  • Private Party Facilities: Wayfare Tavern can accommodate various party sizes. The Billiard Room can hold parties up to 16 for playing pool or entertainment or seat 8-16 guests for dining. The Bartlett Room, named for Lt. Washington Bartlett who is responsible for naming San Francisco, is our third floor private dining room that can accommodate up to 50 guests seated or 80 for a standing reception. The centerpiece of this room is the floor to ceiling glass enclosed, temperature controlled wine cellar which offers diners the opportunity to witness the sommelier making wine selections throughout the evening. We can also accommodate full or partial restaurant buy-outs for larger parties.

  • Entertainment: Within our second floor dining room, we have a Billiard Room available for parties up to 16. The room has double pained glass doors and features an antique tin ceiling, vintage red felt pool table. To make ordering easy, the room has a red "hot" phone which direct dials to ordering food and cocktails. Reservations are suggested and the room is available upon availability.

Chef Tyler Florence brings his passion for high quality and style to San Francisco with his new flagship restaurant, Wayfare Tavern. A classic San Francisco Tavern featuring authentic American dishes inspired by local cuisine at the turn of the 20th century, the menu ranges from classic comforts to rustic delicacies. The beverage menu features locally-sourced wines including a selection of Florence's own label, quality draft beers and organic root beer as well as classic Victorian-era cocktails.

All three floors of the restaurant have been designed keeping historical accuracy in mind making Wayfare Tavern reminiscent of a Victorian parlor and an Edwardian men's club, where anything goes from black-tie to blue jeans.   • "We have been there many times and have never been disappointed. I tried for the first time the beef tartar. It was AWESOME! I had the hangar steak which was excellent. We shared two desserts. One was the chocolate cream pie. Also excellent. I don't remember the other dessert but was also chocolate pudding with coffee ice cream. The wait staff was very good."

Over-herbed, oily fried chicken and salmon on bed of watery, tasteless fava beans. I am guessing dinner must be better because this was maybe the worst lunch I have ever had in SF."

They should add some items that are less pricey so if someone is on a budget but wants to go with the group they could without feeling out of place. Other than that I love this place."

  • "What a great experience. I've been out of the country for a few years and it has been a while since I used opentable. However, I decided to take a group of friends from France to dinner with me at a nice American style Tavern to give them an authentic experience. I had brazenly told all my friends that San Fran food was great and they should get ready so I was bracing myself for what was to come when we received a very simple 1 page plastic menu. However the staff were very friendly, the beer and wine list were excellent so I figured the place would at least have people leaving happy. To my great surprise, pleasure and relief the food was AMAZING. Everything we had was a flavor journey. Thank you Wayfare Tavern and Opentable."

  • "The Wayfare fried chicken is "god like" and the mac and cheese melted in my mouth. And the popovers well.. I just had to get one to go! It was a chilly day in SFO and the hostess very nicely placed us next to the fireplace. Then our waiter promptly forgot about us.After about 20 minutes of us just sitting there we got up and moved to the "bar" around the open kitchen. The hostess saw us move and promptly came over to us to ask what was wrong.She talked to the "manger" I presume he was the only one in a suit and tie standing in the kitchen. He never came over and apologized, very disappointed in that. Being a person who dines out a lot I expect a lot when I go out to dinner and the service at Wayfare Tavern fell short of expectations."

  • "We went here for my husband's birthday and we truly felt like we were treated like VIP. Happy birthday card waiting at the table when we arrived! The best food I've ever had. We loved the Poutine, Pea Tendrils and Fried Chicken! My husband also had the fried chicken with Mac n' cheese and he thought it was divine! Not to mention the popovers in the beginning! Those were fantastic! We had donuts for dessert with passion fruit marshmallow and salted Caramel sauce! So yummy. Tyler was there that night but we didn't see him but we can't wait to go back and try more yummy food!"

  • "Went to Wayfare Tavern for the 3rd time. The first two times were fantastic. This time was just OK. My wife's scallops were great but my fried chicken was much too salty. The salad was nothing special. The server was very efficient and friendly but seemed a little affected rather than warm. The popover guy was very warm (as were the delicious popovers) and could give our server some lessons. The wine list is very inclusive but on the high side."

  • "Not living or working in SF it took extra effort to get here! Early dinner, but all 4 of us loved it. Cocktails were great. Food was well flavored and perfectly prepared. The fried chicken was original and so tasty. Chocolate lovers in our group loved the pie, but the doughnuts were to die for. Our server was excellent; friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, efficient, and attentive. A very memorable trip!"

Even cuter in person:) We will certainly go back next time we're in San Francisco. My husband loved the Kobe Tar Tar served on one of those famous Popovers. could have made a meal out of that!   • "On the recommendation of friends, we selected Wayfare Tavern as our restaurant of choice to celebrate our anniversary while traveling to San Francisco for the first time. We couldn't have picked a better restaurant! The food was outstanding and our server Ricky was fantastic. to top it off, Wayfare recognized the special event note I submitted with my OpenTable reservation and had a very nice anniversary card sitting on our table when we arrived and brought out a special anniversary dessert. If you are traveling to San Francisco, you must try Wayfare Tavern!"

  • "I've been to Wayfare 5 or 6 times. Food is always good, service is a roll of the dice, sometimes great, sometimes not. On this weeks visit for late lunch around 3:15 pm, the waiter first serviced a table that came in after us. Finally, I asked the person that had seated us to find our waiter. He brought us water but never took a drink order. He took our appetizer to the wrong table; the same one he serviced before us. They remade the appetizer and comped it but it caused a delay in our luncheon. I had to go to the bar to get my iced tea refilled as the waiter was constantly MIA. The waiter couldn't seem to handle the 3 or 4 tables he had. Too bad."

  • "This restaurant is a favorite of ours whenever we're in SF because Tyler Florence is my wife's favorite celebrity chef. Unfortunately, this visit left a lot to be desired service wise. I had only two requests for this meal. The first was made during the reservation process where I indicated that it was my wife's birthday. The second was when I ordered your famous fried chicken with dark meat only. The waiter never introduced himself and service was slow and spotty through out the meal but the kicker was when I discovered I was biting into a piece of breast meat. I pointed this out and was told sorry with no compensation in any form. I was actually asked if I wanted the breast to go?!! Why? And you forgot my wife's birthday."

  • "Lunched on Saturday with a friend from the South Bay arrived and seating immediately upstairs. Water arrived shortly quickly followed by a warm popover. It was a bit loud upstairs even though it was not full; but noticed the background music seemed to be increased and lowered randomly. Ordered the butter lettuce salad two ways: one as listed the other with half lobster along with two sides, one glass of wine and one shandy (highly recommend). The food arrived expediently, however had to remind waitress that we were missing one side. My food experience has been consistently good. The sides are a bit expense, but good. A good time was had by all and will return."

  • "We went for a birthday dinner. Had a reservation for 8PM but were not seated until 8:20. Nowhere to sit in the bar and were not offered a drink. Wanted raw oysters but raw bar menu unavailable. I had planned on ordering the lobster but that too was also unavailable as were the prawns. Other menu items were very heavy so I was limited in what I could order. Great restaurant if you like heavy rich food and big portions. I personally would not return - unless I was with someone who wanted to go - as it is not the the type of food I enjoy. I didn't hate it but I was disappointed - perhaps my expectations were too high from all the hype. We did have a good time though and our guests enjoyed it."

  • "I wanted to try Tyler Florence's restaurant for a little bit now. We decided to go for lunch and we were not disappointed. We had the fried oysters with cauliflower. This was outstanding! The oysters were so fresh! Next we had the grille octopus. The octopus was very tender and flavorful! For our entrees we had the dungeness crab louis and organic fried chicken. I am not a fan of salads, but this salad was as good as it gets. There was so much crab! The organic fried chicken was very moist. I didn't know you could get white meat that juicy! Overall this was a very good lunch spot with really good food. I would definitely eat lunch here again."

  • "This is a classic american restaurant with an intimate feel like because it is small and well appointed. It reminds me of a place to be seen in NY style restaurant where the mover and shakers go:) The menu will make you salivate. My friends shared the fried chicken which looked amazing. The steak tartar I ordered as a meal was perfect with a hollow pastry muffin for the toast. The avocado salad is a share :)))"

  • "We have only had dinner at Wayfare Tavern in the past, but took out of town guests there for lunch on a weekend day. We had a wonderful lunch of crab louies and bloody marys and ended with the incredible homemade donuts. The service was great and we will definitely think of Wayfare a a lunch destination in the future."

  • "I was my birthday so my husband and I came to WT for lunch. The interior was warm, inviting and the personnel were welcoming. After being seating, however, the service was a bit uneven. Our entrees came out way too fast but our waiter came to our table immediately and apologized. And at the end of the meal we were looking for her for a while so we could get the check. The food....the octopus was OK. The best ever octopus is served at Nemea Restaurant in San Jose....take a trip south and try it. My salmon was excellent....cooked just the way I like it. And my husband had the chicken.....he devoured it all. All in all it was a lovely dining experience and we'd like to come back sometime for dinner."
