service. The kitchen only had our order to make...our waiter, only had ONE table to serve. If you're going to go, make sure you are not in any rush or on a tight timeline."
Dined on 12/15/2013
Great energetic atmosphere but
didn't feel rushed at all. The sablefish was very good but risotto, although tasty, seemed more like rice, as did a friend's side order of mushroom risotto. At the end of our meal, the server brought us a complimentary order of their famous cookies because of the delay in serving our meals but we hadn't even noticed. This tells me management is on top of things and proactive, which has been consistent over the course of my many dining experiences at West Oak. Thank you Peter and your team for another great evening!"
Dined on 12/7/2013
We had an amazing time @ WO. Some
of our party had food restrictions that were accommodated so well. The service was exceptional as was the food - especially the mussels. The decor is gorgeous. I can't wait to go back."
Dined on 12/2/2013
Four friends getting together to
dine and chat - ordered the platter for four as it seemed a logical choice. The food on the platter was excellent but we all felt (even the fierce carnivores in the group) that it was too heavily weighted to meat and potatoes. Would have loved more seafood and brightly colored veggies. The complimentary scallop appetizer was a very nice touch and also delicious. Our server was excellent; friendly and attentive. Our only complaint was that as the evening wore on the restaurant was so noisy that we couldn't even hear each other and that was at a table for 4. For that reason, I would think twice before recommending this restaurant. It would depend on what type of experience the diner was going for."
Dined on 11/9/2013
The staff and patrons were almost
uniformly scenic but the good was, on the whole, average. Not bad, but hitting below their weight. An exception: the Brussels sprouts were out of this world (no, really) and a dining companion said the fries were too. The bartender wasn't very versatile either -- if your cocktail isn't on their bar list, don't expect them to know how to make it. I might go here again for drinks and snacks, but not a meal. And not for conversation -- too loud."
Dined on 11/8/2013
The food was great as was the
service. I would definitely go back. If you're looking for a restaurant in Yaletown, definitely this is a very good choice. It's the best steak I've had in Vancouver (much better than the Keg). Per the menu, it's grass fed, etc and it definitely tasted like such. The prices were quite reasonable."
Dined on 11/8/2013
basic standard fair, good food,
nothing groundbreaking or memorable. your standard fish, steak, seafood and carbs. can't remember what i ate by the time i left the restaurant. simply yet another vancouver restaurant hashing out the same thing."

We took a last minute chance on
West Oak on a rainy Friday night and just snuck in before the rush. Great choice! Started at the bar while they prepped our table and enjoyed several features off their $9 bar menu (doubles!) which were well crafted. Followed by fantastic service and meals at dinner. Really enjoyed the personal attention by the owner and other host who added to the lively conversation and experience. We'll be back!"
Dined on 11/1/2013
didn't know what to expect, the
location and service was very attentive and very good, food was slightly above average but not over the top, however was satisfactory to everyone"
Dined on 11/2/2013
"Taste of Yaletown" - good menu,
good variety - 4 stars for the roast chicken and the sable fish. Pasta a little too al dente and lacking in sauce and flavour. In general good value for the price."
Dined on 10/27/2013
I took my parents here for taste
of Yaletown and it didn't disappoint. My parents had the cauliflower truffle soup and the seafood pasta. I had the sablefish with risotto. Everything was cooked to perfection and our server was so patient and attentive throughout the evening. My parents are already talking about going back for more. Great evening, definitely provided the same service as when I went on a regular night."

great vibrant scene! went with a
group of girls and each one of us had a great time. beautiful scene.. delicious drinks and food.. we shared a few appies and was delicious! def will come back again!"
Dined on 10/20/2013
Went to West Oak for a nice
romantic dinner. Great location (heart of Yaletown). BF ordered off the Taste of Yaletown menu, I ordered off the regular menu for variety. Got the roast chicken with potatoes, broccolini and dijon sauce. AMAZING flavours and presentation! The only complaint was that the dish had a bit of pickled something that was too salty. BF's sablefish dish was delicious but the fish was a bit underdone. Great cocktails and appies. The restaurant was a bit too loud once it got busier. Music was a bit too loud."
Dined on 10/20/2013
The menu was varied, with an
emphasis on local and fresh. I appreciate the Ocean Wise designation, to ensure sustainable fishing. The waitress was fantastic and the general wait staff attentive and professional. Very good experience."
Dined on 10/6/2013
Our group enjoyed our seafood
entrees, but the sablefish was quite oversalted. The mussel appetizer was very tasty. Service was adequate. Restaurant was very loud - our group had trouble carrying on a conversation. Good for groups but not good for a quite conversation."
Dined on 9/29/2013
This is truly one of the best
restaurants in Yaletown - if not Vancouver! They simply do everything right. Enough said."
Dined on 9/29/2013
Went on our first date here and it
was a perfect spot for that. Food/drinks were amazing and the service was great. Prices aren't cheap but it's definitely worth it."
Dined on 9/22/2013
Staff was great. Everyone was
right on top of service. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. Food was good. Would recommend. Noice loud and hard to hear each other but other then that I'd recommend."
Dined on 9/21/2013
overall nice room, great looking
people. Main dishes took way to long to come out for a new high end dinning spot. The raised ceilings caused it to be very loud and was hard to hear our table."
Dined on 9/15/2013
We were just ahead of the dinner
crowd so we had our choice of seating and sat outside on the patio. The beet salad was quite the delight and they gladly split the salad for us to share without a charge. The entrees we had --- the pasta with tomato and basil and the beef tenderloin were superb. The steak was cooked perfectly. I had the cottontail cocktail which featured watermelon, mint and vodka and it was a surprisingly good drink. All in all, a nice meal, good food, good service, and good value."
Dined on 9/14/2013
Ate here for the 3rd time before
Eagles concert . Brought some friends and they loved it. Food was nothing less than fantastic!! I love this place. Great service great drinks and a funky atmosphere. If you like Glowbal you will like West Oak. A new Chic gem. Try it! I am going back.!"
Dined on 9/8/2013
My friend and I went to West Oak
for the first time prior to a concert. First impression of the menu was the impressive variety. Not a big menu but diverse. To start we decided to share an order of Chinois Prawns. These were absolutely amazing! As was the beet salad that consisted of ruby and orange beets and greens placed on a bed of goat cheese cream... yummy! My friend had grilled free range chicken caesar salad and I had the beef carpaccio. The former was good (particularly tasty was the maple bacon) but the carpaccio was just ok. The aioli was bland and the meat a bit stringy. I shared how fantastic the prawns and beet salad was to our server Stephanie but also let her know about the carpaccio as an FYI. She took it off the bill. Wow!"
Dined on 9/7/2013
This is a beautiful restaurant
serving really good food. I'm not sure why there's not more of a buzz but I'm defiantly recommending it to everyone I know. A very well rounded menu, something for all tastes and resonanly priced for the quality! we did not leave hungry! desert was great too! The signature cocktails are fab as well."
Dined on 9/1/2013
To be fair, we were the only ones
at the restaurant so our service was amazing and friendly. We picked West Oak because it's walking distance to BC Place and we were heading to a game. We sat outside on a gorgeous sunny day and really enjoyed it. The food was good and lots of options on the menu - my favorite part was the baked-to-order cookies! We would come here again."
Dined on 8/17/2013
Patio, gorgeous interior, larger
group seating availability, bar, sustainable/Oceanwise/grain fed menu options, this place has it all. Including, a trendy club in the back when you are ready to take your night to the next level. We have been to West Oak and tried patio seating, bar seating, restaurant seating and have always enjoyed lovely food with great service. You can use Open Table for convienieniant reservations."
Dined on 7/21/2013
West Oak has done a nice job of
reusing the recently renovated Chinois space. We decided to have drinks in the bar and wait for a patio table, the patio is pleasant, perhaps a bit cramped. Service was very good, everything arrived hot to the table and the presentation was really nice. The mains (halibut, burger) were excellent and our sides, broccoli with bacon and the fries were good as well. Prices seemed reasonable for the calibre of the food and service. Will definitely return soon!"
Dined on 6/30/2013
Food took a long time, portions
weren't filling. The food was average didn't have a wow factor. Food was underseasoned and over priced. The space is nice but it was loud in there. Service was mediocre -more so casual fine dining"
Dined on 6/29/2013
The food was fantastic, but the
service was OK. After we finished our meal we were deciding if we wanted to get dessert and we figured that our server would give of 10 minutes to decide. She came by 30 minutes later."
Dined on 6/22/2013
There were 5 of us and we were
greeted in such a welcoming fashion as we entered. The manager and all wait-staff were so helpful and friendly. I had the Sablefish (melted in my mouth), the Brussels sprouts and bacon (like no other Brussels sprouts I've ever encountered- incredibly delicious - to die for). Others in my party had the salmon ("excellent"), lamb shank ( perfectly done and falling right off the bone tender, tenderloin - succulent, cooked perfectly to order. Everyone in our party cannot say enough about the Brussels sprouts and the mocha-java creme brûlée."
Dined on 6/11/2013
I chose to have the 12oz striploin
steak which turned out to be a very good choice. It was cooked exactly as i desired, and the meat literally melted in my mouth. One of the best steaks I have ever had. My girlfriend had the halibut, but it was not quite up to the same standard as the steak, so she left a little disappointed."
