Diner Reviews
  • "We need more places like this in the area, I was happy to see an organic restaurant doing well in Hicksville."

  • "what a find! the menu is eclectic yet humble and honest. great wine list - organic all natural ingredients - live music on weekends. great value too."

  • "Sunday brunch was totally satisfiying. What a great deal: appetizer, entree, dessert and unlimited mimosas/bellinis/kir royale for $20! Outstanding service & our waiter, Sean, could not have been nicer or more attentive. The kitchen even accommodated my sister's food allergies. They genuinely care for their customers' satisfaction. The food is fresh and flavorful. I started with smoked salmon over hash browns, then steak and eggs (perfection) and for dessert, a duo of raspberry & chocolate mousse. Great way to end the meal. We've eaten there for lunch and dinner as well, and it never disappoints. Bonus: the food they serve is all-natural (grass-fed/hormone-free meats, sustainable seafood, organic produce). Highly recommended."

  • "This is a repeat visit and we were even more impressed than the first visit, and we really enjoyed that one as well! Food is so tasty and fresh. My only complaint, and it's not really a complaint, is that there was not enough vegetarian appetizers on the menu. However we were told that more vegetarian food was being added to the menu. We love the place and intend to return on a regular basis! We wish them continued success!"

  • "We really enjoyed our meal here. It is a very cool place, there was live music and very attentive service without being annoying. The food was fantastic, with each course getting better. The dessert was amazing and I usually wouldn't get dessert. I would highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "I love that there is a local restaurant that is serving organic, grass fed, clean food!"

  • "I never write reviews, but feel like it wouldn't be fair to others if I didn't. For the price, the amount of food you get is not justified. Food was bland, but enjoyed the whole organic/healthy concept. I rated service good because they were tentative and nice. They seemed swamped, but they appeared to be new/under-experienced so I can cop it up to a learning curve. I won't go back and wouldn't suggest it to my friends/family, but it wasn't for my taste - doesn't mean it's not for others."

  • "Didn't know anyone who had dined here - took a chance because the menu looked unusual & the ingredients are fresh, organic, hormone-free, etc. Everything was flavorful & delicious. Service was very accommodating. Interesting menu, well-prepared cuisine in a very casual ambiance."

  • "Tucked in a small strip mall. Food and service always great. Great selection of meat, and seafood. Nice specials"

  • "The food was good but there were many issues. Firstly, I always check a menu prior to my first time visit. My husband is a mouth cancer survivor and has trouble with many foods. When checking the menu, it seemed OK, but when we got there, there was a totally different menu, not much he could eat! The waiter said, oh yes, our menu changes frequently. We ordered a salad, good, not great, and before they removed the plates, the busboy (I think) came out with our main dishes. Can't they clear the table before adding dishes? My fish was very good. All my husband had was a soup which he said was good but he needed more. Oh yes, the portions were quite small."

  • "This strip mall located American restaurant with Asian and spiritual twists is terrific. Being watched over by paintings of the Dalai Lama and Mother Teresa add to the feeling of health and peacefulness. An Appetizer of Asian spiced wet rub Pork Ribs were not only a hot at our table but many of those around us. The cod special over a mash was tasty but could have used a bit more zing. The paella had large clams that were a bit chewy, the mussels, salmon and saffron rice were all very good. A Dessert of Bananas Foster was very nice but a bit under sweetened, could of used more caramellyness. Wine servie by the glass was excellent as was the decafs at the end of the meal."

  • "I've been coming here every other month. The food is great with a different kind of flare. I usually go very hungry and sample almost all on the menu. If you love food, this is the place for you. This is not a family style type but well plated. Menu changes so keep an eye on it. They even have special days for special menus. Live music too,"

  • "I'm the last person in the world who would have cared if a restaurant was organic or all natural . In fact I naively probably would have assumed that I would not have liked the food. West East had such great and flavorful food i was in shock . The shaking beef, okra , ribs, lobster Mac n cheese , salmon and mini Reuben's were all great! (We all tasted each other's meal) The most impressive meal was my 5 year olds daughter, who is pickier than most, she got a hamburger that had to be 10oz and almost are the entire thing! Fortunately there was enough left for me to try and I'll be ordering that next time because it was one of the best burgers I have ever had."

  • "Amazing attention to sourcing. Just about everything is organic, seasonal and gmo-free. The menu is full of so many delicious choices that we all shared in order to taste as many things as possible, including the best Pad Thai I have ever eaten. I'd go back just for that."

  • "Saturday night , prime time, out of Sapporo beer (Asian influence cuisine), they also out of the entrée I ordered on main menu. Service terribly slow. Waiter was excellent, because was under a lot of pressure. Ordered drinks, appetizers, main course and shared dessert. Everything was delicious, but portions were very small for price point."

  • "So the food was very good, farm to table proud, eclectic mix of asian and Western foods. Very attentive service. Maybe went on an off night, but missing many menu items (Friday night though at 7pm kind of unacceptable). No lobster for the lobster mac and cheese, etc. It was also very very loud for a small place. No need for a guitar soloist... Also, portions were TINY and extremely overpriced for the size. Unfortunate bc good flavor. Fried rice with shrimp should not cost $27. Won't be going back unless prices are reduced."

  • "We reserved a table and arrived on time. We asked to seat next to the window, but the host refuse to give us the table, saying that it is reserved to someone else. (I guess some guests are more important) The table was pretty tight and we didn't feel comfortable. We ordered the food about 10 min later. We received the appetizers about 40 min later I saw other tables that arrived after us and received the appetizers before us. Then for our main course we waited another 40 min. And another 20 min for the dessert. We ended up eating dinner for about 2 hours! I have to say that the food was DELICIOUS! Superb! I felt that there are customers that are prioritized and getting better service! Again, the food was amazing! but the service was poor."

  • "We love West East Bistro! We've eaten here several times and are always happy with the food as well as the service. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We love that they offer seasonal menu items and offer 100% grass fed meat and locally grown produce. Their Valentines a Day prix fix menu was wonderful and the price was great especially since it included a mojito to start off and an after dinner glass of wine or port with dessert as well. We recommend this restaurant very highly!"

  • "Went during VDay. Was only able to order from Pre-Fixe menu. Did not have one of the entrees on menu so they accommodated for a different one. Wish i couldve ordered from regular menu so i can try different things. Poor service. Took over 30 min to have waiter come and greet us and serve us water. After taking order, it took another 30 min for appetizer to come out. On top of that, they had to send it back to kitchen b/c the order was wrong so it took another 20 min for me to eat the appetizer, meanwhile my date was already done. Entree was good. Dessert was horrible. The ice cream melted all over the plate when it got to my table. Waitress said sorry it melted, it's still good, and walked away. Unacceptable."

  • "I have been to this restaurant for lunch several times in the past & thought the food & service to be excellent, so I made a reservation for Valentine's Day dinner. It wasn't until we got there that we found out they were only serving a limited set menu for Valentine's Day which cost $45 per person. It included an alcoholic beverage to start & finish the meal, but neither my husband nor I drink alcohol, & there was no reduction of cost for our substitution of green tea. We had several appetizer, entree, & dessert choices & they all sounded so wonderful that it was difficult to choose so hubby & I ordered different items & shared them. The duck was absolutely outstanding. There was live music which created a wonderful atmosphere."

  • "First time dinner for two. We ate off the Valentines Day menu. Did not enjoy Oysters Rockefeller. Oyster had no meat to them. Steak was tepid but tasty. Duck ok. Not special. Wine, very good. I had the Pinot Noir and we finished with Moscato sweet wine. Very good. We enjoyed the figs for dessert. The music was excellent and made the evening stand out. The waiters and hostesses really care about your dinning experience."

  • "The food was excellent; the service was wonderful, Sean is a great waiter, very accommodating and helpful. Although not everyone in our group are "fond" of Asian Fusion cuisine, they were certainly able to find things that were tasty. Every dish had its own distinct and wonderful flavor. The only down side was the noise level. Its a small restaurant and they really did not need the music. Everyone was talking over the music which lead to an even louder noise level. It was a relief when the musicians went on break. We were also seated near the door which also made it somewhat cold each time a patron entered or existed. Even with the few downsides, the food and service definitely make it a reason to go."

  • "Starting off with the wine by the glass and bottle list were both great and had plenty of choices.. Food was excellent started off with the shrimp appetizer which had a nice spice to it and the butternut squash soup. Entrees got even better with the Lamb Shank over risotto. Very tender with great flavor.. Can't wait to come back for the ostrich burger.. Service was great and made sure they brought a candle out for my girlfriends birthday. Thanks for the great evening!!"

  • "The noise level here was deafening- we couldn't hear each other let alone the waitress. One of our dinners did not arrive without any real explanation and it took a while to come out. The soup had to be sent back since it was horrible. I would have thought that they would have tried to make it up to us, but nothing. We will not be returning."

  • "The food was very good. I wish there was more of a variety in the salad choices. I had fish and it was very fresh and spices complimented it very nicely. The services and hostess were very friendly. They also had a wonderful singer who definitely added to the whole atmosphere. It was a wonderful evening."

  • "We enjoyed the sunset special which gave you choice of soup or salad, an entrée and desert for $18.00. It was a very good deal. We ordered the pot stickers additionally as an appetizer and they were delicious. I had the salad and the dressing was some type of mustard vinaigrette- loved it. Had the pad tai for my entrée and it was filled with chicken, shrimp and vegetables. Very well done. For desert my companion had the tiramisu and I had the gelato. Overall it was a very good meal but even more impressive the staff was extremely friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend this place and will be going back."

  • "We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant. The menu was so interesting, but turned out pedestrian and therefore overpriced. Jasmine rice in the mackarel dish was terrible- mushy yet dry, poor quality. The grass-fed was overcooked (ordered medium-rare) and therefore really dry. Service was poor: Made a reservation, yet clear if we had not arrived 10 min early, they would have seated the group that came in after us who also had a reservation or the group after them without. Our reservation was w/in the 1st 15 min they opened and we would have had to wait at least 45 minutes to an hour before they had a table as the two groups after us did. Service was slow, two waitresses for the restaurant. Hostess did nothing to help."
