Diner Reviews
  • "I was looking for a great brunch spot that served eggs Benedict for my mom's birthday. I was recommended here and one other place. The person bosted about how wonderful the eggs Benedict were here. She is a foodie so I took her word for it. Maybe my hopes were too high. Because nothing was good about my meal. I asked for my poached eggs to be runny, they were hard. Their version of Canadian bacon is like an over cooked tough pork chop. There was hardly any hollandaise sauce. The muffin was saturated in butter & over cooked. And its as if they don't know what salt is at this place. I never add salt to anything. I definitely did here. I ended up throwing away half my meal because I was not happy with it. Nor the 2 other people that got it ."

  • "Took out of town family for brunch and had a great time. Food was tasty and they placed in a nice room on the top floor that had a great view. Couldn't ask for a better time!"

  • "A friend and I dined at Weathervane before shopping at A Southern Season. We both loved our meal, as always. The Pimiento Cheese Fritters with Rose's Red Pepper Jelly is outstanding and a must-try!"

  • "As always, enjoyed the food and the pleasant atmosphere. The menu choices are interesting...some choices are "old reliables;" some have new and interesting twists. We'll return...again and again."

  • "Had an excellent brunch. There were several entrees that sounded good; it was difficult to choose. But I probably would have been pleased with any of them."

  • "I had not been to weathervane for a while and went there with out of town family, it was really great. Sat outside on the cozy patio, got great service and had wonderful wine (at 20% off) and great food (with GF choices!). Really good night!"

  • "Weathervane always comes through with traditional southern favorites in an upscale presentation. Our faves include the almond chicken salad, fried green tomatoes and shrimp and grits. Today's service was a little too prompt, with the entrees arriving while we were still starting our appetizers. Other than being a little rushed. It was a good lunch."

  • "Have been here several times with good result. Had the shrimp and grits this day and was disappointed with grits and excess sauce. probably will not return ant time soon.."

  • "I have to say after eating at Weathervane several times that one thing is consistent-very poor service. The servers are typically unenthusiastic, slow, and sometimes bordering on rude. My experience this week Was closer to the rude category. Our waiter could not have been less helpful , as if our presence was an irritation. Plus they took my favorite pear, arugula, fig sandwich off the menu. A very plain spinach salad with matchstick sized apple threads cost $10. Very overpriced. Only redeeming value of our lunch were terrific sweet potato fries and a beautiful setting on the back room with fresh flowers on every table. I probably won't go back"

  • "Our group of 4 shared Saturday evening dinner at Weathervane Restaurant. We loved dining outside on the enclosed patio--you would never realize it abuts a large parking lot! The service was excellent. Our selected wines and cocktails were very good. I thoroughly enjoyed the catch of the day (Mahi Mahi)--excellent! One of my friends ordered the small Mac'n'cheese dish: I did not sample this, but the 3 others in our group agreed that it was way too salty. Overall, a very nice dinner outing, but a bit pricey."

  • "I've been here three times in the last few weeks, and enjoyed the food each time. Service is inconsistent, and therefore the total experience suffers when server is not so good. Good service makes all the difference. I like the convenient location of the restaurant, and it's particularly pleasant to sit outside."

  • "Although I made a reservation, I ended up dining at the bar where there was live music. The staff was fantastic. From Will who patiently took my calls, to the bar tending staff and management on duty. They all made me feel welcome and treated me like a preferred guest. The food was delicious (we shared an appetizer and 2 small plates), although we didn't go with the bartenders recommendation of the crab cakes (next time!). Looking forward to returning for a romantic dinner or brunch!"

  • "I had always heard of Southern Seasons but had never been there. We moved here last year. We were looking to try someplace than our usual and were so glad we tried it. It was lovely and peaceful sitting outside. Our food was good-some things better than others. The appetizer Piemento Cheese balls were delicious! Fried green tomatoes okay. I was told the shrimp and grits was delicious! I had buttermilk fried chicken which was good- nothing I would order again as I expected it to be tastier. The burger was rated good and the french fries were rated very good! I can personally vouch that the chocolate cream brulee was wonderful! We would go back! "

  • "You can't beat lunch on the patio at Weathervane, but service is often inattentive and food mediocre to good. Not a huge number of menu choices, but the quiche and almond chicken salad are always good. It's beautiful out there, but they need to make a bigger effort to make the iced tea--well, ICED! "

  • "The Weathervane has been a favorite lunch spot of ours for years. It's convenient and the service and food is excellent. I had the Japaleno Poppers with pepper jelley and they were crisp and had just enough bite. Karen's Fried Green Tomatos were just crisp enough, but she would have preferred them without the cheese topping. Since we usually lunch there, we don't usually sample their wines, but remember, the Weathervane is housed indide Southern Seasons. Should you desire they will secure you a bottle from their wine department for a minimal corkage fee. You can enjoy excellent Malbecs, Zinfandels, Amaronies, or, if your budget can stand it, one of the French Grande Chateaux. Just pay your money and take your choice. "

  • "The sign outside claimed it was rated in the top 100 brunches in US. Not this past Sunday! This meal was not of the same quality of the delicious lunch I experienced here several years ago."

  • "I love coming to Weathervane, but was mildly disappointed in Mother's Day brunch. The menu offerings looked fantastic, but they underdelivered on taste. Fried green tomatoes, crab cake, and peanut butter pie were good but not great. Our waiter was a little socially awkward too. I expected better. That said, the outdoor courtyard is magical and I have had fantastic food here before. I will definitely be back. "

  • "We enjoyed our Spring Tea hugely. The cucumber sandwiches were outstanding and reminded us of English teas in the UK. Scones too. Great fun. Pre tea champaigne is a nice touch. Huge pot of tea to enjoy. Unfortunatley we could not stay for a second pot and tasting a second tea. Unfortunately, it is only held one day/month."

  • "My vision of french toast is a couple of slices of bread, soaked in an egg-milk batter and baked or sauteed in butter. Sliced french or italian bread, challah, brioche, whatever is fine. But what arrived at our brunch was a large section of a whole, unsliced baguette that had been cooked to petrifaction. We recently suffered through a severe ice-storm that resulted in our having to pick up pile after pile of sticks, branches and trees. It was disappointing to be presented at breakfast with a plate that containing what looked just like a piece of storm debris. I don't know whose bright idea this was, but please...there's no need to try to be creative with french toast---it's fine done the classic way. The rest of our meals were fine. "

  • "I took my elderly mother to the Weathervane early on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was quiet with few customers because it was early. We chose the fixed-price 3 course menu, which was excellent for the most part. I substituted a small plate entree for mine (I LOVE the small plates!). but with the few customers that I could see (we were outside, which was wonderful and quiet), I could not see why service was so slow between courses. I asked for a second glass of wine with my entree and I was almost finished with it before I received it. The dessert (new to the menu - some sort of grit cake with a crumble topping and raspberry merangue) was disappointing."

  • "Saturday night, special occasion, out of town guests. Service slow, beverages not refilled, dishes uncleared. Food either over or under seasoned, cold or spent too much time under heat lamp.Cheesemongers Choice app @$12 had ~8-10 smaller than dice size bland cheese cubes, 2 smudges of blue and half tsp smudge fig preserves. The cool, too salty crabcake was served atop a cool gloopy corn tartare and topped with cold charred tomato compote (cold tomato sauce). The waitress neglected to describe the chicken and dumplings as actually 2 pieces of roast chicken with 2 golfball size dumplings. The blackened steak, served with worcestershire, was not. Had to ask 3 times to get the sauce. All bad. The host (once a waiter) stomached up a 10% tip. "

  • "I eat lunch here every couple months and the quality of service and food are always very good. The restaurant is attractively decorated and feels good to be in even on a dismal day. Perhaps my only criticism is the noise level is fairly high especially since tables for 2 are close together. The menu stays pretty much the same. Choices are good, but they don't really change so it's not a place you'd go to every week."

  • "We attended Easter Brunch with our three kids. Our reservation was at 11:30, and the first course was brought out reasonably quickly (there were no 1st courses that the kids liked, so they were waiting for their main dish). It wasn't until 12:30 that the kids were brought their meals, and then it took almost as long for the dessert course to come out. Our waiter was nice enough, but the service was so slow. The food was disappointing. Some of the flavors were good. However, it was clear that the food had been sitting out. The deviled eggs were not as fresh as they could have been, and my shrimp and grits had congealed. The salads were wilted, and the kids did not care for their food (except for the ice cream)."

  • "We have always loved this restaurant, but don't think we'll return on Easter. The set menu with choices was ok; they had to seat us in the coffee bar area so our table of 4 was a bit close; and the service was not that great. I'm sure we'll return on a "regular" day."
    Dined on 4/20/2014
  • "While the food was good, there was an Easter menu which was not shown on the Weathervane's website when I made reservations. So it was surprising when we arrived. The food was good -- always good -- however, there was one item on the menu that deviled eggs with salmon and a bagel. When it arrived, my daughter, who couldn't wait to have that, was very disappointed because she was told it was a "type" -- it was deviled eggs with 2 "comma" size pieces of salmon topping each egg with "bagel spices" -- I think that's one heck of a typo, don't you? To go from bagel to bagel spices. We were also confounded when those deviled eggs were served on a napkin on the plate. Not the best presentation. BKWright"
