Wendell’s Steak and Seafood Restaurant is the Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort and Casino's signature dining establishment located on the 4th floor. Wendell's features succulent dishes of fresh seafood, aged steaks, scrumptious desserts and offer an impressive wine list. The restaurant and lounge feature spectacular views of Sierra Blanca, the Sacramento Mountains, Lake Mescalero and our 18-hole Championship Golf Course.

Wendell's Lounge is adjacent to the restaurant where we offer delicious appetizers along with our signature martinis, margaritas and cocktails.

  • "We had been wanting to eat at Wendell's since the first time we visited Inn Of The Mountain Gods. We chose it for our anniversary and were not disappointed! Great cocktails, the onion soup is incredible, steaks excellent, generous wine pour. We were very surprised by a large plate of to-die-for chocolate cake and cheesecake at the end of our meal! I can't wait to go back just to have a larger portion of the soup with a salad and a basket of their bread, which is some of the best I've had."

  • "We ate at Wendell's during spring break 2014; our family of 5 and our friend's party of 5. The service was slow from the moment we sat down (we had a reservation). It appears they were understaffed as the waiter and service was consistently slow. I don't remember exactly when our food arrived, but it was after 2 hours. When I talked to the manager, she acted put out and was unwilling to make it right by comp'ing dessert."

  • "The staff was overwhelmed. Sequences of events were strange. The bread and oil did not come until the meal and well after the appetizer. The oyster Rockefeller appetizer was cold, not luke warm, but still tasted somewhat ok. The crab was pricey $69, but good. The asparagus side was cold which made it unpalatable. My wife did enjoy the Ribeye and loaded bake potato. Our bottle of Chardonnay was good; however, it would have been nice if it were cooler as opposed to getting warm while sitting on the table. I suppose you are asking did we complain. No way, we were lucky to see our mad scrambling waiter and god knows he and the rest of the staff could not handle any sort of setback."

Waiter was unhelpful and obviously performed only the bare minimum that his job required of him; although he was polite enough and friendly to my little brother. I had a salad, which was deflated and hardly fresh, and my Grandmother's soup was delivered cold, however my other guests had no complaints about their food."

  • "We booked a table for 5 for New Year's Eve for the family. We're. Here on vacation and it seemed the nicest in town. We were seated promptly. A good thing as we have 3 teens and the lounge waiting area is reserved for only over 21. We would have just stood around. We ordered 2 appetizers and drinks. The appetizers came out before we even got water! We asked many times. Finally drinks and water arrived but we were done with the apps. We ordered our main course. My wife's steak was cold and one of the kids got the wrong order. Those were sent back. Finally came but the other 3 of us were done. It was not worth the price. The food is average and service is just not what one would expect when your bill hits 60 a person. We would never go back."

  • "This was our 3rd time in 2 years dining at Wendell's and the quality of the food and service has deteriorated drastically each time! Ironically, Gabriel, I believe that's his name, has been our server each time, an older, Hispanic gentleman with glasses. This last time we went with two other couples and one of them ordered his steak medium rare. When he cut in to the steak there wasn't even a touch of pink in the middle. When our friend kindly brought it to the servers attention, the server argued that it was medium rare! When several of us finally spoke up the server took the steak back to the kitchen mumbling under his breath. The hollandaise sauce on the asparagus was also lumpy and had a skin on it like it sat under the warmer too long."

  • "My husband and I stopped at Wendells before going to the concert. We wanted the delicious tortilla soup and homemade bread. It was just so happens that the bread was not ready to be served. The management made the decided to not charge us for our meal. It was just one of the ways that Wendells goes above and beyond to serve their customers."

  • "We ordered: sea cakes appetizer, caesar salad for two, surf and turf petite filet with crab legs and the Ranchers rib eye steak. The sea cakes were cold in the middle so we sent them back. The second time around they were still cool in the middle. We were told they were busy and couldn't prepare the caesar salad tableside tonight ... so we got it plated ... the lettuce was poor quality, the cheese was sliced very thick and the dressing was bland. As far as the entrees, the crab legs were not hot and steamy, they were dry and cool. The filet was not medium ... it was quite rare. The Ranchers rib eye was 30% tender ... and the rest was tough. The only items that came out hot were the au gratin potato and the baked potato sides."

  • "Ordered a Steak Medium and it was very well done. Was told they would order another one but it would take another 20 minutes. A medium steak should not cook 20 minutes. Also ordered prime rib and it was just ok. These are two cuts of meat we eat often. Way over priced for the quality of food we received."

My wife and I have celebrated our anniversary at Wendell's for the past five year, but I'm not sure that this will not be our last anniversary dinner at Wendell's. For that I'm, sorely disappointed. We had looked forward to to this anniversary dinner in the past."

  • "I had read mixed reviews on this restaurant so I actually wasn't very excited about trying it. We were staying at the resort and I wasn't feeling very well so we decided to stay close. I was actually pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent! The ambiance was nice as well. Live music was an added treat and not a distraction like it can be if not done well. I'm quite a foodie and the food wasn't very impressive to me. Our main courses were done well, but the sides and appetizer left a lot to be desired. I still give it 4 stars because the service and ambience were so good:)"

  • "Unlike your chain restaurants that sell huge portions of mediocre food, at Wendell's the portions were just right and the flavors were outstanding. We didn't have an appetizer, just the main entree with a salad, and we were satisfied. No room for dessert. Patty was our waitress, and she did and excellent job; not too hurried but always around make sure we were doing fine. We were eating before a concert; and she made sure we got there in time, without feeling rushed."

  • "I read some not so complimentary reviews for Wendell's prior to our arrival. They were all wrong. Sorry folks this is a notable establishment. From the greeting to the exit this establishment is first class. Of all the service and food we have experienced all over the country this place deserves kudos. Friendly greeting, service top notch and the food was excellent! What struck us most was the speed. Our salads arrived litterally within moments of ordering. Our main course - Filet Oscar - arrived with perfect timing at the compleation of our salads. Everything was fresh, hot and done to perfection. Oh, the live background music - Acoustic Guitarist Mike Francis made the moment great for reflection. And the View - a Gift! Go!"
