Webster HouseHidden GemOutstanding food and service. By far our favorite place to dine in the downtown KC area!!!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMNice location before SymphonyYou can't beat parking at the Kaufmann Center Garage, walking to dinner at Webster's and then, strolling back to Kaufmann for the Symphony....We've been to Webster's three times now, since the Kaufmann Center opened....It's a great spot for this, and the food and service is very good....It would be nice if the menu changed more...It hasn't changed much since we started going there...Great restaurants avoid being in a rut. Unfortunately KC doesn't have many, if any of these type of restaurants.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGood variety in limited choiceGood variety in limited choice of entrees for lunch. Very well seasoned food. Serving size was just right. Pleasant overall experience.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful AmbienceWebster House is a perfect spot to dine before performances at the Kauffman Center. The building itself is lovely and the restaurant setting on the second floor is warm and inviting. On our most recent Sunday brunch visit, the quiche had a tough crust, not their normal standard, but other items were well prepared.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMNice mealNever disappointed at the Webster House. Lobster Roll and house salad very tasty.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my second time toThis was my second time to dine here...first time was for brunch in the bar area, and the second for dinner in the Rose room. I had an excellent experience on both occasions and can't wait to go back! The mussels appetizer was the best ever!!!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AManniversary dinnerWe ate here to celebrate our anniversary. All staff with whom we came in contact knew about the anniversary and were very kind and welcoming. We had a great dinner. Salads were great. I had steak and my husband had pasta with shrimp. Everything on the plates was delicious. The desserts were also delicious. If the lavendar panna cotta is on the menu, get it. Seriously. There was an event at a nearby arts venue, so the restaurant was a little crowded when we came and could have been noisy, but as we arrived the crowd was leaving and we had a quiet, enjoyable time. Something to keep in mind if you are looking for a quiet dinner. We enjoyed our dinner very much. Our "noise level" was quiet, but i bet it was "energetic" before the crowd thinned6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMBefore the symphonyPerfect for a special night out before attending the Symphony.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMHad great service. Loved theHad great service. Loved the atmosphere and decor. Will definitely come back.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique & FabulousI highly recommend Webster House. Excellent service and food. Beautiful dining rooms. Be sure to shop in the boutiques downstairs after dining, they are full of lovely things.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice restaurant!Good food and a great location, since I usually go there before attending a performance at the Kauffman Arts Center.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food & serviceServing times can be long, but the food is very good as is the service. Best pork chop I've ever had. Highly recommended.
However, the tax rate exceeds 11%. KCMO may find that this will hurt business.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAn Urban TreasureOne must make a point to enjoy a meal at The Webster House. Add some time to your schedule to meander throughout the many rooms brimming with spectacular merchandise both old and new. Perfect place for a date night or to take out of town friends to showcase this place and the urban renewal that abounds. Also the kind of place you don't need to mark a special occassion to enjoy the experience. Well done and they have my loyalty.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMDining at Webster House alwaysDining at Webster House always feels like a special event. Everything we ate was delicious.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMa wonderful findHighly recommend, excellent, knowledgeable and engaging staff, great food with unique twists, very old home that is fantastically preserved, immaculately clean, all-in-all,, i'm surprised I had not heard of it, other than a web-search for brunch in downtown area, I would not have known of it.... on the other hand, that makes it a little more quiet/eclectic,,, so maybe i shouldnt talk so much!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMShopping & Great Food! What a nice experience we had visiting the Webster House. Two of my favorite things to do, shop and eat. The place is absolutely beautiful and the menu is fun and different.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMReservationsIn making an on line reservation I requested a table against the wall in the bar. This was not honored although my print out reflected that the restaurant knew of my request. I had made the reservation two and a half weeks in advance.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunchThe Webster House Brunch is an excellent choice for any occasion! If you have the opportunity, I would highly recommend dining at the Chef's table! Great experience.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGraduation celebrationGreat brunch for family following graduation downtown.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the historic ambiance!Located in an old school building, the historic atmosphere can't be beat. The new Kauffman Performing Arts Center is right next door with its modern funky architecture. The juxtaposition of the two, very old and very modern, is something to see. The food is excellent and service was outstanding. We came for Sunday brunch and couldn't have been more impressed with our meal.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best restaurantsOne of the best restaurants in Kansas City.
Period !5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for Business LunchFood was very good, service attentive but not overbearing. Noise level at restaurant was perfect for lunch meeting of 4 people. Could talk about things and hear each other, yet not so quiet as to make our party feel like we needed to talk in hushed tones. I had the pulled pork sandwich- it was very very good. A couple of people got the tomato soup and said it was delicious. The Sicilian tuna looked great also.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA little crowdedIt was Mother's Day and quite crowded-our table for 4 was uncomfortable as the legs were in everyone's way. We had the salmon benedict and the poached eggs were cold. Other than that the food was very good. I have been there for other meals and this was a little sub-par.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great and staffThe food was great and staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The only downside for us was the mostly curmudgeon-like clientele shuffling about the place.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, service and historyWebster House, located just next to the incredible Kauffman Center for Performing Arts, is a fantastic restaurant and European antique store inside of one of Kansas City's first school house. Restored to immaculate condition, Webster House provides a romantic atmosphere and truly enjoyable menu. This is definitely a must go location in downtown KC.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWebster House has become aWebster House has become a 'go to' place for family Sunday brunches. This mothers' day treat offered wonderful bisques, salads, and salmon or steak benedict. Also, they're dessert bar/table is AWESOME.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall good experience.Service was very good. Entrees were excellent as well. Cheesecake however arrived at our table frozen. It was send back and we were given credit for it.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely dinner. Don't dineLovely dinner. Don't dine at Webster House very often, as it usually draws an overflow crowd on performance nights at Kauffman Center, but it was an off night.....still well attended. Love their rolls, my companion waxed eloquently over the shrimp and grits; and I enjoyed the flat steak. will return again, on another "off night."5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMcool beans!!The setting is so interesting.....in an old school house, really! The view is great if one is standing up, difficult to see much from a seated position. I like all the different charming classrooms and appreciate the restoration work that was done to bring the building back to this level. The acoustics are very poor and the noise level gets annoying when the place is crowded. One big perk is the freedom to leave our car in the parking lot while attending a performance at Kaufman, and the shopping on the lower level is a nice bonus. The salmon for dinner was outstanding and the French toast that I had during a brunch at was excellent. Waitress Carey is a peach of a kid, and we are filling out adoption papers on her.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMgirls day outThere were 5 of us in our group. We all had the trio lunch specials with soup, salad and sandwich. I thought the panini was awesome and the potato soup was very good. Our server was very courteous and didn't hover, which was great. She was very helpful with the menu questions. Atmosphere was very pleasant and we enjoyed the beautiful rose room. Only one of us had been there before; we would all come again!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMMy daughter and I enjoyedMy daughter and I enjoyed our visit to Webster House. The server was friendly and attentive. The food disappointed a bit because the choices seemed so heavy although the crème brulee was terrific. We'll return in a couple of weeks and will hope to find something lighter on the menu.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it!This is my very favorite place for brunch and /or before the Kauffman!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was outstanding andThe food was outstanding and a very quiet place to take my folks who were visiting.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful, WonderfulWe took an out of town guest for dinner, and we were sure it would be the wonderful experience that it was. Our server, Sarah, was first rate--attentive without being intrusive. Everything that was ordered from drinks to entrees to dessert was prepared perfectly. Webster House is a gem.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMHappy AnniversaryWe had a great time celebrating our anniversary and made it to the Kauffman in time too.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWhy-Webster House.I had intended for some time to visit Webster House and finally got it done. It was truly outstanding in every way. I was accompanied by my wife and daughter who also enjoyed it very much. We certainly intend to visit there again, Soon. John Haynes
The service was exceptional and the staff was always right there for you. John Haynes5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAll one could ask forA small group of friends after a concert at the Kauffman Center, a romantic dinner on a special night, lunch with Mom before or after shopping, or a grand gala event. The Webster House can do it all, and comes as close to perfection as I've found in Kansas City.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything is great, except ...Everything is great, except ... Loved our lunch!!4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my third visit toThis was my third visit to Webster House in the past month. We are season ticket holders at several venues and will continue to dine at Webster House. The food is always excellent and the presentation is lovely. We have had different servers each visit and they were all very efficient and courteous.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMTaste bud explosion! That was first time.... I was so impressed. Food was absolutely fabulous. I had eggs steak benedict and my friend had chicken waffles and we also had a side of biscuits and gravy. ..I don't like biscuits and but I had to taste it was so good...and the coffee was so good too...I've been to several fine dining Restaurants. Webster house is definitely 5 star....lets start a six star...Webster house would be at the top...I can't wait to take my out of town guests there..price are good too.....4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience and setting,Great experience and setting, service started slow but once she got to our table she was very attentive. Scallop and filet dish were outstanding.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe made it!It was difficult to time right. We have tried to dine there a couple times but always caught it on a day they were closed. Well worth the wait! Great food, kind staff and beautiful atmosphere. The tables were set up so weren't looking at other tables and really didn't feel like there were many other tables there. menu was eclectic but not trying to hard. We wanted to try so many things! We will be back but maybe will try the bar scene next time. See you again Webster House!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful ExperienceMy granddaughter and I chose Webster House as our pre-dining spot before attending the Sunday matinee of Mary Poppins. Their Sunday Brunch offered choices suitable for a nine year old (she had the French Toast -- minus the pears) and I enjoyed their Quiche of the Day. Afterwards we had time to shop in the lovely old school rooms before heading off to the performance. Our waiter was attentive and treated my granddaughter like a princess, which, of course, she loved. Thank you Webster House for restoring an old schoolhouse into this lovely dining and shopping venue.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA wedding reception acrossA wedding reception across the hall was raucous! Our dining music was turned to drown out the thumping music across the hall. We perse4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWebster House is a hot lunchWebster House is a hot lunch spot where most of the guests are women. The menu offers a good variety at lunch--salads, sandwiches, entrees, the house special trio of items. Food is consistently well prepared and fresh. The soups are particularly lovely. Service is fine, but not as good as one might expect. I've had one very good server there, and four or five who were just okay. They tend to forget who ordered what and any special orders. We've waited too long at the table to be greeted by a server, waited too long for plates to be cleared, had to repeat requests--the sorts of things one would not expect in such a stellar location. Given the consistency, I suspect it is a training issue.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe tables for 2 along theThe tables for 2 along the outside walls are too close to one another----you don't have any privacy. I almost refuse to be seated in those tables.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMPlush decor greeted us whenPlush decor greeted us when we entered, setting a tone of luxury. We were seated next to one of the large windows. Although it had been raining, it was still bright enough inside to enjoy the colors of the oriental rugs. My mood was for something healthy, and the kale and quinoa salad hit the spot, though an unexpected but delicious sprinkle of bacon lowered the healthy quotient a bit. My cup of eggplant soup was luscious. My two friends ordered sandwiches, one the panini, one the herbal turkey, both very tasty.Since we saved some room for dessert, we ordered two to share, the panna cotta and the creme brulée. Not only were both delicious, but both were quite large servings, which suited us just fine. We all agreed we'd be back again soon.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
