Everything about our dining experience was wonderful. Perfect venue for dining before performances at Kaufman Center. We each had fish dishes and pleasantly surprised how fresh and non fishy the dishes tasted. Wine selections by the glass were limited but the offerings we selected were very good and nice size servings. Good environment especially if you like antiques, but if not, atmosphere is still warm and comfortable, and suitable for a quite romantic dinner and conversation, better than many other higher end restaurants. Been before with friends and look forward to a return. I would highly recommend. Only con was the price, which seems to be the trend, 2 average priced entree'. 2 glasses of wine, cup of coffee, tab, with tax, about $100, before tip.

Our table ordered the Cioppino, Salmon and Chicken for our entrees. The cioppino and salmon were great, but the chicken was marginal at best. It was tiny and overcooked (dry) with none of the lemon-type sauce described on the menu. Atmosphere and service were excellent and we'll try it again sometime, but we'll definitely avoid the chicken.

This was a new experience for 7 in our group of 8 who had never been to Webster House. The soups were wonderful and some said it was the best salmon salad they'd ever had. Melt-in-your-mouth salmon! My chicken salad sandwich was not my favorite and I will choose something else next time. We had wonderful service!

My wife has been generous enough to spend 10 of her birthdays with me. No small feat in today's world. I planned a special day first with taking off work, giving her an ok gift in the morning to throw her off the scent of the better gift coming. When it was time to go to dinner we pulled up at the Webster House and were immediatly attracted to the building. Inside on the entry floor is lovely merchandise and antiques, enough variety to compliment a wardrobe and home decorate. Upstairs we were greeted warmly and shown to our table. In a restaraunt that can seat so many they have a skill of making it seem very private and cozy. The next time we visit we would like to plan for the Rose Room (their formal dining room) but we were very comfortable. Our waiter came to address us right on cue and gave me a rundown of the wine list. We had the shrimp and grits, and the polenta, then two house salads and finally a prime rib and a Filet. The Grits were good, a little salty for my wife but I loved them. And the polenta was excellent as well. The house salads were simple, delicate, and just right. Between salad and our main course I gave my wife the Tahitian Tiffany Pearl earrings I had been hiding the last three weeks. I haven't seen her light up like that in years! Fully expecting the prime rib to outshine the filet in terms of flavor. I could not have been more wrong. It was the single best filet we have had since we lived in New York City. The prime rib was good, but not awe inspiring. Finally we shared the apple crisp and creme brûlée, and we couldn't agree which was better, but both were mouth watering even after a satisfying three course meal. At the end of the evening my wife thanked me for showing her a wonderful time and said over and over how she didn't remember when she had had a nicer evening. Thank you Webster House for providing the setting for such an pleasurable time.

We took advantage of Webster House's proximity to the Kauffmann Center, where we were going after dinner (free parking for restaurant patrons was a plus). Our meal was marvelous and we will definitely return as we are symphony subscribers. Our table was in the lane between the open kitchen and the three dining rooms, and we were eating while a large wedding reception was occurring elsewhere in the restaurant, so our location was a little noisy and traffic-heavy this time. We will probably request The Rose Room next time, but will very much miss our server, Amine.

I really appreciate knowing I'll always have great service and an excellent seasonal meal with many local ingredients in lovely surroundings. Like most restaurants, it's still louder than my ideal, but my request for a booth or wall is always accommodated and helps immensely. Some time, I'd like to try the bar seating by the kitchen just to watch it all come together. P.S. Webster House has the BEST ladies' room in Kansas City.

The combination of decor with food adds to the Webster House experience. They recently had a beet bisque on the menu -- a smooth, creamy soup with overtones of apple. Yummy and perfect for fall. We went for dinner before a performance at The Kauffman Center. They called again that afternoon to make sure that we were coming. Why, yes! We arrived & realized that we were THE ONLY 2 FOR THE ENTIRE NIGHT!! But they were there & open for us. It was, as usual, wonderful! Fabulous service, great food, nice recommendations. We arrived early, shopped & had an outstanding meal. I could not have been more pleased! (The Kansas City Royals were playing in the World Series that night!)

We were attending a ballet matinee at The Kauffman and wanted a nice place near the Center. The Webster House was perfect because it located just steps away and is a historic piece of KC. The food was great and the atmosphere helped to set a celebratory mood. Because we were limited in the time we could spend there, we were unable to really enjoy the complete facility. We would have liked to walk around and view some of the other rooms, the decorations (etc.) on the first floor, etc. but couldn't at that time. Those who plan to visit--be sure to make a reservation and allow plenty of time to tour as well as eat there. There is FREE PARKING in a lot right across the street.

Normally an excellent choice, especially when attending an event at Kauffman. This evening however, my wife ordered salmon and found it "salty". This may be more a personal choice and others may have found it to be fine. The kitchen did mix-up my order and sent me the wrong main course but quickly made it right. So all in all the Webster House is still our choice for dining when attending a Kauffman event or anytime for that matter. My wife enjoys arriving a little early so she can browse the store and seems to always find a "must-have". One of downtown KCs best.

I would recommend this place. Definitely get the fried green tomato appetizer. It is a delightful presentation!! The food was wonderful except the kale salad was not tenderized. We specifically asked if the kale salad was tenderized. We were told it was by the table server. The only other recommendation I would give is to the wait staff. Our table staff member was good but she & the under staff were not trained to clean the table at the proper time, nor were they aware to hold the food hot until a table member returned from the wash room. It was left on the table to get cold until that person arrived back. This would be a 5 star recommendation if the wait staff was trained & the table server knew to ask the chef' about the preparation.

Figured $30 plates were moderately priced. We ended up spending around $115 for 2 for entree, appetizer and bottle of wine, less tip. Mussels were good but small as we split them. One piece of garlic toast was burnt. We used our "bread plates" for the appetizer since no other substitute was offered, then when bread was brought no additional plates were offered which was kind of awkward. I ran out of wine once and had to pour my own...no big deal but with the moderate pricing service would be expected. Portions were small. My wife had the pasta which read like it would have seafood in it...none that was really visible it was sweet and ok. I got the scallops. They tasted fine, the spinach salad tasted like a bacon with mayo.
