Brought another friend here,
ordered the steak with bacon jam, delicious. Topped it off with the 7 layer chocolate something or other, a small square of deliciousness! Fine service; our waiter Brandon was attentive but let us chat, a good balance."

I was very disappointed with the
service as the restaurant had received good reviews. I arrived early with my 3 kids and we were asked to wait - not an issue. However, once we were taken to our table, a chair was missing and no one jumped to fix it (my son offered me his). We were also missing 2 place settings which I asked for but did not receive until our meals arrived. We had to ask for water and for bread (not offered). My son uses a straw and we had to ask the waiter 3 times to get one. I was not offered a cocktail/wine list menu (hmmm...maybe they thought a mom with kids doesn't need one?). My glass of wine arrived after my appetizer was served. My $24, 4 oz halibut was overcooked. I expect better service, inline with price."

This spot was a central location
to meet friends from the LA area for dinner. The food was exceptional, service was wonderful and the ambience on the patio was perfect for easy conversation. We started with a fig and carmelized onion tart appetizer and heirloom tomatoes -- both yummy and perfectly displayed. Three of us had fish (salmon and Halibut), cooked to perfection (grilled and poached -- 2 of the options) and displayed beautifully over asparagus, sukatash and couscous with grilled veggies, some of their various side selections. One of our party had the fillet and it too was grilled perfectly and displayed over a lovely array of veggies with pearl onions. It was our first time there but definitely not our last!"

2nd time visit on July 4. They
pared down the regular menu for a buffet of fried chicken, meatloaf, steak, corn, mac n cheese, not my thing. Fortunately, the a la cart menu still got good choices. Opted for the deconstructed tomato salad, basically a caprese salad, tomatoes were very sweet and just enough balsamic. Entrees of sirloin and pork porterhouse were cooked nicely. Enjoyed it thoroughly. A short walk after dinner to the beach for the fireworks!"
Dined on 7/4/2014
Our waiter Kameron was great. I
needed to eat quickly, and he got both the salad and the entree perfectly timed (with help from the kitchen). We'll be back! The kitchen always does an excellent job!"
Dined on 7/1/2014
We were celebrating our 28th
Anniversary and you staff made us feel very special. The food was excellent and the service was excellent. We live in Huntington Beach and we will be back!"

Can't say enough about how
thrilled we are with Watertable. It is nice to have such a fabulous restaurant with such great service in Huntington Beach. The menu selection and quality of food coupled with fabulous waitstaff and a great wine list make it our favorite. We've even enjoyed a couple night dining in the bar. Kudos to The Hyatt for putting the money into redoing there dining concept. We are so lucky to have Watertable in Huntington Beach."

Great food and excellent service!
A very pleasant surprise for a hotel restaurant. Will definitely eat here again."
Dined on 6/23/2014
I brought some friends here after
our plans cancelled elsewhere, and they loved it! We all ate the NY steaks, each was cooked to perfection, and the bacon jam is amazing, again. The breeze was perfect for outside dining. I could have relaxed there all night!"
Dined on 6/19/2014
We were very happy with the food
and the service, exceeded our expectations and we will be back. The only negative is the wine list, way over priced, but we will just bring our own next time and pay the corkage fee."
Dined on 6/16/2014
Food is very good but not at the
level one would expect for the price. Had to send back one side as it was lukewarm rather than hot. That should not happen. Waiter was all over us at first then became totally unattentive inspite of the place not being busy."
Dined on 6/8/2014
The ocean breeze, though a little
nippy, made it a perfect evening out."

Last night we dined at Watertable.
We expected a great meal but did not anticipate this level of greatness. We sat outside with an amazing view. The outdoor seating area is cozy and added to the overall experience. Our waiter, Khan, who is also the sommelier, helped us pick a perfect wine and also helped make the decision of what to eat. With so many great choices on the menu it is hard to choose. The house butchered NY Steak was excellent and the bacon jam is out of this world. The dessert that ended the night (creme brûlée and salted caramel profiteroles) was the perfect ending to a great meal. We can not say enough just how fantastic Watertable even before their grand opening. This is definitely a must try when in Orange County"

My husband and I made our second
visit to Watertable and were not disappointed. Although Kahn was not working, Kevin, the asst. manager took great care of us and provided us with some laughs as well. We will be back again soon!"

Love the vibe here. Decor is
outstanding especially for hb. We have been three times in last ten days. Great just for cocktails or dinner. "
Dined on 5/24/2014
I enjoyed what I ordered, but I
wouldn't know what to get next time. I'm not a fish eater and the menu was limited. The food was good but expensive and not exciting. "
Dined on 5/24/2014
This restaurant has an amazing
vibe with menu creativity second to none. The wine list allows you to buy a couple glasses from a bottle you may not want to purchase which you do not see all the time. Most notable is the service. The people assembled in this restaurant are very accommodating and engaging. Being in a Orange County for three nights, we dined at Watertable two nights in a row. We were truly impressed and see this restaurant as Huntington Beach's best new place to dine. "

+AMDG+ Came in to enjoy a fine
meal, and got it. The beet salad, though short on beets, was delicious. My steak was perfect. The salamon was thoroughly enjoyed. We shall return again soon."
Dined on 5/22/2014
I have been anticipating the
re-open of the restaurant at the Hyatt. They not only remodeled, but they have a whole new concept, and it is exciting. The bar was busy when we arrived, but they found a quiet table for us. Our waiter, James, was great. Loved his recommendation, a "Bacon Jam" to top my NY steak...it was heavenly!! And I did not think bacon could get any better. Bacon-lovers take note of this one! Cannot wait until my next visit."
Dined on 5/20/2014
I do not know where to start with
praising this place. From service to food to location: it is perfect and this while they still have a soft opening. Special praise for the "culinary bar manager". He loves his job and it shows. He offered us a special dessert: a grape wrapped in cheese and nuts ( sounds way too simple an explanation for the explosion of favor in my mouth) I will will be back asking for the best dessert I ever had"

Enjoyed meeting up with clients
here, love that you have a choice of lounge, bar with long tables or sit at the bar. I love the earthy yet upscale feel to it. Service was good although we sat by the entrance where the lounge area is at and there wasn't much space for the food, so that area seems to be only for drinks. It was awkward to try and make space for a couple of appetizers we ordered. The server forgot one of the appetizers and thought it was strange that when you order the jar spreads, they give you 3 pieces of bread (yes there were 3 of us and we each had a piece of bread but wanted more & tried getting the servers attention to do so but when she came I only remembered we were missing an appetizer. The bourbon pours are small."

Ate here for both lunch and
dinner. The steaks are phenomenal and the staff is helpful, friendly, and sincere. Always a bonus to have brass mugs for real Moscow Mules. Highly recommend."

Our recent dinner at the
newly-opened Watertable in the Hysatt Huntington beach did not dsiappoint. Highly recommend!"
Dined on 5/2/2014
Watertable had not even had its
grand opening when we tried it. We had found out that it had only been open to the public for a week. We NEVER would have known! Service, organization, FOOD, ambiance, were ALL spectacular! We sat in the lounge for a bit to enjoy the hockey game then was seated outside. The hostess was the sweetest little thing and our server was so knowledgeable! The food was so yummy! Lamb chops, artichoke dip, salad, ALL delicious! Cant wait to go back!!!"
Dined on 5/3/2014
Good food and impeccable service.
Really like the yellowtail crudo. If you are looking for big plates of food, this is not the place. We will come back."
Dined on 5/2/2014
Amazing. A bit of an ocean view.
Outdoor patio has great water features and a firepit. And the best part... Ducks come by your table and you can feed those fatties some bread!"
Dined on 4/27/2013
We celebrated our daughter's 13th
birthday here. It was really great. My favorite: We wanted to surprise our daughter with cash and we kept leaving bills around the table. Our waitress was great and helped us by serving cash with dinner to our daughter. Excellent service, excellent food. We were all pleased and will return."
Dined on 8/6/2012
Going midweek in October's off
season, we enjoyed the fireplace after a beautiful sunset and hardly anyone in the restaurant. Our waiter gave us time and recommended what we would enjoy, not what he liked. The food was top notch. It's a great atmosphere that locals will be presently surprised a. It's a treat we locals don't take advantage of often."
Dined on 10/11/2012
Excellent service as
usual Portions seem a little small, but doggy bags get old anyway Food was excallent"
Dined on 7/28/2012
AMAZING!!! We had the chef's
special which was a great choice. It had the chef's favorites which were prepared perfectly. Wait staff was super. So friendly, provided great suggestoins and were fun to talk to. We sat outside, beautiful backdrop. The creme brulee was a wonderful end to a great meal. Will be back!"
Dined on 7/16/2012
The chef's special had some of the
best selections, but the filet was not as great as the rest of the meal."
Dined on 6/16/2012
Yes this is in a hotel, but dining
outside on the patio made it quite special. We ordered cocktails that weren't on the menue and our request was honored precisely (Jack & Ginger)! The food was way above average and service attentive, but not overdone. Good place to know about along the coast for a special meal."

A friend treated me to a very
belated birthday celebration dinner. It has been a while since I dined at the Californian. I was extremely pleased with the excellent service. Their signature steak was outstanding! My friend enjoyed her salad and lamb appetizer dishes tremendously. The complimentary chocolate dessert - my choice from the dessert menu - was a delicious delight! Will return!"
Dined on 1/25/2011
This is a hotel dining room and
was not comfortable! Very pricy for what you got!"
Dined on 6/4/2009
decor was a bit
empty/drab/generic. the service was slow (check-ins were few and far between - we even had to hunt someone down just to get the check), though not un-friendly. the food wasn't much to write home about, but the creme brulee was pretty good. probably won't eat here again; i caught it during restaurant week, but the prices were just about normal anyway. money could be better spent elsewhere, but i wasn't completely disgusted or anything. i did, however, really like their silverware, particularly their spoons."
Dined on 9/19/2009
Our server, Diane, was attentive,
friendly and knowledgeable. She recommended the filet and the seabass and we decided to go with her suggestions. Both dishes were AMAZING! I will definitely be recommending your restaurant to my friends and family."
Dined on 11/5/2008
I have dined at the Californian
for brunch and for dinner, and I should clarify the 4 star food rating in that dinner was excellent 4-4.5 stars. A sophisticated and elegant menu, carefully prepared. Brunch was just okay, 3.5-4 stars at best. Nothing spectacular, but everything tasted pretty good. The ambiance is great. And of course, you're steps from the beach. Would definitely recommend for dinner. Brunch is + or -. For those with kids, the wait staff was very accommodating for my 8 month old son."
Dined on 11/9/2008
We go to the Californian every
year for our wedding anniversary. Every year we are so glad we did. The food is excellent and so flavorful! The presentation is fantastic. The service is always friendly and very attentive. Greg is the best waiter there and his suggestions for food and wine are always spot on. This is my favorite restaurant!"
Dined on 10/22/2008
This was the first time experience
for me at this restaurant and I really wanted to take my boss to a very special boss's day lunch and the Californian fit the bill all the way around. We all were very impressed with the service, the ambiance, the view of the ocean and the seating outside was absolutely gorgeous. The food was very good and well presented and the pomagranite ice tea was tops! We will definitely be back again for another special occassion."
Dined on 10/16/2008
My wife and I had dinner at the
Californian on 9/20/2008. The food was well prepared, my wife had the Sea Bass and I had the scallops. It was nothing out of the ordinary. The atmosphere was bland and sterile. The service was slow. When we were seated we were asked by three different attendants if we wanted water, replying yes to all three but no one came back to fill our glasses. Not what you might expect from such a high priced restaraunt. This is the first time I've been disappointed by a Zagat's review. WOuld rate the restaraunt average to below average. There are much better choices for the price."
