Diner Reviews
  • "Went on a date here. Ordered drinks and apps as meals, like tapas. Really good food, the green beans, the shrimp the sliders, all real good. Only remark on the shrimp was that we ordered them twice, because we likely them so much, but they were a bit less than hot when served. Great craft beer list and good mixed drinks. We'll be back."

  • "Throughly enjoyed the food. The "Baang Shrimp" appetizer was excellent. Stir fry entree was great, and my husband loved the risotto."

  • "I feel bad knocking this restaurant, others may love it. It is not the type of place we usually go. The portions were small and pricey and took forever to be served. In their defense the steak my husband had was tender and tasty. I had scallops which were good but they were on top of mashed cauliflower which was in our opinion gross."

  • "Have dined here numerous times for brunch, lunch and dinner and it never disappoints. Staff is friendly and on-point. Food is fresh, delicious and creative. Selections are diverse. Recently had yummy6 A neighborhood gem that should not be overlooked. The location is its detriment because it is in a strip mall with many empty buildings, but once you find it, you will be back."

  • "great food-lousy service. food was innovative, high quality ingredients, great taste. Service was done by messily dressed kids who just did not care. Slow, slovenly, uncaring"

  • "This restaurant offers an interesting menu and choices which include vegetarian & vegan. We have always found the food very good and were not disappointed on this visit. Just be prepared to spend because the prices are a little high."

  • "Even though the servers called in missing...lol, the place still managed. The food is excellent, friendly atmosphere, what's not to love - I love the place. The pre-fix dinner was great. Thank you again for a wonderful time."

  • "Exotic Menu. Boutique Brewery Beers. The wait staff was insufficient for the customers present. The delay between courses was extensive."

  • "Organic produce, grass fed meat, no soda, and everything was delicious. There should be more places like this. Will be going back, and often."

  • "I had been to West East Bistro for a networking event and had the opportunity to try some of the food. Everything was so wonderful that I went back yesterday with my family. We are all making a strong attempt to eat healthier, and still enjoy tasty and varied meals. West East certainly fulfilled those needs! The meals are very unique, spices perfectly executed, and the choices are unlike so many other restaurants in my area. The paintings on the walls are beautiful and eye-catching, and we found ourselves continually looking at them and talking about them. They have recently decided not to sell soda, and I applaud them for it. Take your family - you will be very happy that you did."

  • "Very interesting menu of natural foods excellently prepared. After one visit, we are hooked and wll become regulars. Also, they have an extensive selection of Gluten Free options...including desserts!!"

  • "The variety of tasty, creative appetizers makes grazing a treat, and brings us back for more! Main courses are equally interesting and delicious. A gracious host and attentive service complete the picture at this excellent restaurant!"

  • "What can I say that I have not said before. The food is great, the wine list is good, well stocked bar, and now they are serving a juice bar instead of soda, which is great. You must try them all. If you like spicy, try the bang bang shrimp and/or the gumbo. If you are into just appetizers, try them all, I did! The decor is nice and the paintings are fantastic. See if you can name them all. Bet you can't."

  • "About the only positive about this restaurant for our group was the decor. Prices high for area. Food not impressive."

  • "The staff at this restaurant was extremely personable, professional and helpful. It would be a great place to go for a low key outing. Not the type of place to go on a special occasion. I had the marinated bistro steak and it was excellent."

  • "The food was delicious and of high quality. The service was excellent as well. We enjoyed the pot stickers, scallops and steak. The carrot cake was great. We liked that everything was organic and we'll definitely go back."

  • "Music was too loud. Restaurant was much too expensive!!!!"

  • "It was one of my worst experience dinning out! It took 15 minutes before somebody even acknowledge us after we we're seated. The waiter who never introduced himself was so inexperience and didn't look like he was old enough to work there. When we finally got our appetizers the jay's pot sticklers were hard on the outside (almost like the were frozen first) and the filling was just ok. The tuna tartare was all vegetables and onions with very little tuna. My husband ordered the duck which was good but not great and I had the scallops with a cauliflower purée wasn't impressed. The cauliflower purée was flavorless. I was very excited to try this restaurant since it got great reviews but was extremely disappointed! Music was the only good thing"

  • "We had a nice dinner at West East Bistro. We ordered drinks soon after we were seated, but it took a long time for them to arrive. Also, one of the ordered beers from the menu was not available (last time we were here that happened with the wine we ordered). But the food was exactly as described and very tasty. A little pricey for the portion size, but enjoyable. We will return."

  • "West-East serves all natural food. They take special care to insure that what you are eating is the best quality. The meat is all-natural, the veggies are organic, they have a Resident Health Coach for crying out loud. If you want to eat out and feel good about what you eat then this is the place. I had the "Rocking Moroccan” venison short loin and my wife had Black Truffle Dusted Diver Scallops. Not a morsel was left on our plates; absolutely delicious. TL;DR - East-West Bistro is fantastic."

  • "I been wanting to come here for quite some time. So I bought the groupon that was available. My friend and I got the dumplings and bang bang shrimp as apps. Both were good. And lobster Mac and cheese and lamb chops as entree. Everything was really good. I plan on returning. I would say though the portions are a little small for entrees. Oh and dessert was great and everything is fresh and organic"

  • "We were four people and where not happy with the food. The prices were high for the hicksville area and the portions were tiny. Will not return . I go out to dinner a lot and this was the worst."

  • "My husband and I have eaten here 4 times, twice alone and twice with friends. The food is good and fresh, but the portion size is small. The men complain that it is not enough food for the price. Bread should be offered at the beginning of the meal. Last time my husband ordered the salmon and it didn't come with a starch. He was still hungry after an appetizer, entrée and a shared dessert with me. Our service has ranged from excellent to fair. This restaurant has the potential to be great, but isn't yet."

  • "thanx to amazon local, i purchased a voucher and we made our way in. i try to put good quality food on the table at home and was impressed with the fare offered on west east bistro's menu. we have been trying to eat grass-fed meats, locally grown produce and have even been getting our eggs at a local farm. sooooo you can imagine how anxious i was to try this restaurant. our meal was excellent from beginning to end. my husband said his filet mignon was the most tender he has ever had. my asian burger topped with an egg and duck bacon was amazing. we both had dessert, something I never do but i couldn't pass up the indian panna cotta w/ saffron; and i am sooooo glad i didn't. it was excellent !!!! looking forward to returning soon. • "The menu is diverse and all the food healthy. My meal was superb; Duck Pate to start (Well served and surrounded with fine meats), Venison finely prepared (Love Venison) and desert, yum - yum. Forget the view outside, the decor inside works in a posh Manhattan style decor on Long Island. Looking forward to my next trip."

  • "Good food but severely over priced . We enjoy tasting a lot of dishes. We ordered salad and then four appetizers. The staff delivered two scallops for $ 14, 3 ribs for $ 13. 4 dumplings for $ 9 and 2 Pot stickers for $ 9. Need i say more."

  • "We weren't sure what to expect when we pulled up to this bistro, nestled in a strip mall in Hicksville. Walked in to live guitarist playing, which was a nice touch. The menu was very diverse, though Asian inspired for most dishes. Being a vegetarian, I was impressed that there was an entire vegetarian menu page. They also labeled GF for those who are gluten-free. Our food was top notch. The portions are sort of small - but probably more in line with what a portion should be, rather than the super-sizes we are used to being served in America. Would DEFINITELY return again! And for a special treat....order the Carrot Cake!"

  • "While the food was good, the service was really slow and how can a restaurant be out of the signature dish- a burger? For the whole experience, I found the prices high while the experience did not warrant it. The appetizer portions were good but very small. This could be a great meal with everything being organic, but they really need to work on many things here. "

  • "West East is a storefront. It has no soundproofing so that conversation at a table of four was a challenge. It was worse when a too loud but talented duo was playing music and singing. That being said the food was amazing. The menu was one creative choice after another. Our server was sweet and attentive. I will return but the noise..."

  • "My second visit in a week (read previous review). This time with friends and it was even better! This time our dishes were mixed beet salad, diver scallops, venison, lamb, potstickers, and mahi mahi. All of which were outstanding. Great seasonings, explosion of flavor in your mouth! Outstanding! There was a very good duo singing on Saturday night as well."

  • "A great surprise! All vibrant new dishes full of flavor. All organic veggies and humanely raised meats. Gluten free options as well. Great presentations. A "Must try" menu to wake you up from the usual! Ours consisted of Apps of Jays Pot stickers thinly wrapped veal, ginger, scallions, oyster sauce, soy/cilantro/chili dip and delicious, diver scallops perfectly cooked with cauliflower puree, parmesan crisp, cabernet/syrah butter, soup was bombay style gumbo with chicken, wild shrimp, chorizo, cumin, garam masala, so good! Entrees were rack of lamb roast with roschti potatoes, cucumber raita and the evening special of seared Ahi tuna, fresh, cooked perfectly, with fresh horseradish and ginger and a soy dip. Everything was so enjoyable. "

  • "The food was great it's a shame I can't say the same about the service. We waited a really long time for all of our courses. Not everyone's dish was brought out at the same time, had to ask several times just to get a refill on our water."
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "A little pricy, but great food - the pad thai was excellent, as was the amazing take on rice pudding. The gumbo was also amazing - I could easily have 2 bowls as a meal. The beet dish could have had more lettuce and cheese...and beets. The pot stickers were great as well. All that said, $150 for 3 people was high, even for a 4 course meal. Three gripes: coffee and tea didn't come with dessert, but after; it took quite a while between courses; and there is only 1 bathroom stall for each sex. The farmer's market is a great idea though."
