Weathervane RestaurantExcellent food; bad layoutWe very much enjoyed our meal, but the restaurant is sort-of crammed into a corner of the Southern Season store (which is well-worth a visit in it's own right). It's very confusing to figure out how to get in and out of the restaurant (as not all entrances are exits). Four of us were seated at a table for two, which may have seated three comfortably. There were plenty of free tables, but they are all small. We were shown promptly to an outside table, under an awning, very comfortable. Beautiful flowering vines, plants, and lovely umbrellas decorated the outside eating area. The service was good, attentive, but it took a few minutes to get dessert menu, then the check and the waitress did not ask if I wanted more tea. The food came out quickly-chicken salad on a croissant, and just chicken salad, were very delicious. The sweet potato fries were excellent. After I returned home and realized my pin had fallen off, I called to find out if it had been turned in. The hostess asked where we sat and I held on the phone while she looked. Good news! The Sweettea Salmon is always perfect and the Shrimp and Grits is full of huge shrimp and uses bacon, not sausage. The Sweet Potato and Apple soup is really good. This my go-to place when friends or family visit. We were early for our lunch time reservation and weren't treated very nicely. We were told that we'd have to wait for a table but not in a kind gentle way. We found a table in the bar and had a great meal with great service.
