Diner Reviews
  • "Traveled past this restaurant many times and finally decided to try. Great food and pleasant staff. Sorry we didn't stop here long ago. Garden room has a scenic view and the wall of windows leaves one feeling as if they are outdoors. Wine list was extensive and the dinner menu provided for a range of tastes from seafood to pot pies. Did not feel rushed and the staff addressed our every need."

  • "Relaxing atmosphere for a small celebration. Two guests got the chicken pot pie because it was so good at the last visit. Chicken piccata was excellent. The cinnamon rolls are a treat. Never a bad meal at Welshfield."

  • "We were hoping for a quiet dinner. There was a large group here that night and they were very loud. There were kids running around, adults shouting, etc. For an $80 dinner we were disappointed."

  • "We do come her often but our recent visit was very disappointing. Our server either had way too many tables or her timing was off but we waiting and waiting to get serviced. I finally had to say to her that we would like to place our order. I think I was most shocked when the table of 7 got (who sat down way after us) got their food before we even order. When I saw their food coming is when I finally flagged our girl down. She just kept running around and every time she would our table she would say "i'll be with you in a minute". Very frustrating for a $99 meal. Also, maybe on Friday's during lent if people order the risotto you may want to mention that their is bacon in it. Just a suggestion."

  • "We thought we'd go for a weekend drive and enjoy a meal at the Welshfield Inn. The Inn itself is very nice with several rooms and the servers were attentive, The history about the Inn that was printed in the menu was the high point of our evening. We picked their Chopped Salad and Prime Rib and their French Onion Soup and Turkey Breast Dinner for our meals. While there was plenty to eat, all that we sampled lacked flavor and much was left uneaten. All and all there was no part of our meal that will bring us back for another meal. I will not recommend this restaurant to friends."

  • "I have passed this place many times and have always thought to try it. After SEVERAL recommendations from friends, I decided to go. I was SO glad I did and can't wait to go back and try their other menu options (my friend and I both had the chicken piccata). I liked that the menu has a nice variety, so there is a little something for everyone's taste. Good apps..great home made soups, and the portions of the entrees were good and the prices were very reasonable for what you get. This is definitely NOT pre-packaged warmed up chain restaurant/bar. Welshfield Inn definitely has two new customers !"

  • "The chicken piccatta and the pot pie were very tasty! Our server was very attentive and served the food in a timely manner. The day was cool and so was the restaurant, but the management asked the patrons if we were warm enough. They turned the heat up to make us comfortable! We will return soon!"

  • "You just can't pick a better place than the Welshfield Inn. Excellent menu with a great culinary variety, carefully prepared of quality ingredients, served by a waiter who remembered our every wish. The roaring fire, beautiful old bar, and nook-and-cranny old inn rooms add up to an A+ experience."

  • "Have driven past the Welshfield Inn for years on my way to Warren for business travel and decided to take my wife for a night out. We were very surprised! The service was perfect, food prepared just right. I ordered medium rare prime rib and it was actually medium rare! Thanks for a great night!"

  • "Genteel atmosphere in a historical setting for my parents birthday celebration. Complimentary cinnamon rolls were warm, delicious and replenished twice as we took our time socializing before ordering. My mother's Cobb salad portion was enough for two meals and she was very pleased with it. Father had been "dreaming about" the shrimp and grits since the last time he was there and after tasting it I could see why. Husband's beef hash was mostly succulent roast beef which made him very happy. Waiter was wonderful; attentive but realizing that this was going to be a leisurely meal for us. Shared the history of the restaurant and pointed out interesting features of the renovations. Only downside - even in the "fireplace room" it was chilly."

  • "Dining at Welshfield Inn was a memorable. event. Everything about the restaurant is outstanding from the uniquely prepared and presented food to the welcoming atmosphere, the kind and courteous staff, the warmth of the fireplace, the coziness of the rooms, and reasonable special occasion prices all made for a never to be forgotten evening. special occasion prices."

  • "The food, as always, was great. We had the firecracker shrimp appetizer- excellent. I had the prime rib, very good, and my wife had the scallops & risotto, which she enjoyed. The risotto was made with lobster, sweet corn, and bacon and was outstanding. The only problem was that the restaurant is in an old house and it was a cold night. Our table was by a window and it was really cold. Next time, which will be soon, we'll ask to sit in the middle of the room which was toasty warm."

  • "We went on the popular burger night. The burgers were great but service wasn't. Our order came in a timely manner but we had to wait a few minutes for condiments to come (why couldn't they think ahead for mustard, mayo, and Ketshup?), the french fries were barely warm, and they finally brought cinnamon appetizer rolls about 5 minutes after we got served our main course! So that's the story."

  • "This was our first visit to Welshfield Inn and won't be our last!! The restaurant is charming, with a cozy feel. We only had adults in our party, but obviously it is child friendly as there were many families dining. ( I might add with well behaved children!) The pork chops and prime rib were wonderful. I would skip the cherry mule drink next time, and order off the lovely wine menu instead. It is not overpriced."

  • "This restaurant is ALWAYS busy! It is located almost in the middle of nowhere, but is very popular. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is charming as it was once an old inn. We have been there quite a few times for dinner - both in the summer, where we ate outside in the courtyard, and in the winter. The bar seemed to be hopping, too. We actually made reservations for brunch last Easter and we were lucky to get a table in the church next door, which they had purchased to hold weddings and parties. They are known for their brunches, and I can see why. There was a great variety of food selections and everything was delicious."

  • "Our time spent at Welshfield Inn was Fabulous! From start to finish service, drinks and food was fantastic. A bit disappointed that no one acknowledged my Birthday, as my husband made the reservation and put a special note that is was my birthday. The Great Service and Food more than made up for the oversight of his special request. Would Highly Recommend Welshfield Inn to our friends! :-)"

  • "After traveling all day and talking about getting dinner we accessed Open Table and made reservations at our "go to" restaurant. We were not let down! Great food and service! Wonderful ambiance of an old Inn. Highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "The Welshfield Inn is one of our 'go to for special occasions' restaurants. The food and service is always very good. This night however we both got the filet mignon and it was very salty! We have had this many times without a problem. We're hoping it was just an off night."

  • "Can't say enough about the Welshfield Inn especially since changes made some years ago. I'm a fish fanatic who would prefer a well prepare fish entre over steak any day. It is difficult to find a restaurant that prepares exciting fish entrées consistently well. It is easy to mess up fish (over or under done, etc.) The salmon is always terrific and the Mahi Mahi with sweet chili sauce over garlic mashed potatoes was a Florida vacation in January for me - fresh, bright and very tasty. I enjoyed a nice straight up Martini as well. We enjoyed sharing stories with Jenny our server who took great care of us. Such a gift to have this great restaurant so close to us!"

  • "We have struggled in the past to find a really good restaurant near Hiram, where our son goes to college. This is it! We had a great experience - very good food, service, and atmosphere."

  • "Really wanted fish on Friday! The all-you-care-to-eat at the Welshfield Inn beckoned. Inside the room was warm and cozy. Service was prompt. Although the beer-battered cod was a little oily, the flavor was good. A touch of onion in the tartar sauce was nice, too."

  • "The Welshfield Inn and 2/$40 on Thursday evening is always a very nice dining experience. We enjoyed the quiet and warmth of the fireside room and the music provided by the guitarist added to the ambiance. You can't go wrong!"

  • "It takes us an hour to get here from PA, but it's always worth it. We've never had a meal we didn't love. The filet was wonderful, as was the clam chowder and fiery shrimp appetizer. If we lived closer, we would eat here more often. We highly recommend this restaurant."
