Water's EdgeTook my girlfriend for herTook my girlfriend for her birthday and she loved it! She was very impressed, the view of the city was fantastic.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat! !services was great. I had a lovely experience. My and My fiancee. Definitely going back. .6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat combinationThe view is breathtaking! That's a given and there's not another restaurant that can deliver quite the same one. The surprise was that the food was very good, too -- not always the case when an establishment is justifiably famous for their ambiance. One picky eater among us said the fish she ordered was simply the best she ever had. The wait staff was attentive but not intrusive and were very cooperative when we requested to have our dessert outside on the deck. Pricey, yes, but this place delivers on all counts.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe view cannot be beat. GreatThe view cannot be beat. Great service.
Very accommodating.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMA fine meal and a great viewMy wife and I had dinner here, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the night we got engaged here. For appetizers, she had the shrimp dumplings and I had the duck confit; for entrees, she had the Chilean Sea Bass, and I had the 10oz filet mignon. For dessert, we split an order of the banana-bread pudding with cinnamon ice cream. From start to finish, every item was superb. Also, the manager sent us complimentary glasses of champagne to toast our engagement anniversary.
Our only critcism is that the wine list is a touch limited for our tastes; it's weighted toward French wines, with little effort to include other varietals from around the world. In particular, the options for wines by the glass (a necessity since we were driving.)5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food in a great locationWe've been to Water's Edge a number of times and have always been impressed with the food. A relative from Texas (who ran several restaurants) said the shrimp was the best he had ever tasted.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMRequest a south-end tableWater's Edge has become one of our favorite spots for a moderate-cost view of Manhattan's skyline. While the Midtown skyline is not quite as impressive as River Cafe's Downtown view, Water's Edge is a more accommodating restaurant. Even near a holiday weekend (the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend, our last visit), there were empty tables. So, when a large Japanese group grew rather boisterous and we asked for a table farther from the noise, the staff cheerfully relocated us. Still, for reservations on a holiday-weekend night, when the restaurant might be full, it would be advisable to request a table on the south end, because the north end of Water's Edge is more-or-less permanently set up for large groups.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMNo Outdoor dining availableUnfortunately, outdoor sitting area was only for sitting with a drink, no food service outside. Otherwise, a scenic view of Manhattan skyline for sunset pics! Suggest you make your reservation timed in line for the seasonal sunset time of year.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMPotential ProposalI scouted this place because I am looking for a nice scenic restaurant to propose to my girlfriend. And I got great reviews about Water's Edge. I enjoyed my time there and the food was excellent to go along with the view. I will definitely be back and I think my girlfriend will love it!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMfantasticEverything was just fantastic: the food, the wine, the view, the service. Every time again5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place to celebrate a specialWe were celebrating a friends graduation from graduate school. A good time was had by all. We weren't rushed at all, actually had a few drinks at the bar beyond our reservation time. We were accommodated in every sense.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat View and FoodIt was our first time eating at this restaurant and the experience has made it a special favorite
place for dining with family and friends. The experience is all the more special when the city lights come on at night.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMNice surprise and worth the tripWe booked a lunch to celebrate a birthday and Mother's Day and wanted some place special. We knew the Watersedge would have a nice view but we were pleasantly surprised by the food and the professionalism of the staff. a few of us had the prifix lunch and it was a great value. The main restaurant was surprisingly quiet for a Friday afternoon. It looks like a great place for happy hour on he beautiful deck overlooking the city.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprisingly pleasant experienceI booked Water's Edge for my daughter's 18th birthday for the water view, despite some negative comments about the food from other Open Table reviewers. We had a very nice dinner - the (expensive) cold seafood appetizer was tasty and visually impressive, and our main courses (scallops, sea bass, and steak) were all very good/excellent, even if the steak was not quite up to prime steakhouse fare. The wine list was extensive and impressive - I found a delightful '95 bordeaux at a fair price for the vintage. I think we were wise not to order surf & turf (subject to complaints by others - I've found most restaurants skimp on the quality for such an entree). Given the location, best for special occasions, as it was for us.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMRestaurant is on the waterRestaurant is on the water overlooking NYC so the view was beautiful. Would have been perfect if the windows were clean. The service was very good and the food was plated beautifully and tasted great. We did have a small problem with ants and had to move away from our window seat. Overall we had a nice time.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMLove it. Will be back again.I took my girlfriend here for our 6 month anniversary. It was amazing! Great atmosphere, great food and best of all, the view of the city was beautiful. The menu is on the slim side, but still adequate for a picky eater. Would definitely return later in the future.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Location right acrossWonderful Location right across from the 59th street bridge over looking the beautiful NY city Skyline.Amazing food good sized portions. Took my fiance for his Birthday we both really enjoyed the food as well as the view. Will definitley go back.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat views of Manhattan!Great views of Manhattan! Service was fantastic and servers are very attentive and knowledgeble. My husband's steak was a little undercook but the taste was great and everything else we ordered was phenomenal. There is an outdoor terrace we look forward to going back in the summer for brunch!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife cannot stop talingMy wife cannot stop taling about the surf and turf with the filet mignon and lobster. i will definetly be heading back there in the near future4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMRomantic restaurantMe and my husband went to waters edge restaurant for our 3 years anniversary. It was so romantic and quiet. The view was Spectacular. The waiters were on point. The food was Delicious. However, I do recommend before going to water edge you eat a little because the portions here are very little. The only con with waters edge, after we paid for our meal and was walking toward our Vehicle the manager ran outside with our bill just to tell us we did not leave a tip. Here's the thing guys, it was our 3rd anniversary, we first went on a hot air ballon ride in jersey, paid over $800.00, and paid for tows. After that we really had no money left. Our bill, for two people, came up to $95. Tips are not mandatory-only if you have it!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe view is great, ManhattanThe view is great, Manhattan Skyline. The food is very good, clearly structured without straining after effect. The service is absolut perfect and very friendly. The ambiance is a bit frumpy, but that is not important, because of the great view. In summer sitting on the terrace must be wonderful.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful experience! We were celebrating our 10th anniversary and were nervous about going to a restaurant which we had never been. Water's Edge was perfect! An excellent choice! The food was great. It was not an extensive menu, but enough to choose from. Very nice wine list and specialty desserts with after-dinner drinks. We got there in time for sun-down and it was amazing view! We will be back!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had the pixe fixe lunchWe had the pixe fixe lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meal. Delicious spinach salad, followed by chicken, fingerling potatoes over spinach and creme brulee (over cooked or stale). Beautiful setting - staff could have been more friendly, but all in all it was a lovely luncheon.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat location with a MillionGreat location with a Million dollar view of Manhattan's east side. The food was great and the service was excellent.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a great place! IThis is a great place! My only complaint was the snow falling didn't let us see the Manhattan skyline too well.3/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service, food selectionGreat service, food selection and ambiance. Nice view of the Manhattan skyline. Liked the fact that the restaurant arranged a surprise for us for our wedding anniversary even though we did not expect it. That's what made this visit a memorable one.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best !!!!!! I went thereThe best !!!!!! I went there to propose to my fiancé and words can't explain the wonderful service that I got and the delicious 28oz steak that I ordered!!!3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second dinnerThis was our second dinner at Water's Edge in three months and on both occasions the staff was exceedingly gracious and helpful. The food was excellent, and you cannot beat sitting by the window and taking in the beauty of the river and Manhattan skyline. We also like the fact that you don't have to shout at each other, or listen to others' conversations. The sound level is just right for a romantic evening. We are making it our place for special events.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
