Wendell’s Steak and Seafood Restaurant is the Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort and Casino's signature dining establishment located on the 4th floor. Wendell's features succulent dishes of fresh seafood, aged steaks, scrumptious desserts and offer an impressive wine list. The restaurant and lounge feature spectacular views of Sierra Blanca, the Sacramento Mountains, Lake Mescalero and our 18-hole Championship Golf Course.

Wendell's Lounge is adjacent to the restaurant where we offer delicious appetizers along with our signature martinis, margaritas and cocktails.

  • "I have eaten there multiple times when I visit and this will be the last each time I go there is always a wait for drinks and food. This time it took 15 minutes for our drinks and even refills and our appetizers came cold they took so long my crab cakes where cold. We asked the waiter what is taking so long he said we have to take care of the big table of 12 first. I asked why we where here first and he said they are friends with the manager. So finally my dinner arrived steak was good but asparagus and mash ju dour was cold. Not to mention my fiancé and her order of her mixed drink took 24 min to get because he said the bar was taking care of the big table lol. So all in all where done eating there!"

  • "The wait person, though polite, tried to rush us to order with the excuse that the dining room was busy with only four other tables seated at 6 pm. There should be a dress code (dress casual) enforced during dinner hours. People with body parts hanging from ill fitting clothing and bathing does not stimulate the appetite. My very pricey lobster was rubbery on one end and undercooked on the other. The steak was excellent. The dinning room even not filled was very noisy."

  • "The Father's Day Special just seemed made for my husband, NY Strip Steak, Baked Potato, Asparagus and a Salad. With a bargain price also! The view anywhere in the restaurant is great. It is on the lake side of the resort. The view was great and good food - the weather was great for the day trip to Ruidoso, definitely worth the 1 3/4 hour drive to get there!"

  • "We had a very nice experience, especially because our waiter was very attentive in spite of the business of the evening. It was so busy because of the holiday weekend . Thank goodness we'd made reservations. I enjoy going to brunch on Sundays because the restaurant is beautiful and the pricing for breakfast and lunch is much more reasonable than the dinner menu, which is fine. I think dinner pricing is very high. If it's going to be that high everything has to be perfect. It's hard to be perfect. Like I said the waiter and hostess' good attitudes made up for the wait for food. I think the high dinner cost keeps people away during the day because they don't know how reasonable the earlier menu is. Overall good experience and good ambiance."

  • "We had been wanting to eat at Wendell's since the first time we visited Inn Of The Mountain Gods. We chose it for our anniversary and were not disappointed! Great cocktails, the onion soup is incredible, steaks excellent, generous wine pour. We were very surprised by a large plate of to-die-for chocolate cake and cheesecake at the end of our meal! I can't wait to go back just to have a larger portion of the soup with a salad and a basket of their bread, which is some of the best I've had."

It appears they were understaffed as the waiter and service was consistently slow. I don't remember exactly when our food arrived, but it was after 2 hours. When I talked to the manager, she acted put out and was unwilling to make it right by comp'ing dessert."

The oyster Rockefeller appetizer was cold, not luke warm, but still tasted somewhat ok. The crab was pricey $69, but good. The asparagus side was cold which made it unpalatable. My wife did enjoy the Ribeye and loaded bake potato. Our bottle of Chardonnay was good; however, it would have been nice if it were cooler as opposed to getting warm while sitting on the table. I suppose you are asking did we complain. No way, we were lucky to see our mad scrambling waiter and god knows he and the rest of the staff could not handle any sort of setback."

  • "We booked a table for 5 for New Year's Eve for the family. We're. Here on vacation and it seemed the nicest in town. We were seated promptly. A good thing as we have 3 teens and the lounge waiting area is reserved for only over 21. We would have just stood around. We ordered 2 appetizers and drinks. The appetizers came out before we even got water! We asked many times. Finally drinks and water arrived but we were done with the apps. We ordered our main course. My wife's steak was cold and one of the kids got the wrong order. Those were sent back. Finally came but the other 3 of us were done. It was not worth the price. The food is average and service is just not what one would expect when your bill hits 60 a person. We would never go back."

  • "This was our 3rd time in 2 years dining at Wendell's and the quality of the food and service has deteriorated drastically each time! Ironically, Gabriel, I believe that's his name, has been our server each time, an older, Hispanic gentleman with glasses. This last time we went with two other couples and one of them ordered his steak medium rare. When he cut in to the steak there wasn't even a touch of pink in the middle. When our friend kindly brought it to the servers attention, the server argued that it was medium rare! When several of us finally spoke up the server took the steak back to the kitchen mumbling under his breath. The hollandaise sauce on the asparagus was also lumpy and had a skin on it like it sat under the warmer too long."

The management made the decided to not charge us for our meal. It was just one of the ways that Wendells goes above and beyond to serve their customers."

  • "We ordered: sea cakes appetizer, caesar salad for two, surf and turf petite filet with crab legs and the Ranchers rib eye steak. The sea cakes were cold in the middle so we sent them back. The second time around they were still cool in the middle. We were told they were busy and couldn't prepare the caesar salad tableside tonight ... so we got it plated ... the lettuce was poor quality, the cheese was sliced very thick and the dressing was bland. As far as the entrees, the crab legs were not hot and steamy, they were dry and cool. The filet was not medium ... it was quite rare. The Ranchers rib eye was 30% tender ... and the rest was tough. The only items that came out hot were the au gratin potato and the baked potato sides."

Also ordered prime rib and it was just ok. These are two cuts of meat we eat often. Way over priced for the quality of food we received."
