  • "Whether dining inside or out with a lovely view of Capital Lake, this is an ideal location for lunch or dinner meetings. Service is professional and discrete; classically elegant ambience; conducive to business conversations. This would translate well to dinner with family and friends as well, and the wine list looked appealing."

  • "Title says it all, very slow service, not only for our table but throughout. Not enough servers."

  • "I love Water Street..but we did not have a great meal. My house salad seemed like bagged spinach, no other greens. Overdressed, soggy. The seafood antipasti with fried calamari & mini crab cakes, but no sauce for either in sight. I requested some aioli and was served what tasted like weak ranch dressing. Definitely not great. My companions' dinners were also uninspired - whole sea bass, with the head, tail and bones intact. Really, we don't want to have to bone our own fish, especially at that price. The other diner had a chicken breast dinner; he said it was okay, but also uninspired and not any better than what he would have fixed at home. It was a disappointing evening except for the lovely outdoor table on a gorgeous evening."

  • "The only negaitive about this restaurant was the salads, both the cesar and the mixed green. Wife and son had the cesar and neither liked it, I had the mixed green and it was very boring."

  • "For sure great food and service. Location real good area in Olympia next to waterfront park."

  • "This is a small but outstanding restaurant. I have never had a bad meal or bad service at Waterstreet Café and often recommend it to people. There appears to be an outside eating area but everytime I have been there, the weather would prevent outside dining. If you like outstanding food and an outstanding wine list, you will like Waterstreet Café & Bar"

  • "My husband and I have not stopped talking about our luck in finding this restaurant. We loved the special drinks, the side dishes were innovative, the main course, tops! We can't wait to come back again."

  • "We decided to go to a nice dinner for our 15th anniversary! Waterstreet cafe was amazing! We had a great evening! I would gladly go there for date night anytime!!"

  • "The number one restaurant in town with an excellent staff and an excellent location for an evening of JAZZ."

  • "Great little place near the capital. My husband and I shared the duck and pork belly appetizers which couldn't have been better. He had the burger and I had the lasagna. We were both very satisfied with our meals"

  • "Met some ladies there (6 of us altogether) for an after-work meeting. We are professional women, but this was a gathering to discuss planning a future social event. It was the perfect venue. Both the meat and cheese platters were beautiful and exquisite, and the wine list was interesting and varied, but not TOO long. Even the "house" red (wine) was fantastic! We will be hosting a dinner there in the next couple months, which I have arranged or been to with other groups, everything from an office function to my niece's wedding reception. Their service is always impeccable and friendly, not stuffy."

  • "The muted colors of this restaurant belie the vibrant and colorful menu and wine selection. Great place to go and have a romantic triste with someone you love."

  • "We are always amazed at the quality, and uniqueness of the food at The Waterstreet Cafe. Everything is fresh and so flavorful."

  • "We arrived at 745 for an 8 o'clock reservation. We were seated instantly. We ordered a bottle of wine and were given an awesome wine presentation. We ordered appetizers and entrees. I ordered the Rib-eye with Mashed Potatoes, my wife ordered the Lasagna and Mushrooms with Aioli. Everything was delivered to the table on time. Our glasses were always full. The food had amazing flavor and texture. I ordered my steak medium-rare. That is exactly how it came. The portion sizes were huge. I ended up taking half of my steak home. Our waitress was extremely nice. She suggested menu items for us. She also took care of a large portion of the dining room without neglecting any table as far as I could tell. Thank you for a wonderful evening."

  • "When there is a loud group in the bar, the booths adjoining are impossibly noisy. When the leg. is in town, it always seems way too noisy in the whole restaurant (or any other time it's especially busy). Get some thick velvet drapes, or hang fabric panels SOMEWHERE...I'm tired of not being able to hear others in my party when dining at Water Street. Generally I love the food, but this night ordered a small plate of pork belly and it was so sweet as to taste like dessert. Way too sweet for my taste. So this wasn't the best experience I've had at Water Street, altho the burgers my companions had were outstanding and the service was excellent."

  • "My boyfriend and I came here for date night. The only complaint I have about the place is that it took a little while for someone to come to our table when we first sat down. It was a little awkward. Plus we were seated right next to this giant bread bowl but we're never offered any. However, once our server started helping us the experience was fantastic. The antipasto dish was wonderful, and my cioppino was delicious! My boyfriend liked his boar lasagna as well. I don't know if we would make this a place to visit weekly (it was a little pricey), but it was the perfect place for our date. Great atmosphere."

  • "The best dinning experience in South Sound. Excellent staff and over the top menu and wine list. Once a month late night music is best show in town."

  • "My wife and I had a chance to celebrate our third anniversary here. The attentive service, the wonderful, varied menu and the beautiful setting made for a special evening. The wild boar lasagna and the pork cheeks were dishes as good as we've had anywhere and we soaked up the wonderful demi glacé surrounding the brussels sprouts with extra bread... it was that good! When the staff found out about our anniversary, they even brought us champagne... what a nice touch! We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Olympia."

  • "Everything was great except for the moderate service. The seater forgot to get us two menus and then it took a while to get another one. I didn't feel like we had one particular waiter because for each different thing--water, drinks, appetizer, and dinner--were all served by different people which I did not find to be particularly helpful. I would come here again for a special event, however we were the youngest group, which is something one should note. Many people were locals and the waiters knew them by name."

  • "The chicken and waffles both were cooked to death. And I'm not sure it belongs on the menu. The meatloaf was good but in the past has been excellent. Always a good wine list. Service was good despite an awkward question from one server whether we had a reservation (after we were seated and eating). This place needs to up its game to charge it's prices. It has been better and can be a real gem. It's needs to find itself again. Noise level is quiet and perfect for conversation. Ambience is fine dining and not the best for children."

  • "We were here on Christmas Eve and will definitely be back. My husband and I have recently moved from Orange County Ca. in search of a dream location with a slower pace, less people and beautiful scenery. We found all in the South Puget Sound area of Olympia. However, with less population density came fewer fine dining opportunities close to home. What a welcome surprise in the Water Street Cafe! The food was outstanding. The ambiance was that of a sophisticated, lively little bistro, with knowledgeable wait staff and an extensive wine list featuring an abundance of Washington State wines. We look forward to exploring the menu and the wines on many future visits, and agree that we have found our new favorite Olympia restaurant!"

  • "We have made visiting Waterstreet an annual Christmas Eve tradition for several years. It has become one of the highlights of our Christmas celebrations. We were very pleased again this year."

  • "Four of us had our Christmas lunch at Waterstreet and again were delighted by the amazing prawn salads we had and the impeccable service. The drinks were excellent as were the desserts."

  • "My wife and I went to the Waterstreet without a firm idea as to what we wanted for dinner. We just told Sarah to have the chef make us dinner. We were quite happy with the endive salad, the surf and turf entrees he made for us as well as the wine pairings supplied by our waitress Sarah. It was a fun evening and we will be back."

  • "I had dinner with 4 others including two from Los Angeles. Service was great and the steaks were very good."
    Dined on 12/4/2013
  • "The food was wonderful and fresh, seasonal. Service was very nice. The problem was that we got put in the room to the left as you come in. Tables are around the perimeter of the room, with one large table in the middle. Our table happened to be right under a glaring spotlight from the ceiling, way too bright! Sunglasses would've been appropriate. It really did take away from the meal. Also we left our coats on. It was chilly in that corner. If I had to sit in that area again, I would skip the meal and find somewhere else to go. The rest of the restaurant area is appropriately lit and inviting. The restaurant really needs to cozy up that room. It is a major detractor to sit where there is an intense light beaming down on your table!"

  • "My husband and I came here on a friends suggestion. I'm pregnant so I didn't get to enjoy wine or cocktails but the food was superb! Was a little expensive but worth every cent in the end. The service was also great they were very attentive!"

  • "My wife and I had a lovely meal at the Waterstreet. We've been there before, several timess, and it's never disappointed us. Nice menu, interesting and eclectic wine list, and very capable and thoughtful service. We'll be back."

  • "We celebrated our 40th anniversary with friends who have the same anniversary date and wanted somewhere special. The online menus were intriguing so we chose Waterstreet Café and Bar. The food was phenomenal! Our server was friendly and helpful until we declined dessert and then she deserted us for quite some time, leaving us waiting for our bill. She finally stopped by again and responded fairly quickly when asked for the check but it was a disappointing end to an amazing meal. The food was very good, seasoned uniquely and presented beautifully. The wine selection was vast and the specialty drinks were intriguing. Other than the noise level, overall a lovely dinner."

  • "Green salad was not very interesting. Lamp chops with berry sauce were appealing - as were vegetables - delightful pureed sweet potatoes. Asparagus good. And chocolate torte with coffee a nice close. Outdoors was desirable for this summer evening but the patio with view to parking and lackluster decor leaves something to be desired. It was quiet - easy to carry on a conversation. Waitress was very attentive and accommodating."
    Dined on 8/10/2013
  • "The food was not very good, it's been much better in the past. The menu has the same old offerings, nothing "special". The pizza lacked flavor, and was exceptionally boring. Inconsistency has always been an issue with this restaurant, now I'm afraid it's a permanent problem."

  • "Someone who lived near Olympia before Seattle recommended this place so we ate there and were impressed. WE will eat there the next time we pass through Olympia."

  • "We had our anniversary dinner here and were not disappointed. Great wines by the glass and nice selection of sparkling wines for that special occasion. The antipasti platter was very large and yummy. Hubby had the seared duck breast and I had the braised rabbit lasagna - such flavors! We saved room for dessert - goat cheese cake and cherry vanilla panacotta - our complements to the pastry chef - both unusual and extremely tasty! We will be back!"

  • "We have tried and tried to enjoy this restaurant. The food is good but the service is spotty. Our last visit we were seated quickly but waited a long time for someone to take our drink order. It wasn't that busy so we did not know why it took so long. The menu has not changed in a long time. They have specials but the main menu has not changed in a couple years. For the price it is not worth it to go back for a stale menu and spotty service."
