Diner Reviews
  • "Had the opportunity to reunite with a dear friend and former roommate from our Chicago days...she now lives in Brooklyn, NYC--so was trying to think of somewhere local that was really great for our far too short celebration! Had heard wonderful things about the Welshfield Inn, and decided to give it a try! She LOVED it! And so did I! Our waitress was warm, sweet, and helpful. And $5 burger Monday?! Who could ask for more! My friend later said to me, "I don't know what they did to those burgers--if they put a stick of butter on them or what!" So yes, the burgers did not disappoint! Neither did the fries or the pickles...or the glasses of Moscato we enjoyed for dessert!"

  • "We have dined at the Welshfield several times and plan to go back many more times. The menu is interesting. The food is delicious. The service is great. The outdoor dining area is beautiful. We are never disappointed and would highly recommend it to couples, families and groups."

  • "My husband and I have eaten at the Welshfield several times for various meals. There is never a bad meal here, but brunch on the porch is our favorite. It is delicious and the atmosphere is wonderful!"

  • "I loved the relaxed feel of this place – fabulous, scenic, very romantic setting from the front door to the patio. Great and friendly service. Fabulous and affordable dishes. Exceptional and unique specials. Serving staff and kitchen paid special attention to preparing dishes as requsted. Service was a bit fast, but well timed. Wines were affordable."

  • "Delightful summer evening dinner with auntie. Had our choice of inside or patio dining. Our waiter was available to us, but not hovering. And the food... oh yeah!! Lobster risotto, sea scallops, and their Thursday 2 for $40 special that included one app, 2 dinners, and a whole bottle of wine! Great food, great atmosphere, attentive service, comfortable and enjoyable. Couldn't ask for anything more."

  • "Love the atmosphere, great tasting food, excellent presentation of food, wonderful service. Patio dining is very relaxing. Inside may be a little loud with echoing in some rooms. Overall experience was outstanding."

  • "We had dinner in the wonderful patio with a perfect weather, great service and food. Luckily we finished before it got dark and before the mosqitoes would come. But there were candles with citro lights."

  • "Worth the drive for some old-style country dining. The menu has old classics that you might expect in a family diner, but they all are modernized, making the experience a lot more fun."

  • "We love coming here, and have introduced many friends already. The stuffed french toast and eggs Benedict are excellent !"

  • "Love the patio-other than getting very buggy later into our meal(not the restaraunts' fault)"

  • "Met friends there for lunch and had a grand meal and a wonderful time together. The Chicken pot pie was outstanding."

  • "Six of us dined together on the outdoor patio. The weather, the food, the wine and the company was perfect. But the best part of the experience was our waitress Liz....she was not only attentive, but fun and personable. She is a gem!"

  • "Although it was a cloudy day, we enjoyed the patio dining. The menu selection was good, offering a variety-something for everyone. The waitress was efficient, without being intrusive. I would have appreciated the food being hot, but the temperature may have been a result of the outside dining. The only food that was hot, was the chicken pot pie. Still, the food was good and I would go back."

  • "We enjoyed our lunch, my burger was delicious. My sisters had other lunch entrees and they were also very pleased. Our waiter did a great job. It got a little noisy but it was a busy lunch-time crowd."

  • "Dining here occasionally since the early 80's and it has never disappointed. Chix Piccata tender & tasty, tilapia cooked perfectly & flavorful, pot roast like home. Pork should always great. Drinks generous, food portions appropriate except pot roast - maybe add 15% more meat. Substitutions NEVER a problem. Delicious apps & deserts - save room or share gut don't miss either. Server knowledgeable, attentive and good sense of humor. Dining room overlooking patio annoyingly loud but love food so we take it. (in our 50's) Can't speak of other rooms except bar which we often opt for because very comfortable and not loud. Would love to sit outside but always seem to be there on bad weather days. It's a 45 min drive for us but worth it every time."

  • "We were there Sat evening and a wedding was going on under a tent. The Cold Duck Salad was almost uneatable. The Maui Maui that two of our guests had was so drenched in red peppers they had to scrape it off. The 'wasabi' mashed potatoes were not blended correctly...way over the 'taste' level. Needless to say, we were all around disappointed."

  • " We have stopped here several times as we pass through this quaint town, or on a stop while on our bikes. Always delicious food and the Mackenzie Salad is AMAZING!!! (extra goat cheese always a plus). If you get a chance to stop by this location it is one of the groups flagships for sure!"

  • "Outdoor dining on a warm summer night does not get better then an evening at Welshfield Inn. We had great food and excellant service. Ended the evening with a chat with neighbors who also frequent Welshfield Inn. Great dining in a lovely outdoor setting."

  • "We dine at Welshfield quite often. This occasion we sat outside and had a lovely waitress. Everything was fine with the atmosphere...the food was not up to speed this time. My chopped salad tasted like it was day old. Normally, I love the chopped salad; this time I couldnt finish it. It was terrible: soggy, laden with dressing...it was a disappointment. My father ordered the lunch trio: soup, salad, sandwich. I wish I had a picture of his sandwich. The piece of meatloaf was MAYBE 2 inches X 2 inches. No sauce, nothing! His salad was a soggy mess as well. Lastly, our iced tea (normally delicious) was as dark as coffee, luke warm and tasted as though it too had sat overnight. Bad experience. No excuse!"

  • "This is the second time my husband and I have done Monday burger night. I reserved our table via my smart phone. Easy to do. We were taken to our table right away. Our server was there in a few seconds. The burgers were done to our medium well preference. Taste was excellent. The home made chips were swerved warm, fresh and tasty. The tomato and lettuce on the sandwich were fresh. Our desserts were as described. My raspberry cobbler was warm, tasted fresh and the ice cream frozen. My husbands peach cobbler the same. We enjoyed the desserts."

  • "Our overall experience was exceptionally pleasant! All of the staff, including the hostess, waitress and server, were very polite, friendly, and efficient. In short, we had a delightful dining experience. We will look forward to our next visit. Thanks to everyone for being most accommodating."

  • "We chose this for Father's Day. It was a good chose for a special occasion. Beautiful view on the patio. It was a perfect day. Food was good. Good service. We went here for Thanksgiving a few years ago and it was wonderful. We plan to try the Burger Night and the Thursday Dinners sound good too!"

  • "Welshfield Inn is a hidden gem. Top quality dishes, reasonably priced, are available for any palate. We highly recommend this out of the way restaurant for a memorable meal on the quieter side of life."

  • "Food was great! Unfortunately we were very disappointed in 2 things -- have been here before and these were non-issues. Maybe because it was 2 for $40 night. Room we were in for almost an hour(before our food came!) was incredibly noisy and loud -- never been in such a Lou environment -- like several tables almost hollering. Very non-relaxing!!! Food took almost an hour to come. Poor waitress very apologetic and of course neither was her fault. Finally couldn't take it anymore and we were moved just as our food came to a lovely, quiet, relaxing room where thank goodness we could enjoy the delicious meal. They need to do something about that noise level in that room, though!"

  • "The Welshfield Inn always treats us right on our anniversary starting with a complementary glass of champaigne and a dessert to share. The food and the service was outstanding and it was our good fortune to have our occasion coincide with their two for $40 night although we could not drink an entire bottle of wine. It was nice to go for a ride to the country and avoid the rat race of restaurants closer to home."

  • "Our first visit was an over the top pleasant surprise. You not only lived up to the reputation but you topped it. Eating outside was a special treat and both our meals were blue ribbon and most generous. What a great place to have enjoyed our anniversary dinner! We'll not only return but bring some friends to share the experience. Coincidently, a wedding reception next door supplied some special atmosphere music!"

  • "We were introduced to Welshfield Inn by our daughter and son-in-law, who discovered it while using a gift coupon to the Red Maple Inn in nearby Burton. It is located just a few miles south, on route 422. The setting is beautiful. With part of the building dating back to 1840, it is a historical setting. The patio and garden walk in the back only adds to the ambience. They have a very good wine selection and an adequate beer selection, though only one on tap. The menu is diverse, with food presented nicely, but not overdone just for appearance's sake. There are specials every night and I chose the perch over the prime rib. Service is timely and the price is surprisingly very reasonable. Reservations are recommended."

  • "The service and food were GREAT! The only thing I would change is while the Salmon and scallops were delicious, they were very salty."

  • "Service was good, fast and efficient. Entree for my wife which was Pot Roast was all Fat that was to be discarded by chef. No meat, just Fat over mash potatoes and gravy. When the Manager stated they cook their meat directly from the Cryovac after opening the package, seems the contents cook itself rather than having a Chef do the work. Terrible meal for my wife. I had the same meal which was delicious, must have come from a different "Cryovac"!!!!!!!"

  • "I believe our waitress was Chelsea, who had also just graduated from college. She was very patient with us. the food was great as it always is. We were seated right away in the corner as we were a large party. WE have nevere been disappointed at Welshfield. We will be back. Still eating the rolls..."

  • "I would love to return but did not feel that the food was worth the 25 minute drive and it's too bad because it's got great ambiance. Need to work on the flavor of the food - great selection of food items but taste was nothing too exciting. Service was marginal for not being busy. "

  • "We will definitely go back. Make sure you order the lobster rice side dish. Filet mignon was excellent and beef stew was too. "
