Diner Reviews
  • "Very inconsistent restaurant. Been there a couple of times and sometimes the food is great and sometimes is terrible. This past weeks I was there for my dad's birthday. Alwful doesn't begin to describe it! Sent three dishes back. Friday nights have been good but Saturdays seem totally different. Maybe there are to focused on the catering hall upstairs and not paying attention to the main restaurant. Either way it's too hit of miss for a special occasion"

  • "The food was extraordinary. We shared the seafood tower which tempted the palate with every bite and our veal was beyond delicious."

  • "Restaurant was perfect for this special occasion. Pricey menu and wine list but that's what you do. Food and service were exceptional so worth the trip!"

  • "Hostess was beyond rude to the point where it ruined my mood for the rest of the evening. Server was incredibly nice and professional. No idea why they would hire such a rude and unprofessional hostess with an attitude problem. You would think she would know to maybe smile to greet customers....you know what, forget smiling, simply just don't talk down."

  • "We found this on open table and booked at the last minute. Service, food and ambience was excellent. No wi-fi, which was a bit odd as it was mentioned on the menu. Great river views and not too expensive. Would go again."

  • "Food was excellent. Great view of NYC. Would recommend to all my friends. Seems to also be great for for couples, friends and family gatherings."

  • "service took forever. I think the waiters were trying to be respectable of the conversations we were having at the table, but they took forever to come over and take our order and then come back again. I am a very patient person and never think twice about having to wait, but this was a bit absurd. Once we did actually place an order, the food came out within minutes. I definitely would go back for cocktails and to sit at the bar or outside along the Hudson because the views are great, but probably not for dinner again."

  • "Upon entering, the hostess informed us that they had not received my reservation from OpenTable. Because of this, we were seated in a bad location. The server was not attentive, we were never asked if we wanted another cocktail nor was the water ever refilled. We had nothing to drink the entire meal. Our steaks were severely overcooked. The food was bad. I have been several times and this place his getting worse and worse - I could get a better steak at any chain restaurant. I won't be back for a long time, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone."

  • "Small plates are great for a community dining experience. The wait staff was great. The views of the NYC skyline were gorgeous."

  • "I have been to this place several times and each time the music is super annoying. It's that club beat with no vocals but a constant beat that never ends. I mean I love background music and this was just noise!!! Get a better DJ then I might come back!"

  • "This is a location with a rare and beautiful view , and airy atmosphere. Great food, okay service, lovely owner and is very special"

  • "The new menu physically looks cheap - like something you'd find in a coffee shop - laminated plastic. I counted several typos on it as well (the word is PROSCIUTTO not PROSCUITTO). Also the food SELECTION is basic and unimpressive. Considering the price and location, this is not acceptable. The entry area was damaged, the host was not at the host stand even though the restaurant was empty, and when I did find him, instead of greeting me with "welcome.. can I help you?" he literally looked at me sort of suspect, as if to say "what are you doing here"!! On the other hand, the waiter was as nice as could be, the pasta I had was DELICIOUS and the view is worth a million. Seriously, if they just address the other issues they'll have a winner."

  • "Very good food...nice place...beautiful view of the city (NY), and good service."

  • "Very loud and not a very cozy ambience for a date night. Tables were too crammed together so you felt like you were eating on top of the person next to you. Waiters seemed like they were rushing you at first to get some turnover going. Food was so-so, Chart House is overal better if you are looking for seafood on the hudson"

  • "This was a last minute reservation after being told about the resturant by a nieghbor. Wow we were very happy with our evening. The service...waiter very attentive! The food was excellent and plentiful...wine list was good and priced very reasonably! My family was very impressed and we are making plans to return very soon."

  • "Beautiful view!!! Had brunch. Arrived on the later side, and some food had been left out a while. Omelette was FAB! Service was OK. A bit pricey for brunch since the food was OK, but the view was worth it!"

  • "The entire staff is attentive and gracious as always. We have has many casual meals outdoors and holiday meals and the food is consistently well-prepared. A pleasant experience and a great place ...never disappoints."

  • "Excellent as always -- the whole fish is superbly grilled. The service is attentive and informative, without being intrusive. Solid menu. Gorgeous view of Manhattan across the Hudsun River. Difficult to tell why it isn't packed."

  • "AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Recently moved from the city and have been looking for new restaurants in North Bergen. Tried Frank's for Brunch, and it was terrible. First off, the brunch is quite expensive at $30pp and the food is mediocre at best. Definitely not worth the price. You would be better off going to the diner across the street. Second, the level of service and class is extremely low. Was there with my pregant wife, who obviously could not drink the one drink included in the $30 price. Because she couldn't drink, I asked if I could have a cup of coffee instead and they said no I would have to pay extra. Not only did the waiter refuse to throw in the silly cup of coffee, so did the Manager!!!!"

  • "Food was good. Shrimp a little tough. Not a large portion. Tables were close together so neighbors were very close. Could not have a private conversation. Outdoor seating looked a little better as far as not being so close but it was a little cool to be outside."

  • "Absolutly beautiful view and wonderful restaurant. The menu offers a variety of food fit for everyone. Do not be fooled it it not only a seafood restaurant."

  • "food is very good at this reformed place - but the prices are a bit high. we went for the first time and would like to try it again but may have to wait until we get some more money in the bank..."

  • "Beautiful summer evening, dinner was very good, had the evening branzino whole fish, excellent choice! Rest of my guests very much enjoyed their pasta entrees as well. Would definitely recommend eating outside weather permitting. Am a frequent guest here, and have always had a memorable dinner experience."

  • "Excellent! The best all around experience at this restaurant of all the times I've been there. Location and views can't be beaten, of course, and the food was better than expected! Indoor/outdoor options let you take advantage of the gorgeous weather."

  • "The outside bar has music that is pleasant "oldies", very enjoyable. We will return."

  • "The view is a reason to visit. Food is adequate but nothing special. You are paying for the atmosphere. The outside bar is a nice change as well as the outdoor seating. Indoor decor is vey nice. THe hostess was extremely accomodating and the staff was attentive."

  • "This was our first visit to Frank's Waterside and it was a very positive experience all around. The wait staff (beginning with the valet) was super friendly, attentive, welcoming, but not intrusive. The food over-all was very good. The brunch selection was more than suffient. We would definitely return. The view is not as pleasant as the midtown panorama, however, eating near the water is always pleasant."

  • "My boyfriend and I went there to celebrate our 3yr Anniversary. And All I can say is that the event overall was wonderful. We started by first reserving a car service from opentable after we booked our dinner dreservations (Easy, ontime, affordable and it gave us the chance to drink & unwine) My boyfriend also ordered fresh Roses for our table which the manager brought over once we arrived.. Another great service offered by opentable. Dinner was great, the staff was propmt and outstanding. When we finished with dinner we steppd out into there outside bar where we enjoyed the fabulous views of the NYC skyline. And even saw a shooting star. The only negative inconvenience was the outside bartendar gave our Credit card to another guest."

  • "Excellent! The food was filling as well as light...we left satisfied but not stuffed!! Would definitely recommend it and will be returning in the near future."

  • "Service was excellent. They could't fill our water glasses fast enough, and there was even one busboy seemingly devoted to bringing us a second basket of bread. There was an unusual spread that came with the bread. The mixed green salad would have fed two easily. The zucchini flowers stuffed with Ricotta over arugula were light and fluffy, perfectly fried but not oily, and the dressing on the greens was a nice counterpoint to the cheesy flavor. Main courses also were good. The Halibut was a little dry, but that's Halibut, but the leeks in white wine were most and flavorful. The lamb chops were excellent, and the filet mignon was "like buttah." And, of course, there is that view of the west side of NYC and the river."

  • "The view is spectacular and we have booked one of our daughter's wedding there. The seafood is good but the steak (better cuts) needs help."
    Dined on 7/15/2009
  • "Food was very low quality and in fact reminded us of wedding fare. We grew up in the area and never tried and was initially impressed on first glance, as the view and ambiance are amazing. Once the food arrived it was a complete nightmare and the bill matched that description. I would avoid at all costs unless the view of NYC is the most important thing to you."
    Dined on 7/10/2009
  • "It was a very expensive lunch. The cost 53dollars per person, without drinks and not everyone ordered antipastos or coffee. In NYC you get business lunch all inclusive for 30$"

  • "The food is very good and there is a nice view of the river and Manhattan. We went for the "jazz brunch" but were seated upstairs where there was no jazz and it felt like a catering hall. Definitely ask to be seated downstairs - the room is much nicer."
