Diner Reviews
  • "I hadn't been to Danfords in almost 15 years because I moved a little over an hour away. Stayed at the hotel and had dinner there. It rained the whole weekend but it didn't matter because we had a great time at the bar having amazing appetizers and drinks. The bartender Rob was great and helped us make a great decision on what to order. The Bang Bang Shrimp and the Shrimp Salad Roll were excellent. We had dinner there that night too and were thrilled with the ravioli appetizer, the fried oysters and the Caesar Salad. We shared the two pound lobster for dinner and had leftovers. The service and atmosphere were great too. Can't wait to go back."

  • "Nice place but the dining room is dark. Live entertainment adds to the pleasant mood. Menu is very limited - 6 or so seafood entrees, 3 or 4 non-seafood. Apps-all seafood with a few salads. Just too little on the menu. I’m aware this is a seafood restaurant but there just wasn’t enough selection. For anyone allergic to shellfish, it’s almost impossible. Had the “clambake for two” $79. The lobster, clams and mussels were dry (overcooked or sitting out.) There seemed to be one waitress for the whole dining room. She was pleasant and apologetic, had the help of several bus boys, but still overworked. Our meal/drinks took a bit longer that one would like but it wasn’t the end of the world. Overall, not terrible, however not great."

  • "Had not been to this restaurant since 2008. My family & I were very pleased with our meal & we're a tough crowd. My 8 year old daughter who eats like foodie & rarely goes near a "kids menu", which Wave did have, but of course she didn't order from. We love "farm to table" fare because we're a family who eat their vegetables & like fresh food. We were not disappointed. Although the sauce on my scallops was a little on the salty side, it went well with the mushrooms & spatzle. Our server was kind and knowledgeable but not terribly friendly. The drink menu is slim. I really enjoy a fantastic cocktail/martini and the pomegranate cosmo was awful. Other then Wave needing a much hipper drink menu it was a wonderful evening & we will return soon."

  • "Excellent food, atmosphere and service! The perfect place for a special occasion celebration."

  • "You would think with such a reputation and a beautiful hotel to go with it, Wave would have at least decent food. I had the seared sea scallops and it tasted like rubber bands drowned in about a pound of salt. My boyfriend ordered the Salmon and he said the bed of vegetables was lifeless and soggy. VERY disappointed with the food, especially since it was in the expensive side."

  • "Always enjoy the comfortable seating in the bar area for drinks, and then a window table where we have very good food with special attention given to fresh and creatively prepared sides. Always a pleasing experience, even if occasionally the service is a bit off."

  • "The food was good, the menu seemed a little small and over prices for what you received."

  • "Very limited menu and a bit pricey for what they serve"

  • "I liked Wave but found it to be dank, musty, dull and dated. Food & staff were pleasant and it's a nice spot. The food was presentled nicelyby friendly people. It just needs a serious update/renovation."

  • "I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner at Wave. Although it is pricey, the service and food were great! I had the lobster mac and cheese which was a perfect portion. The meatloaf and the Chicken looked delicious as well (my fellow diners tried those dishes). Overall, the experience was very pleasant. The atmosphere/hotel itself feels very homey yet elegant. I would highly recommend!"

  • "We had wanted to try this restaurant and never got around to it. {We've eaten at Danford's before, but not since it was redone as The Wave.) We ate relatively early (we had an 8pm curtain at Staller Center), so we were the first ones in the dining room. This was a good thing, as we were given window seating by the waterfront. It was also quiet and pleasant. Later on, as guests arrived, live music played during the meal. Sweet! The food was quite good, but as the place filled up, the service deteriorated; we wouldn't let that keep us from eating here again. This place has ambience, pleasant staff and good food. It also has parking. Nicely done, Wave!"

  • "For appetizers we had the baked clams which were wonderful. The crab cakes were also good but we could have done without the pumpkin emulsion (not everything needs to be seasonal). We were served the biggest scallops I've ever seen. They were sweet and tender and very filling. The lobster mac and cheese was a little watery but had nice flavor. Our waiter was very attentive and nice. It may be a little while before we have dinner here again just because of the prices. Next time we may try lunch or eating in the pub area."

  • "I decided to go here for a business lunch. This was the first time I have been to Waves for food. The view was great. The food was excellent and the staff were polite and attentive but not to the point of being "pushy". I am reserving dinner with my wife this weekend. Thanks,"

  • "Reservation was for 7:45 on sat night. We had no idea that restaurant week menu ended at 7 pm It took our party of 4 a long time to choose dinner from the very un exciting menu Main course small and mediocre. Best part of the meal was a tasty Cesar salad We only chose this restaurant due to ability to get a reservation last minute during restaurant week. Even with reduced restaurant week prices the meal would have not been worth it. Will not return."

  • "Food was excellent! We went for restaurant week and the choices were items from the regular menu. We have eaten there 3 times in the past six months and the food had been superb each time!"

  • "this was the second visit to Wave during Restaurant Week. fabulous food with a gorgeous view--we were there at sunset--attentive server [Sean]. the plating matched the quality. all of us loved what we ordered. salmon & meatloaf wellington were superb. appetizers of ceviche, duck sweet potatoes, salad, etc were tops. and the desserts! if only Restaurant Week came more often, then we could afford to eat at Wave as much as we'd like!"

  • "Much needed night out. Was celebrating something also. Wine list was nice. Great choices. Chef serves a seasonal menu, very farm/sea to table. Everything was fresh. Had shrimp cocktail, baked clams, gnocchi alla Romano, scallops. Plating is gorgeous. Everything on menu complemented each other. Did not feel rushed. Server checked on us several times, perfect. Made great recommendations. Reservations at 5:30 showed sundown on pier, then stayed until 8pm. Restaurant corner tables a bit dark, maybe consider slightly brighter table candles. Do not go here if you are in a rush. Dessert was amazing-had the Viennese platter. Will go back."
